flexeril dosage tmj

Two months ago i took flexeril (muscle relaxer) for tmj like symptoms. Right after that i noticed hypo symptoms and when i went to the doc intested at tsh 17. Was i wrong to think that the pill triggered my thyroid? I have hashimotos By the way. I am asking because i am hanving jaw tension and pain now and want to take the flexeril but i am afraid it might trigger my hyop tyroidism.

Before getting pregnant i was taking tramadol and flexeril to take the edge off if my jaw started locking up. Now my ob just has me on the lowest dose of flexeril but it seems to do nothing for it. Just 10 more weeks though i think i can make it if i've gotten this far.

It has been four days now but I have this weird pressure in my temple that doesn't go away. It almost feels as though it radiates to the bone behind my ear. I have migraines and have taken plenty of ibuprofen and my rizatriptan and those aren't making it go away. It doesn't ache really it just feels heavy. I also grind my teeth at night but I am not sure why I'd only have it on one side but I have tried my Flexeril as well and that hasn't helped.

What does everyone take for their TMJ pain? I did take Darvocets, but those were removed from the market, so what should I take now? What does everyone else take for their jaw pain that is so painful?

He has been grinding his teeth for years now. His doctor gave him flexeril to help with relaxing but it is not working. We tried a mouth guard but he will not keep it in. The grinding is severe, I tried looking at his teeth, they do appear to be damaged. His dentist only suggested a mouth guard but it is not the answer. Is there anything else to try. Please, we need help.

Both bottles state the dosage on them that you can take. The Flexeril I believe was given to me after I had some dental work done to help loosen my jaw/neck muscles because I ended up with Trismus. And the Norflex was given to me by my old PCP awhile ago because I mentioned during a visit my neck and shoulders were chronically tight. I suppose I could call my NL and see which one she recommends.... I just Hate calling there!!

t find any ear infection and was diagnosed with TMJ-type pain. I was prescribed naproxen, flexeril (which made me feel hungover in the morning, so I stopped taking it) and xanax (as needed) to relax. Well the headaches got a *little* better but never went away. My doctor sent me to a neurologist, who sent me for an MRI, which came back negative, thankfully.

My family doctor recently perscribed both Flexeril and Mobic. After a month without a huge improvement he increased the dosage, and wants me to continue another month. I have gotten some relief however my main complaints from a bad fall 4 months ago, have not improved. He has not shown any concern on how long its safe. I have done research on both, and the reccomendations are for short term use. He thinks I have Fibromyalgia, but I don't think so.

I have had TMJ disorder for years now, but have recently been told I need bilateral TMJ surgery to replace my joints and reposition my jaw. I have seen numerous specialist in my town as well as other towns to ensure that this is the correct treatment for me. I have tried several non surgical treatments as well with no results. of Flexeril....I was prescribed 1 - 2 5 mg. tabs three times daily to deal with spasms. Since insurance would not approve the extended release flexeril, I had to stay with the generic and was told BY MY DOC to take 2 tabs 3 times daily for the spasms. I am also prescribed Dilaudid (2 mg. up to 4 times per day), but I don't use more than 1 per day now....pain is not so bad...just the spasms -- especially after PT!!!

I told her that I was more concerned about the muscle spasms. She asked about my Baclofen dose. I reminded her that I didn't take Baclofen because I had bad side effects to it when I did try it.

I was diagnosed with Hypothyroid back in February 2009. since then I've had my dose increased 2 time. My dosage is .88mcg. I have suffered with TMJ problems for the past year since the removal of my braces. It has just been clicking and popping, and recently started to lock. Does anyone know very much about Flexeril? I just received an call from someone that thinks they may have overdosed on it. He usually does not take it and took up to ten 10mg tablets today and feels somewhat out of it. 100mg in one shot shouldn't do too much should it? He is in No. CA and I'm in So. if you have scarring in the muscle you might be able to find exercises through physical therapy that will help keep the jaw muscles relaxed and less painful. Muscle relaxants like flexeril or skelaxin are sometimes helpful. If the pain is from nerves, medications like Lyrica or gabapentin sometimes help. If there is a component of depression, Cymbalta might by helpful.

I have been prescribed Flexeril for over a year, as a muscle relaxant for long term back and neck pain... I was told it was a 'safe' drug, and not to worry about it - it was not addicting. I went to see the Ortho today and he prescribed 10mg hyro and 10 mg Flexeril until I can schedule PT again. Alcohol and flexeril are both central nervous system suppressants and consuming alcohol while taking flexeril compounds the drowsiness, confused thinking, respiratory suppression of the muscle relaxant. Flexeril/alcohol combos are frequent causes of accidental overdose. I would avoid the alcohol while taking the flexeril completely. If you already were consuming alcohol, I would skip the flexeril for at least 12 hours or more, depending upon how much alcohol you consumed.

I do have TMJ problems as well as trigeminal neuralgia. The TMJ was mainly a result of grinding my teeth in my sleep and clenching my teeth during the day. I used a night guard at night and it stopped the pain. I still get tense muscles occasionally, if I am clenching my teeth or have my mouth open at the dentist or eat really chewy candy. I had an xray of my jaw to confirm the TMJ problem. I also experienced clicking and popping in my jaw, and sharp pain that felt like it was in my ear.
