Common Questions and Answers about Flush free niacin weight loss

niaspan

Avatar m tn By contrast, slow-release niacin preparations reduce the hot-flush effect by releasing niacin over an extended period of 12 hours or longer. Most of these preparations are unsafe and I do not recommend them. “No-flush” niacin preparations, such as inositol hexaniacinate and nicotinamide, are widely sold as niacin alternatives that do not cause hot flushes. In my experience, however, they simply do not work. In other words, no flush, no effect.
1063764 tn?1272821064 Most flush-free niacin isn't very strong, especially niacinamide, which probably does nothing. So if you're going to try large doses, you might have to endure the flush. You also should do this in conjunction with your physician or a naturopath, as too much niacin can be dangerous. It can also affect your levels of other B vitamins. I've heard of it being used for anxiety, and it does calm the heart. It energizes those who need it, so I don't know about it making you tired.
Avatar n tn Hiya, Chris. - I got hold of some nitro and saw a big drop in SBP and DBP. Same with Imdur. - the first time I took arginine, I saw a modest drop in BP. - but there is a study that shows increased **death** in MI patients taking arginine - another study in PAD showed less NO synthesis after longterm usage, while short term use usually shows increased NO - how are you defining "fluid free"? - is niacin flushing due to NO?

Avatar n tn it's usually used to remove toxins from your body. Usuallly through your poors the toxins will be excreted.
Avatar n tn I took 500mg of niacin the reagular kind not the no flush kind It did cause me to have a niacin flush (which is typical)...it has never caused me trouble with mainia only made me flush wich eased anxiety and caused me to be tired afterwards...It might affect others diffently though. Avatar f tn That said, your TSH appears high and combined with your symptoms of weight gain, tiredness, memory loss and dry skin I would say you are hypothyroid and need to start on medication for that. You may want to see a specialist (an Endocrinologist) experienced with treating thyroid disorders. Don't delay treating this. The thyroid impacts pretty much your whole body and if it isn't functioning correctly, you are going to have extensive issues that will only get worse.
Avatar m tn For a good multi-vitamin, I consider the minimum to be at least 25 milligrams of each of the main Bs (B-1, B-2, B-6, e.g.). I also consider more to be better as far as the water-soluble vitamins go (the Bs, vitamin C, and some others are water-soluble, while A, D, E, and K are fat soluble). 'Bear in mind that the RDI (recommended daily intake), DV (daily value), or whatever, is calculated to be the dose that keeps you from overtly DYING of a nutrient deficiency.
Avatar n tn need help. i have been on vytorin for 4 years and on routine blood tests, my cpk has been in the 500-700 range for all 4 years (2 blood draws a year). I am asymptomatic. This past Jan, i added "flush free niacin" to my morning meds/supplements, and in July i noted my cpk was 1000. Still asymptomatic. In the past, I stopped working out for a couple of weeks and stopped statins for 2 weeks, and when rechecked, the CPK's were still in the 700 range.
Avatar f tn Odd, but I've never really felt the "flush" so many people describe when I take my prescription Niacin (500 mg). I think I might have felt a very mild flush the very first time I took it, but its been completely unnoticeable for me since then. Maybe I've got a bad batch or something.
2019697 tn?1334150247 There is a "flush free" Niacin available. I purchased this flush free with inositol. It is a 400 mg dose that I take twice a day. the B Complex I take is 100 mg. I went off the xanax last Saturday and have been fine. I was only on a very low dose of .25 mg/day at night but was on it for about 2 months. I didnt experience any withdraw symptoms. I would first check with your doctor before trying to go off the xanax and onto a supplement.
Avatar f tn Niacin in most people causes the face to flush/blush. No flush Niacin is readily available OTC. A word of caution, however, Niacin is a B3 and B3's are known to elevate blood sugars. Test your bs often and on a regular basis.
Avatar f tn m eating I will take a few bites and then start to feel super bloated and can not continue eating. Then my face will flush and become very hot. Avatar f tn Don't know if this will help or not... My latest blood tests says my Thyroid levels are now perfect. I take 65mg Iron pills 2X/day, 250mg Niacin 3X/day. I also take a few other pills where liver and kidney functions must be watched. So far everything is working good! My Iron is still a bit low but we're waiting on the next blood test in three months before we adjust that again. I take Niacin to lower my cholesterol.
Avatar f tn hi wow that's a lot to carry, try a niacin flush (not with time release) do it the old fashion way ,put on cotton and get ready to burn up, don't worry it don't last long ,you will get red too if it to much a cool shower will help, what it does is remove built up toxics in the body I am not a professional but you know one thing its coming from inside of you ,please be loving and kind to yourself you have been thought a lot ...
Avatar f tn : is MORE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY than most anything you can drink or eat......If you do take this Niacin without a doctor supervision, then be careful and get informed about it like the 3 different types of "FLUSH" Niacin..Immediate release is the least harmless to the liver, next Extended-release also known as Niaspan-prescription, and most harmful to the Liver is Time release. slo release, etc.
Avatar m tn There is also niacin (look for non flush niacin) and L-carnitine. And of course look at your diet. You can check out what to eat and avoid on this article from Authority Nutrition: A Paleo Diet Meal Plan and Menu That Can Save Your Life. After a bad diet, hypothyroidism is the second most common cause of elevated cholesterol. Genetics is under 1% of cases. It's worth trying out some natural methods first. Statins have a list of side effects a mile long. *** "...
Avatar n tn My face is constantly flushed, along with my chest. My entire face is pink and warm to the touch. The tops of my forearms and my lower legs both have a ruddy complexion. If scratched, a white streak shows up in contrast to the red that stays for about 10 minutes. If rubbed, the whole area becomes pale for about 10 minutes until the blood returns. My face is different. If my face is scratched or rubbed, it only gets more flushed. Nothing I've done improves it.
Avatar m tn valve replacement 2001, redid bypasses. I was on 40mg Lipitor and 500mg no-flush niacin for a number of years with moderate sucess. I subscribe to the Cleveland Clinic Heart Newsletter. In the July 2007 issue there was suggestion that 1,500mg niacin was a good statin supplement. Starting in July 2007 I followed this suggestion, taking 1,500mg slow-release niacin with the Lipitor. I have biannual blood tests.
