Avatar m tn It is important to do warm up exercises, before doing the "hard exercises". The reason for this is to soften and loosen up muscles and tendons. If you start to do normal exercises before "warming up" (exercise bike, and stretches), you could end up damaging and tearing muscles and tendons, which you do not want. Same for singing. It is important to do "warm up" exercises to gently loosen up the vocal chords before starting to sing using the full vocal range.
Avatar m tn Your doctor will refer you to the appropriate specialists and/or physiotherapists to treat your condition. Physiotherapists give you and show you how to do specific exercises for you. They will go over all your physical and mental problems and medications that you take and how active you are. Physiotherapy is geared specifically to your needs. Because everyone is different, some of the exercises that the physiotherapist will tell you to do may not be the same for someone else.
Avatar m tn I'm a 27 year old male. I have returned to gymnastics after 3 years out and find that I get severe cramp in the arches of my feet. It seems to occur if I point my toes too hard and for long periods of time. My feet don't seem to be as flexible as they used to be as I used to have a much better toe point before. As I have to train in barefeet, I've also noticed that they can get quite cold sometimes. Can anyone help?
20911706 tn?1629515701 Calisthenics comes with a range of exercises with different intensity. This type of training suits beginners the best and can be easily modified for advanced workouts. With all the variety of trendy fitness forms such as Tabata, fly yoga, Zumba, Crossfit, and so on, calisthenics seems an old-school term that is long forgotten. In fact, you probably already do calisthenics without actually realizing it! What’s your immediate response when you decide you need that 6-pack? Crunches.
Avatar f tn There is a great book called Stretching by Bob Anderson. It has the correct stretches for every sport. Your shin pain and plantar fasciitis may be related. When your shin hurts you may be adjusting your movement and huring your heel. Once you have the right shoes, both conditions will be helped by stretching.
Avatar m tn My core strength is pretty good and it was a consistent part of my workout routine, but what exercises do you suggest? And which hip flexor stretches would you recommend? Also, I forgot to include that studying meant I was sitting in a chair all day and a lot of the time I was leaning forward with my back hunched.

Avatar m tn The initial treatment for all chronic hip overuse injuries is similar, and this can be taught to patients in the office or via formal physical therapy. Pain relief can be improved with oral anti-inflammatory medications, as well as with modalities such as ice, ultrasound treatment, and high-intensity galvanic stimulation. Patients thought to have tendinopathy can use acetaminophen for pain relief because the affected tendon is not inflamed.

Avatar n tn My 80 year old mother had TKR surgery last week. She says when she stands or sits for any length of time, her foot hurts and she must lay down to relieve the pain. The doctor said this is typical because of blood rushing to the foot and recommended putting the support sock on. Has anyone else experienced this? Everyone is impressed with her flexibility and she's doing her exercises regularly but this pain has really gotten her concerned and regrets getting the surgery.
