Avatar f tn my thyroid is trashed;I have blood sugar issues and gained a ton of weight;I feel like I am going to vomit sometimes. I think I really am going to die sooner than later. And the doctors are not helping me one bit, especially the endos, who think "it's all in my head." I go to a new primary next month.
1980489 tn?1326255851 Hi all. This is just to get some information. What are symptoms of Cushing's in children? I've read lots of articles that stress the over-weight (especially in the midsection), and the round face and hump on the back of the neck, the stretch marks, and muscle fatigue. I guess I'm wondering if all of the symptoms noticed in adulthood are the same as those in children. And what exactly does "muscle fatigue" mean?
Avatar f tn They said start with Xopenex (every 4-6 hrs) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?
Avatar f tn Ive had asthma since I was in the 4th grade I am now 27 and have 3 kids. I absolutly can not go with out an inhaler. My kids are perfect. I don't like advare but flovent and aberterol is what I have been on for years. I would not stop taking any of the medicines that you are taking currently without your docters permission. That could be dangerous. I would ask about the flovent everyone is different and there are differnt types of treatment.
Avatar n tn I'm sorry your daughter is going through this. My 3 year old son was diagnosed late this summer with EE. He's been on flovent since August, and it's really working towards getting him to eat and gain weight. However it's turned him into a very aggressive, very mean little boy. Does anyone know of any other medicine out there that won't cause such a reaction?
Avatar n tn What has changed in her life , new home , new sibling, does she eat a lot hence the weight gain? What would be a days food for her ,and exercise is a good thing, so not wanting to have any physical activity should not be an option, children follow where we lead them, does her Mom take her out, parks, walks fun ..Plenty of healthy snacks and foods out there, what did the Doc tor say about the increased carbon ? .
Avatar f tn Switched up steriod to inhaled Flovent 44 instead of nebulizer and albuterol qid. No results. Chest x-ray and blood allergy (why not at this point) ordered and clear. Follow up with Pulm realized no coughing at night and diagnosed with Protracted Bronchitis. Treated 3 weeks of Augmentin 500mg BID x three weeks. Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus.
3588173 tn?1357317184 So I am 27 weeks and have gained just under 30 lbs my question is if im having no problem gaining weight why is my son so far behind...
Avatar f tn If she is 16kgs, then her weight is on the 25th percentile for her age and she is normal. Some children are smaller then others in the same family. Thank you for your question.
Avatar n tn Thank u guys.....
979428 tn?1253399601 He is having a hard time getting his son to eat and/or gain weight. He sees a county doctor, so it is not much of a partnership as it is the doctor telling him what to do. The doctor's office has expressed a concern over his son's weight and my friend is at a loss about what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? He thinks the medication is Strattera. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Flovent is a corticosteroid for asthma. I take albuterol, a fast acting inhaler, that does raise my heart rate for about 10-15 minutes. A normal response to the medication. Since Flovent is a steroid, it shouldn't normally raise your rate. However, you may have a sensitivity to that particular medication. You should talk to your doctor about it, see if s/he can prescribe a different one for you.
Avatar m tn What medicines have you or your children been on for this? My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with EE this past August, and he's been using Flovent 1 puff twice a day since then. The last month or two I've noticed that he has been extremely aggressive, agitated, and just plain mean and disrespectful. I am 100% sure it is due to the Flovent. Is there an alternative I should be asking for? Will all of the EE medicines give his just such a reaction since they are all going to be steroids?
Avatar f tn I am 36 and diagnosed with asthma in 1999. Since then, I have used Flovent 4 times daily and my weight increased rapidly; I have gone up 8 sizes and I exercise daily. Two or three years ago, I started experiencing edema in my feet and I soon developed an underactive thyroid. I experienced bipolar-like mood swings and the edema increased. I went to three different endos who were not very helpful.
Avatar n tn No supplement is likely to help. Weight is a balance of calories in // calories out ---- this is true for thyroid and non-thyroid patients. Keeping the TSH in target range (ask your doctor about your target as it may be different based on the thyroid cancer history).

Avatar f tn Hi I switched from Fluoxetine to Citalopram about 6 months ago as the Fluoxetine was making me gain weight. Since I've been on Citalopram I've put on even more, and am now about 2 stone (14kg) heavier than I was before I started. I don't want to come off ADs as they're helping me so much, but at the same time I don't know if I can cope with any more weight gain. Has anyone experienced weight gain with certain antidepressants then been able to lose with a different one?
Avatar f tn Nothing some people don't gain weight until later, or they lose weight your are perfectly fine hun.
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
Avatar f tn Don't know. In N.Y.C. they are overdoing it with regulations (to say the least) but since many kids eat school lunches (and sometimes breakfast) daily what is served should be healthy. Obviously kids will buy snacks and soda and the like. We can't police them from not doing this. We can however provide a basic health education. Regular exercise and physical fitness should not be downsized as regards classes. Its just as important as anything else.
Avatar f tn But the bottom line is, there are just not getting enough calories in to gain any weight! Its so frustrating and to be honest I feel like my kids are sickly looking because they are so skinny. Any suggestions??
Avatar n tn my baby is 13 months and she is not holding her bottle ,she is not sitting on her own, and she is not standing or walking and her left eye's black is closer to corner than the other one, she eat well but she doesn't gain weight enough she has been on the 3 percent curve from day one till now.
Avatar f tn I thought I would be in trouble with the weight gain. I am 36 weeks pregnant and way the same as my pre pregnancy weight and am not overweight at all. But, since I had a few ultrasounds done and I measured out perfectly. Doctors say baby and I are healthy..just dont lose weight..
Avatar f tn My diet is constant snacks like yogurt, almonds, cottage cheese, veggies and very little fruit because that spikes my sugar and then it drops, chicken, lean beef and I love beans on salads and things. I want to see results so badly!
