Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia symptoms diagnosis treatment

fibromyalgia

Avatar m tn But i experienced similar symptoms brfore starting v the treatment for hbv. 2 months after entecavir 0.5mg and vitamin d3 supplement (10000iu per day) i started feeling much better. However if you are on antiviral and you vitamin D levels are normal, then better to check with the doctor. These symptoms csn be caused by stress, anxiety, bad diet, less intake of water....
Avatar n tn I should mention I have a very low vitimin D level (5), and have been placed on a vitamin supplement. I am confused about the fibromyalgia diagnosis. I still continue to have elevated sed rate and CRP. I thought fibromyalgia did not cause these rates to be elevated. Also, from everything I read about fibromyalgia, the pain is intense, more like a nerve pain, and someone will hurt even if they are touched. My pain is more like a muscle pain and stiffness.
Avatar m tn Hello everyone! I would just like to thank you in advance for Reading my post. I am a 21 year old male who was once extremely active but my health has deteriorated over the past 5 years. I have been to over 25 doctor visits over the past 5 years but have been unable to find a direct cause for my symptoms. I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve had blood taken (>20 times).
Avatar f tn At this time, there is no "cure" for fibromyalgia - one main reason being is they have not determined exactly what causes fibromyalgia. There are many thoughts and ideas on it, however, nothing has been scientifically proven/discovered. There also are no specific blood tests, scans, etc., for diagnosing fibromyalgia = there ARE certain critieria that need to be met before a true fibro diagnosis.
Monster The descriptions of fibromyalgia symptoms read to me like a newspaper horoscope: the number of symptoms described can apply to just about any ambulatory human being. The typical medications indicated seem to antidepressants and pain relievers. Please give us the Clif's Notes version of fibromyalgia and if diagnosed, what are the treatments.
Avatar m tn After the endoscopy we were given the diagnosis of chronic fatigue / fibromyalgia . Having been initially relieved that we finally had a diagnosis we are now starting to think differently. Once you have been tarred with this brush it would appear the doctors are not interested. My concern is how quickly this diagnosis has been made. I've read people can wait years before getting this confirmed as tests for all other conditions are looked into.
Avatar f tn You have stiff neck? RA symptoms? Chronic hadaches? stomach and bowell issues? ovarian cysts or a hysterstomy? brain "fog", vertigo, anxiety? If so your Fibro might be in fact a mycoplasma infection or possibly Lymes. Can you give me a full report of your symptoms? Search www.immed.org and look under AI diseases/chronic illness.
Avatar n tn Lyme disease can cause all of those symptoms. My symptoms are all over but the neuro symptoms were mostly on the left side of my body. All my tests were normal too so I got the fibro diagnosis. I have improved considerably from antibiotic treatment.
Avatar f tn ve seen more posts lately of those who have very similar symptoms after completion of treatment and most often the end diagnosis is fibromyalgia. It is a chronic disorder and there is really no cure.
1536712 tn?1294043301 gadgets, how was your diagnosis for fibromyalgia different from your VDD? I mean, what symptoms were attributed specifically to each?

Avatar n tn For the past 5 years, I have suffered from fibromyalgia, this being a diagnosis made after I was originally diagnosed with bi-lateral thoracic syndrome. It took 5 mos to diagnos the bi-lateral tos, however, pulse studies verifided that when I raised my arm, my median nerve pulse diminished. I had the right side decompressed in July of 2004, which was the most invasive surgeries, and from what I understand, one of the most difficult surgeries to recover from.
Avatar f tn Some experts believe that a person does not need to have the required 11 tender points to be diagnosed and treated for fibromyalgia. This criterion was originally intended for research purposes. A diagnosis of fibromyalgia may still be made if a person has less than the 11 of the required tender points so long as they have widespread pain and many of the common symptoms and associated syndromes connected to fibromyalgia, such as sleep disorders and irritable bowel syndrome.
Avatar n tn Since my chemo and radiation I have complained about severe arm pain, to include my elbows, forearms, hands, and upper back and shoulders, my lower back hurts as well but not as severe. For 4 years, since treatment I have complained about the same symptoms, even when I am at the Dr. for something else, (I constantly get sick), why did it take so long to get this diagnosis? also, in the past few months my pain has increased in my shoulders, neck, arm and hands.
Avatar n tn My wife has a similar history... Fibromyalgia diagnosis...Severe burning pain, sensory neuropathy in hands, lower legs and face/ mouth. A fibromyalgia diagnosis is about like complaining of head pains and being diagnosed with a headache... doesn't explain the cause or underlying disease. Some experts have suggested Fibromyalgia may be a strange form of CIDP. Have you considered this? You lime titer will be negative. ANA likely negative also.
Avatar m tn It is a Rheumatologist who you must see for a fibromyalgia diagnosis and if positive, consequent treatment follows, prescribed normally by the Rheumatologist. There is no effective standard medical treatment for fibromyalgia other than symptom management, by the way. The suspected side-effects of the acupuncture cannot be attributed to the treatment itself, as it cannot be verified. Those " strange" side effects could be easily caused by stress alone.
Avatar f tn Hi Everybody, I just saw my doctor today to go over my test results and he said he's pretty sure that I have Fibromyalgia. All of my blood tests (SED, ESR, CRP, ANA, Lyme disease, Rheumatoid Factor, etc.) have come back as normal and the urine tests for muscle breakdown and polymyocytis and gout were all negative. He then said by process of elimination he believed that I had Fibromyalgia.
Avatar n tn You need to see a rheumatologist, a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of fibromyalgia.
