82861 tn?1333453911 My pain doc is great and I use the 50 mcg fentanyl patch, 25 mg phenergan 2 or 3 times a day and norco if needed for breakthrough pain. I also see a pain psychologist who has helped every bit as much if not more than my pain doc. My question is: have you ever seen any truly successful treatment of patients with adhesions, and does your recommended treatment differ from what I'm using?
Avatar n tn This one is a little different. You left the Fentanyl Patch out of the other one. I would think that you would have gotten some releif from that patch. As a nurse you should know that there is nothing that can be prescribed that will make you totally pain free. I would go back on the patch if they will give it to you again and get another series of epidurals. I was also try IcePaks/Heat and get a TENS Unit and apply stimulation at the same time as ice or heat.
Avatar f tn ve read where you could cut the patch if it was a mylan patch only. I also read where someone went from 50mg to 25 to 50 then went 25 to 50 to 25 and then 25 to 25 to 25mg as a way to work my was down on the dosage. I'm really scared.
Avatar f tn I know I'm obviously dependent on the Percocet...I'm just trying to figure out where the real me went after 4 years, 10 surgeries and lots of pain medicine. I just want to be me again. I see a Pain a Specialist who I adore and we've talked about weaning me down off the Fentanyl Patch...I'm currently on 75mcg of Fentanyl that I change every 2 days and I take 10/325mg of Percocet 4x a day...
Avatar m tn I was on methadone 30mg and morphine 120mg daily then was switched tot he fentanyl patch to get me off those then i switched to this patch. I have severe back pain and Hidradenitis suppurativa which tends to cause me quite a bit of pain. I am worried I will feel like this for a long time and that the patch wont help. the only thing that has helped is an opiate and I am refusing to take them.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you are working hard to detox from the Fentanyl Patch. I am glad you are succeeding in your goal. That's just great. Most of us on this forum are not detoxing. Due to the extreme CP most of us have we cannot live without out pain medications, which is what ever medication our physicians have prescribed. May I suggest that you also post your information on the Substance Abuse Forum. I believe that many of those members could benefit from your information and courage.
Avatar f tn Please help...I've decided to go off my pain meds and go on subutex and suboxone. So im on my second day of fentanyl 100mcg patch and dilaudid withdrawals. It's really bad already. Any suggestions how do you really know when your in full withdrawal. Before you start your subutex. Any and all advice would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn It doesn't sound like you are abusing the patches (not chewing them, right?) so I think a taper would be your best option unless you are worried you might abuse them. You can taper down to 50, then 25, then 12.5 mcg patches. Slowwwwly is the key. And with your doctors guidance. He will have a better idea on how long to keep you at each dose. Good luck, I hear those are pretty difficult withdrawals. You can use this community for support if you need us!
Avatar m tn ve held onto a used patch to wear one for appearances, but worry about Fentanyl not showing up in urine. I just opened my last patch and have 10 days before next refil. Would ingesting or chewing a piece be enough to have a positive urine test? How quickly does Fentanyl show in the urine? My previous tests have not been a problem because I've had 'accepted level' of Fentanyl....though I don't know what that is.
Avatar m tn Fentanyl to see what others are saying...that's a good idea even if i am not an abuser i doubt the withdrawal symptoms would be any different from anybody else in general. however, since i do not abuse them at all, i feel pretty confident that any symptoms i have will hopefully not be as severe. thanks for the reply!
Avatar m tn Hi Bob, thanks for the response, I was not aware that this site was for substance abuse but I guess that I'm afraid of substance abuse if I go on this patch. I've just been on so many sites in the past couple days and read so much information. No I don't believe myself to be an addict, I only take the pills when I'm at work because I stand on my feet for 8 hrs.
Avatar n tn Fentanyl patches can be very effective for severe chronic pain, and there is a low risk of abuse. If you need pain relief for nerve damage, ask you PM Dr. about the patch.
Avatar m tn What Im thinking about doing, is somehow ask my PCP to switch me to the same equivalent dose of a duragesic fentanyl patch. That way I would be away from the temptation of the having the pills just laying around for me to take at will. I could simply put on a patch and forget about it for three days. In your experience, what are my chances for success with getting away from the oxys by switching to the patch?
Avatar m tn I had similar problems with the patch. Although they say they are supposed to last 3 days, I was also on them very 2 days. I think the problem is indeed the "lag time" that it takes when a new patch must be applied. I wish this drug was made in a time release tablet like oxycontin and mscontin. It would be easier to control dosage levels, as well as be on the correct dose, and not feel side effects so much. It's a shame , since fentanyl worked great for my chronic pain.
Avatar f tn I have been on the fentanylpatch for 6 yrs. I went to my so called"pain management DR.(the only one that takes cash w/ no Insurance and told him I wanted off,not only because it makes my anxiety worse. He also has me on 10mg xanax, oxycodone 10 3 times a day.Fentanyl is down to 25mcg. He actually got angry and walked out of the room, called in 90 tramadol 50mg and .02 clonidine blood pressure patches.Tomorrow is the last day of my patch. Am I going to be okay?
Avatar m tn I now have great pain in both areas. I do not know what to do. I am on fentanyl at 50 mcg every three days and about 4 percocets per day for break out pain. Really this does not stop my pain so I am at the point of thinking after a couple of years of being on oxy and now this to just get off it all. I am very scared that I am addicted. Since I am going to have a lot of pain either way I am wondering if I should just try and come off it all ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn I too took myself off the fentanyl patch and should have gone to the hospital. I am 16 days and still feel weak and have little interest in anything. Sleep is the thing I need the most and can not seem to get a good few hours even. I wish anyone coming off this medicine the very best.
Avatar f tn I was thinking about this before I answered b/c it's quite the question....1. Are you ready to quit? You ran short to ward off w/d's so what makes the w/d's more doable now? Perhaps your thinking that the w/d's are not doable (which they are) and your just scared? Is it possible that when the 2 days are up you'll feel like **** so you'll be running back to the dr? It is VERY possible for you to be able to put the fentanyl down....just want to know if your really ready?
Avatar n tn Why are you looking to switch from the current patches you are on if you have found 1 that you aren't reacting to? I'm sorry to hear about your pain & the issues you have had with certain brands of the patches. I would recommend talking to your pharmacist about other Fentanyl patch options. They'll know better then anyone which ones are gel & which ones aren't. Sorry can't be of any more help.
4656367 tn?1360923003 I have a connective tissue disease called Dermatomyositis and I have been on the patch for two years. Recently I had a problem with the pharmacy refilling the patch one patch early. (It had fallen off.) My doctor prescribed my new patches three days early but they refused to fill it even though insurance cleared it.Since it was a Friday at 7pm and my doctor had gone out of town, I was stuck. It was the worse, most horrible experience of my life. I went from a 75mcg patch to nothing.
1507560 tn?1294774077 I also have been given the Fentanyl patch as the Doc know thinks I should on long acting meds. I have tried these on and off and I don't feel like I have any meds in my system at all, I posted once about why people are so addicted to the patch. I don't feel like they do anything for me. I have a new script for the 50 mcg but have not picked them up. I have used the patch to get by when I am out of Norco and to help with WD and get by until refill day of my Norco.
Avatar n tn I have been taking up to 12 percocets a day (sciatica) and now I've been given Fentanyl Patch (16.5 for a nominal in vivo delivery of 100 mcg/h fentanyl for 72hrs) and don't know what to expect, I'm alittle scared to put it on. Could someone tell me how they feel, I have 9yr old twins and don't want to be too zonked out. Thanks so much for any info, I'm so happy I found this site.
Avatar m tn What do you guys think about stopping the oxys and asking my doctor about the fentanyl patch. I think it would be a no brainer, I wouldnt be tempted to snort a patch and I wouldnt have the little pills laying around to be taken at will. Im not looking for a higher dose or stronger medicine. The oxy pain relief works great, but there all I think about. What do you think my doctors opinion might be and how would I explain this to her. I dont want her to think I am drug seeking.
Avatar f tn Ever since the second of this month, I have been using duragestic patch (fentanyl patch, mylan brand) and am having tons of trouble with it coming off or sweat blisters forming underneth, and itching. My doctor tells me to NOT cover it, even with tegaderm dressing... and to only put it on my upper arm or back... I sweat there a lot. I find I have better luck if i stick it to my side where the rib cage is. Better luck with it staying, that is.
