Flexibility in nursing

Common Questions and Answers about Flexibility in nursing

flexibility

Avatar f tn Lucey- a nursing bra offers support as well, as breasts full of milk are fuller and heavier. They are not like typical bras. There's usually enough flexibility in the fabric to accommodate a nursing pad as well. A nursing pad helps absorb any leaking milk from your breasts so you don't soak and stain your tops, much like a pad for your periods. And also, it does fold down to make breastfeeding easier.
Avatar m tn I still suffer from excruciating cramp in my feet. Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.
Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
Avatar f tn I work in a nursing home constantly on my feet taking care of people. It definitely can get hard on the back sometimes. I tried a belly band for support but it was too uncomfortable.
Avatar n tn My 80 year old mother had TKR surgery last week. She says when she stands or sits for any length of time, her foot hurts and she must lay down to relieve the pain. The doctor said this is typical because of blood rushing to the foot and recommended putting the support sock on. Has anyone else experienced this? Everyone is impressed with her flexibility and she's doing her exercises regularly but this pain has really gotten her concerned and regrets getting the surgery.
Avatar f tn As the presidential campaign unfolds, the differences in approaches to Medicare by President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney have taken center stage. But what is getting far less scrutiny: Romney's plans for Medicaid. He would convert the health care program for the poor, disabled and elderly into a block grant to the states and sharply reduce funding over time.
Avatar f tn ve never wanted to do it because I want to go back to work as soon as possible, but he days no my first child was breast fed and is healthy as a dog ( his ex-girls kid) and he wants me to breast feed, everyone in my family and my parents were bottle fed, what am I to do??? Avatar m tn There was no need for any chemo or radiation since the tumor was well encapsulated. He engaged in all follow up tests and recent routine tests were all normal except his abdominal CT Scan showed some swelling in his bladder lining. All urine tests were normal - no signs of blood or infection...no sense of urgency to urinate or anything else unusual.
Avatar n tn I can relate to you. I was in the nursing profession ( it seems like alot of nurses have fibro) and I believe I wrecked my back during all these years. I have severe stenosis,DDD, bulging disc, sciatia and numbness in lower R leg plus alot of pain which my Dr. says I have to live with and nothing can be done. Everyone tells you to walk but when I do the pain from walking starts the fibro pain, just like a merry-go-round,but I keep trucking along. My help..
Avatar f tn It started in the last few months of nursing my first child, continued after nursing, during my second pregnancy and again during nursing my second child. A few months back upon weening my second child the pain in this area became much more intense and then returned to the "normal" level upon completion of nursing. I have had two ultrasounds...the first was inconclusive as I was still nursing and all they could see were the milk ducts, however, in the second they fould a cyst.
Avatar m tn Hi Brad, I agree with nickppatel re the leg activity in water polo. I played water polo for 6 years in my late teens to early twenties (then joined the military) and I have a full understanding on the amount of leg work required just to play water polo, let alone being the goalie.
453798 tn?1262633421 My milk never came in and Alec is 8 days old. I finally gave up because he was getting frustrated and it broke my heart. Has anyone else had problems? It is kind of a letdown for me.
Avatar f tn I have a problem with chronic pain in my left shin and have had bouts with plantar fastitis. Suddenly by shoe inserts to support my high arches feel awful. What are the right exercises and what else can I do?
700000 tn?1231287536 The only problem I have is that it is kind of a bummer in that without the flexibility in my wrist, some of my basketball and martial arts activities that I participate in currently are limited. I still live a normal life as an engineer and go to the gym 5 - 6 times per week and never feel any pain except on REALLY cold days. I recently landscaped my backyard with no problems. As far as flexibility, I was barely able to do a flat handed push up 3 years ago. I am 30 years old currently.
10228675 tn?1423881456 Before pregnancy i was a 38F.. now that bra is way to small.. so im looking for a nursing tank that my boobs will actually fit in.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 25 now, and 5 years ago she broke her femur and had a titanium rod put in her leg. She's doing fine, and now she's taking tae kwando classes. She is not sure, however, if she should push herself to do kicks, etc., or to be careful not to put too much strain on her hip. She's not sure if she can increase her flexibility by pushing herself, or if she could do herself harm. How can she tell what could be helpful as opposed to what might to damage?
Avatar f tn Then labor time came and I got rushed into an emergency c section which changed everything. I was in so much pain from that and then breastfeeding, which is painful at first, was too much so I gave up about a week. I totally regret it! Everyone says give it 2 weeks and everything will be fine after that so that's what I am going to do!
Avatar m tn I had surgery over 10 months ago for a lateral meniscus tear in my knee. This is the second surgery I have had on this same knee. The previous surgery I had a medial meniscus tear about 5 years ago. I am very active and cycle about 5 hours a week and about 5 hours a week of more weight bearing exercise. I have not been able to regain full flexibility to the knee, I am lacking 10 degrees of motion. I ice my knee most every day after exercising.
Avatar n tn I think it's carpel tunnel I had the same feeling in my hand it was more my middle index & thumb that were effected

5807499 tn?1383275275 Unfortunately, in the state of Washington, I have to have a years experience in the field before I take my state boards. I came across a nursing assistant program through one of the main nursing homes in our area, & it'll get me certified as a nursing assistant. This will get my foot in the door for what I wanna do with my life and help me pay for my degree. My question is...what is it like doing nursing assistant stuff? I know you're required to lift patients at times...
Avatar f tn I went to a Motherhood Maternity store looking and was told to anticipate 2 cup sizes up from what you are now for nursing. I bought bras at 37 weeks pg and not sure if they're the right size or not - but - they work. I'd also recommend to get a nursing bra you can sleep in and pajamas you can nurse in - I hear mine EVERYNIGHT and it's great not to have to worry about pulling up a shirt in the middle of the night.
Avatar m tn I am a distance runner that had a left side inguinal surgery last April. After a two month recovery, I started running again. I've never really run correctly in the past year. Working with a chiropractor, I got a hip flexor malady adjusted; the PT said I needed to work on flexibility. My left leg kind of 'hangs/float' and doesn't extend out normally. I feel it even when I'm walking. The odd part is that I can't really self-correct it with mental striving.
Avatar n tn 85 You are not too old to increase your strength, flexibility endurance or efficiency. In fact, since you are so out of shape-it will be more likely that you will have a steep curve of improvement with some concerted effort.
