They do not have complete horizontal ridges across them. Sort of like moguls on a ski slope. They are not discolored and it only occurs in those two fingernails. She has had this for close to a year. She's rarely sick and if it was nail fungus I would think it would have spread to her other nails.

Ever since I can remember, on my thumbnail and big-toe nail, there has been a strange deterioration. It looks like a series of grooves in the center of the nail (see attached pictures). My fingernails aren't weak or brittle and they're not really falling off or anything. I don't think it's anything serious, but I've always been curious what it is. If anybody could help at all, that would be great.

Another thing I kept asking dr about for years. So- does it get better post tx? My iron is a love hate thing. I had to drop it for tx, but try n get it in my diet. I DID find an iron free multiple vit. That way I can kind of control the dose n not overload liver. My.. Chatty me tonight.

I have lines on my nails that are ugly and I saw drops in a magizine for it once but when I went to order them I could'nt find the artical, and both my parents have it and it killed a foot fungus that tried to infect me after 1 year??????

Hi I just want to know what can cause some or all of these combined symptoms, Hair thinning, lost of appetite, a few dark toenails but not all of them, 1 fingernail half light pink half light brown with vertical lines no ridges, wart on ball of both feet and lately some lost of taste (I'm thinking due to thin white film on tongue) I was a Severe smoker until recently when I stopped.

I had brittle, thin nails with wavy ridges, and white spots in them that went away after the magnesium and calcium issues resolved...I still use papaya enzymes that has also amylase, lipase, and protease in them...They are chewable, and don't taste too bad!

They are the same color as nails, not very deep but definitely noticable. These ridges are especially noticable on the bed of my thumbs and also on the toenails of the big toes. Other fingernails/toenails don't seem to have ridges, maybe just a few small ridges on index finger nails.

This sounds like a fungal infection. You have mentioned the occurrence of ridges on the nails. Ridges on the nails may suggest underlying disorders like a fungal infection, anemia and dehydration. I am now being tested for parathyroid but only after insisting on it because this is the second time in the past year my vit d level dropped under 15. The bone pain in awful. My fingertips on my right hand have severe pain. It started in my pointer finger. I thought it might be ingrown fingernail so I used fingernail clippers to get it out(with no success of seeing signs of ingrown fingernail).. well each day i woke up it was in a different fingertip. This lasted about a week and went away. It came back a few weeks ago but much worse. All my fingertips are sore, but the severity of it moves every couple days to a new finger.

Since I've become pregnant I have noticed these small shallow holes in my nails. Not in all of them, but in most. My nails resemble golf balls if they hit the light just right. I know this sounds odd. lol. But I can't find anything online about this. They are not white spots, ridges, none of that. Like I said, the texture resembles that of a golf ball. I have been feeling unwell for past 2 years, started with dizziness, uncoordination, extreme fatigue. I noticed that photographs of my husband when he was a baby were very similar in appearance to photographs of my son when he was a baby, but it was harder to see the resemblance in person than in the photographs. And judging by appearance is not a sure way to know anything unless the two possible fathers look extremely different than another. Have you arranged for a DNA test yet?
