Fluticasone for sinus infection

Common Questions and Answers about Fluticasone for sinus infection

2017838_tn?1330601750 It's been in the news lately that Amoxicillin has not effect on Sinus Infections, but we've known that here for years. A Neilmed Sinus Rinse is also good for saline, and blowing up balloons Helps with the popping.
Avatar_f_tn For about four years i have had chronic Sinus Infections. I have had two surgeries on my right Sinuses and correction of a deviated septum. I have had three surgeries on my left Sinuses, the last one being a caldwell-luc. None of these have Helped. I was also diagnosed with eosinophillic pneumonia during this time which was brought into control with the use of high doses of prednisone. I have tried an endless array of medications and procedures to rid the Infection.
Avatar_m_tn I was prescribed Fluticasone propionate for symptoms of a Sinus Infection. after taking the 2 metered sprays for 3 days, I developed a painful swollen throat, earache and canker sore on my toung. I continued the sprays for two more days before stopping the sprays. it's been 3 days since I've stopped but the side effects have not diminished at all. how long should it take for these side effect symtoms to go way. should I seek treatment?
Avatar_m_tn He prescribed me amoxicillin as a stronger antibiotic should I still have the Sinus Infection. I am also scheduled for a ct scan of my Sinuses next Tuesday so see any possible problems. The only thing that is still bothering me is the lightheadedness every now and again. It's not as bad as it was before but nonetheless I can still tell I have some. I'm not sure if it's still some reminiscence of the Sinus Infection or whats going on with that.
Avatar_n_tn My first thought was- what the heck is going on- I have this bad Sinus Infection , on meds for that for 20 days- it never goes away- was told to take celexa- (which I took at the same time as the anti-biotic)- and then started having attacks, tingling in my fingers and toes, and then I am being sent to a pyschologists? for anxiety or panic disorder.??? I really hope you get better and I did go to chiropractor ( I have not been in a few months though)...maybe I should go back for a visit.
Avatar_f_tn This can reduce the swelling in your Sinuses, Helping them to drain more freely and may Help to resolve the Infection. If the viral Sinus Infection Does not resolve itself, a bacterial Infection may set in and abx may be needed. If you don't see improvement, I second Dame as far as seeing an ENT.
Avatar_m_tn Sinus Infections often take more than one round of strong antibiotics to completely get rid of. I get at least one horrid Sinus Infection every year and I ususally have to take 3 courses of antibiotics. My EENT Does not recommend Sinus sprays as they tend to have a rebound effect. In other words, the more you use them, the WORSE they make the problem! I have proven it to myself a number of times. He now recommends using a Neti Pot and it's been a Godsend as far as I'm concerned.
Avatar_m_tn You may have a problem that looks like a Sinus Infection, but is something else. The medical model works for most people, and if you have a severe Sinus Infection, it could spread to other parts of your head or body, and it would be a good idea to be on antibiotics. Part I explains the Flip-Turn Sinus Flush®, Part II tells you why it works, Part III tells you how to prevent Sinus problems. Good luck, and breathe free! INTRODUCTION Antibiotics often do not work for chronic Sinusitis.
Avatar_m_tn After I had finished the medicines, I had gone back in and had another culture done, which came back negative for any Infection. My ENT is willing to do another Sinus surgery, but in taking a step back and looking at this objectively, I do not feel another surgery is going to Help. I am afraid, after reading horror stories of people having too much of their inferior turbinates removed, of getting “Empty Nose Syndrome”, and that will just cause more problems.
Avatar_m_tn Wanted to run some basic questions by someone else, since the ENT specialist I'm seeing isn't very Helpful. I've been dealing w/ a Sinus Infection for a few months and antibiotics didn't get rid of it. So he ordered a CT scan, and told me today that I need surgery. He didn't show me the scan or give me a report, but said one Sinus on my cheek is completely blocked, one on my forehead has some blockage, and I think 1-2 others have some blockage too. I should say: My symptoms don't seem that bad.
612551_tn?1450025775 Hello and hope you are doing well. Understand your predicament. Sinus Infection causes blockage of flow especially when a person lies down. The blockade is affected by the side to which the person turns also. Sinus Infections also cause stuffiness of the nose with nasal blockage, which can make breathing through the nose difficult. The best way to get to the bottom of your Sinus issues is to see an ENT.
Avatar_m_tn Good Afternoon, I have a Infection in both ears which is growing in pain. Have had condition for roughly two months. Have visited a doctor recently who has stated I have a build-up of some type of mucus behind both ear drums and that a procedure known as a "nasaloscopy" may need to be performed in the near future in order to remove blockage through nasal cavity into Sinus cavity as blockage cannot be removed through ears as it is behind ear drum.
Avatar_m_tn Antibiotic treatment for Sinus Infection is usually longer and stronger than the usual 1 week. Continue your medications as prescribed. However, avoid discontinuing the steroid or prednisone abruptly without consulting your attending. Hope to hear from you soon.
Avatar_n_tn In February of this year I got a CT scan and the ENT doctor said I have a severe deviated septum with chronic Sinusitis. I was treated for a Sinus Infection and that was it. I still felt bad so I went to a neurologist. He wrote it off as a vestibular problem. I did vestibular therapy for 2 months with almost no relief. In May when allergy season started, everything got worse. I have had nonstop Sinus pressure/pain, headache, dizziness, major eye strain, my face is sore, my teeth are sore.
Avatar_n_tn This can be from allergies, from Sinus inflammation and/or Infection or chronic bronchitis. Having one person direct the evaluation is important. Since this has been going on so long and persists despite all of the medications you have listed, it might be a good idea to have a specialist lead that evaluation. You may want to see a Pulmonologist or an Allergist next to evaluate what is happening. A CT scan of the Sinuses may be one of their recommendations to see if this is the cause.
Avatar_n_tn I feel so sorry for you. I am in WV, and have had the Sinus pressure and feels like swelling in my head which makes me have trouble with balance, and sometimes hear high pitched noises. I've always had Sinus but nothing like this. I've had blood work, etc., 3 rounds of antibiotics, and family dr. sent me to ear, nose, throat specialist, who gave me all the nasal antihistamines and steroid sprays which didn't Help.
Avatar_n_tn He has been to the allergy doctor who has prescribed Fluticasone and certrizine. He has seen a pediatrician who has said maybe a Sinus Infection and given antibiotics. He also had an x-ray at the allergy doctor's office. We are going to see the ENT in two days. I don't know if it's a tic? He says he can't breathe well. His left nostril seems more clogged than the right. It's hard to listen to him suck in air very loudly 100 plus times a day.
242516_tn?1368227505 If your doctor is worried that you might have pneumonia, a chest x-ray can look to see if there's an Infection, especially for those who have coughed for more than 3 weeks. with a viral bronchitis, you should avoid antibiotics especially zpacks (Zithromax / azithromycin) which are overprescribed for these symptoms , and can lead to side effects and adverse drug reaction such as rash, antibiotic drug resistance and yeast Infections.
Avatar_f_tn Re: Exercise Treatment I have not been able to force air in or out of either Sinus for the past 8 months. are there any other exercises available?
Avatar_n_tn Started amoxicillin two days ago (prescribed for the earlier Sinus Infection). It is starting to feel a little better. I was really worried about staph or MRSP. Glad to know I am not the only one with this bizarre Infection. I'm giving it two more days.
148057_tn?1231430591 I would get checked for a virus Infection called HSV. I am a Meniere's patient since 2005. When I was diagnosed, I learned from the ENT Dr. that Meniere's is 'a fight between my immune system and my middle ear'. I asked him what was the fight for, then he answered that if he knew, he would have found the cure for Meniere's disease. Struggling for 3 years now, with increased symptoms in variety and intensity, I finally started a research and experiment with an antivirus called Acyclovir.
Avatar_m_tn The doctors said it was post nasal drip as the lining of my nose is irritated and nasal sprays should open it up but it hasnt, I have only ever had one Sinus Infection in the past year but I don't think my GP called it a Sinus Infection just the flu but I had orange mucus.
Avatar_n_tn I went to my doc on Monday and she gave me a Rx for amoxicillin for 10 days to see if it is a polyp Infection. I do not have a Sinus Infection or a cold. The headaches are like a band around my head, but mostly at the base of my skull where my neck pain is the worst...almost like a head pain rather than head ache. Can my neck problems cause this?
Avatar_m_tn I am prone to Sinus Infections and had 4 last year until I was put on a corticosteroid (Fluticasone proprionate) which has stopped the Sinus Infections, but not this foul smell! ENT suggested it may be a small Infection that should eventually cure itself, but that was over a year ago. I have tried nasal irrigation for weeks at a time but with no change. Any ideas? Many thanks!
612551_tn?1450025775 My personal interest in this Community is my chronic night time (sleep time) nasal congestion. I have tried the generic for Flonase (Fluticasone) which didn't Help much, not ow Astepro (not a steroid) which is a little more Help, but none are as good as the over the counter Afrin (or similar) which can not be used for long periods. This congestion led me to recognize I have some trouble waking up with a suffocation sensession. .
612551_tn?1450025775 I have had Sinus problems for a long time. The doctor recently prescribed Fluticasone propionate nasal spray and some antibiotics. Is it okay to combine the spray with saline nasal irrigation? If so, how do I combine them?
Avatar_f_tn I have had chronic congestion or a cold or something since about October on and off but mostly on. I have seen the doctor and been prescribed antibiotics for a Sinus Infection a number of times. I am using Zicam. I am getting no relief from decongestants or allergy medication. I just don't know what else to do. I am awake now in the middle of the night so congested that I can't breathe through my nose. Help!
Avatar_n_tn I have j been to an ENT for my Sinus problem (i.e addiction to nasal spray and nose blockage. He had given me antibiotics (course is over) . He has also given me flixonase (Fluticasone propionate) nasal spray, a solophar mouth/throat spray (Dequalinium chloride '0.015gm, benzalkonium chloride 0.035gm, alcohol 6% by volume) and Fexet (Fexofenadine:120mg) to have for one month. My course ends round about 25 september 2011.
Avatar_n_tn I am puzzled. I have seen my primary care and a dermatoligist. Both have told me that I have rosacea. I don't seem to think it is because I don't really have acne. It is only my nose. It gets red often and now the condition is worse with red bumps on one side of my nose. My left side of my nose is also a bit swollen and is starting to look disfigured. I also periodically have a clear runny nose. I am wondering if I have an allergy. I took tetracyline for two weeks and it did nothing.
