It effect the vision and may cause blurred vision but that is found in only 0.2- 2% of the patients. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar n tn s from the Flomax my husband takes and that it will take longer for his vision to clear.(the Dr. was aware of the flomax before surg.) What has been your experience with this troublesome outcome? My husband is very discouraged.
Avatar f tn It seems that the surgeon had difficulty implanting the intra-ocular lens as I had been taking Flomax. He stopped the procedure to get my permission to use a more flexible lens to which I agreed. The procedure was completed. On follow up two weeks later my vision had not resolved (blurred) and the surgeon advised that there was an inflamation which he hoped would go away with heavy application of Maxidex eye drops.
Avatar f tn A YAG iridotomy will not worsen his cataract, but will open the anterior chamber angle and prevent a sudden attack of angle closure glaucoma. If the cataract is significantly affecting your father's vision, then removal of the cataract will also open the angle and improve vision as well. If he has the cataract surgery, he will not need the laser iridotomy.
Avatar m tn I had my cataracts removed by an ophthalmologist who did not know that the drug Flomax created problems with the dilating of the pupil. The result was that he experienced difficulties. It is now 30 months later and he says I need to have YAG surgery done as my eyes have developed secondary cataracts. I can hardly see out of the one eye. I want to have it done but because of the previous procedure and his not being aware of the effect of Flomax I have lost confidence in the Dr.
Avatar m tn I have taken Flomax for a week, and am very weary of the side effects. It effects my vision - I can feel it in my eyes. It dulls my brain, I can feel it in my head. It caused the ringing in my ears to get worse. I've had minor chest pain for a few days. All of these are on the list of side effects.
Avatar m tn Flomax can cause "floppy iris syndrome" (FIS). A small percentage of people on Flomax and a much much smaller % of people that were on Flomax in the past but not on it now have FIS. FIS can make surgery, usually cataract, more difficult as the pupil does not stay dilated. However FIS is now widely recognized and special techniques have been devised to deal with the floppy, contracting iris.
Avatar f tn My husband had cataract surgery onTuesday, Oct. 7th he had been on flomax but stopped using it a week before surgery. Has cloudy vision could not see anything but a haze day after surgery when patch was taken off. Doctor said there were complications, surgery took almost 2 hours. We are putting the 3 recommended drops in his eye 4 times a day, per doctors change in instructions. Has a revisit scheduled for Friday and Monday.
Avatar f tn My neurologist recently put me on a Detrol LA for a week, then had me add Flomax. I noticed a slight improvement with the Detrol, but when I added the Flomax things urinary got dramatically better. But, shortly after starting the Flomax, I discovered that I did not produce any ejaculate! Not that sex is a big thing with me (staying upright while standing takes precidence), but it is still an important part of life (if only rarely).
Avatar m tn I did not associate it with flomax until recently. Is it harmful if I stop taking the flomax and is this the cause of my retro? This discussion is related to Retrograde Ejaculation from Flomax......permanent or not?.
Avatar m tn While taking Flomax or Proscar, does this have an effect on getting HARD.
Avatar m tn Flomax can reduce the amouht of seman that you produce. It would be unusual though to have this production reduced down to zero unless the man was ejaculating very often. In general terms Flomax is a useful medication with very few side-effects..
Avatar n tn , where normal for him means slow urination due to long standing BHP, but not as slow, painful, and dribbling as with Flomax. We are just guessing that the way Flomax works by relaxing muscles is causing these effects. (Could the enlarged prostate end up pressing even more on muscles?? I realize these are just guesses: I have looked at a lot of medical sites, but this does not look like to be listed as a side effect!
Avatar m tn light headness after cataract surgery and Dr was told about Flomax of which I am still on 2 years later
Avatar m tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms. Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate. Best.
Avatar n tn He takes 5 mg blood pressure med and he takes Flomax daily. When he first started taking Flomax; which he needs to be able to urinate or as he says to keep his plumbing working, anyway, he would have dizzy spells. His doctor said this was normal, a side effect of Flomax. But now lately he has been passing out; I think that is unusual for any medication and I'm worried there may be something else going on.

Avatar m tn post surg vision never improved beyond 20/40+ and 20/60 close. Have two second opinions which disclosed original doctor misdiagnosed and was prepared to perform unnecessary procedures to improve my vision. Second opinion #1 diagnosed Posterior Capsule Opacification admittedly unusual in only weeks post surg. Second opinion #2 diagnosed folds in the capsular sack which may disappear after the sack shrinks in time.
