Avatar n tn Ridges, pits, thickening or thinning of nails may suggest an underlying infection, kidney disease or nutrient deficiency. In your case, differentials will be a fungal infection, psoriasis or it may be a benign presentation of an underlying infection. Do you have any other associated signs or symptoms like a rash or scaly plaque in other parts of the body?
Avatar m tn I'm not a psoriasis expert, but my husband has it. We tripped across the answer to his psoriasis accidentally. He was trying a gluten free diet for another reason and realized his psoriasis was clearing up after many, many years of having the problem. I looked it up on-line and found out gluten free eating can cure some cases of psoriasis. Gluten can also be behind some people's yeast infections. It would be wonderful if gluten was causing both your problems.
Avatar f tn Hello, All these skin problems are not related to each other and are independent. Psoriasis and genital warts is a long term chronic problem and pilar cysts, keloids and molluscum are not chronic. Psoriasis is a non-contagious disorder which affects the skin and joints. It commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin. It can be treated but it commonly has recurrences also. So a regular treatment is required for this.

Avatar m tn I was at the car park and the vallet brought me my car keys. While he was delivering me the keys his fingernail touched the place my fingernail meets my thumb. It was just a blink of the eye long touch. I have psoriasis (you may follow my previous questions to the expert forum about previous psoriasis issues) and at the time of the touch, it was a bit irritated with no open wounds or bleeding. Just red. I didnt see if the guy's fingernails had any sort of blood or not.
Avatar m tn My son has them, says he always feels like he has something in his throat, and has been suffering from a rash going on now for six months. The dermatologist diagnosed it as guttate psoriasis. When I read about it they say it comes from a strain on the immune system. Wondering if anyone with these tonsoliths had a rash as well? Thanks.
Avatar m tn back, she had skin eruptions mainly on her legs which was a suspected (on visual observation) to be psoriasis in the beginning. She used some skin ointments presescribed by the skin specialist and the eruptions went away. However, dark patches remained where these eruptions came. The paitient is distressed about the effect the disease is having on her appearance besides the pain it causes. Loss of hair, complexion and skin eruption patches to be specific.
Avatar f tn m sick and no one believes me cause my symptoms are sweating, weakness, bad taste in mouth and stomach irritation and newly diagnoses guttate psoriasis. I never feel good anymore but my blood tests are fine. My body is attacking itself. I feel better and then whammo - start feeling really bad again. Think it might be something with my immune system cause of the psoriasis but I'm starting to think it must be my stomach. Had bariatric surgery 12 yrs ago.
Avatar f tn The other possibility which can present with nail pitting as well thick, white, silvery, or red patches of skin is psoriasis. It is thought that psoriasis occurs when the immune system overreacts, causing inflammation and flaking of skin. My sincere advice is to consult a dermatologist and get these two possibilities probed. Blood tests and biopsy skin can help in confirming the diagnosis. I would suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get steroids prescribed.
Avatar n tn I have found a red bump in my pubis region about the size of a fingernail. It does not hurt but it is a hard, raised bump. It has a darker spot in the middle. Upon inspection, it seemed to get a bit angrier and swelled up a bit. I haven't had sexual contact with anyone in four years and have never noticed any kind of outbreak before. Does this sound like herpes? Could I have had it all along without noticing?
Avatar f tn Hello, Longitudinal lines across the nail can be due to vitiligo, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and if they are dark striations then melanoma should be thought of. You should get it checked from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
1067423 tn?1267740670 It sounds terrible. When I was getting chemo, I had an eruption of psoriasis and I lost my toenails and they aren't coming back....chemo ended 5 years ago. I hurt my toes all the time; but I know it would be much worse if it was my finger nails. I wish I could offer some help. Maybe someone will come along and know something helpful. Have you spoken to your doc or your chemo team about this? That's a good place to start. There has to be something out there that will help......
Avatar m tn I have severe irritation in and under my belly button. Iside is a cut that I admittedly think I caused with my fingernail, but I've done that before and it's gone away on its own. This has been with me for at least 10 days now and theirs a growth that's formed directly below my b.b. The growth isn't a zit, I can feel it's mass underneath the skin. It's small but irritated badly. Hurts if I touch it. ---Please tell me what this sounds like to you.
Avatar f tn This can go along with psoriasis.
Avatar f tn I have no heart problems, no ashma or lung problems. I have asked all my doctors but nobody can tell me why this is happening or what can be done about it. What next?
1833444 tn?1325557062 Agreeing with Advocate1955, be sure to discuss this with your doctor. There's a condition called 'Terry's Nails' that is sometimes associated with advanced liver disease: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry's_nails It doesn't really sound as though this is what you're describing, but you should let them know regardless.
Avatar m tn Rash LL 1 = left leg 1 - as the rash would appear from my POV to the naked eye Rash LL 2 = left lefg 2 - scratched the rash a bit to show that it presents dry skin when i run my fingernail over it. Discovered this just out of curiosity and playing with the skin, it actually doesnt feel dry or itchy or anything.

Avatar f tn Have you got any pictures of the skin issues? Preferably a picture of the beginning of a spot and another of a spot that has ulcerated or looks like a cigarette burn as you described would be best. Unfortunately the only way to get a diagnoses is to go see your doctor and because your little one is only 18m old you need to get him seen ASAP. If he has open sores/blisters he is risking skin infections like Staph or MRSA.
Avatar f tn ve been struggling with hormonal imbalance, thryoid problems, have no genetic markers for psoriasis, and my legs are covered in spots. My skin biopsy indicated psoriasis. I guess my question is: for skin biopsies, is the diagnosis given based on the rate of skin growth? Or are all cases of excessive skin growth termed "psoriasis"? Could this just be a hormonal problem?
Avatar n tn Not sure where you would look for more information on the level of psoriasis problems involved with interferon, or stats on how common the interaction is. Someone else here might know? Good luck.
Avatar f tn Is fingernails determine who the father is?
Avatar f tn Why is my fingernail on my middle finger starting to pull away from my skin and turn white and the bottom half is pitting and peeling? What could this be?
Avatar m tn com/skin-problems-and-treatments/psoriasis/scalp-psoriasis They also have topicals you can put on it and things that will make it peel. They sometimes use UV light treatment but this is a lot harder on the scalp if you have hair. A dermatologist has things they can prescribe. My son doesn't have psoriasis but another fungal issue. He uses a special shampoo that controls it.
