femara + follistim injectables worked for us several times (we did miscarry though) i used 5mg femara days 3-7 and follistim days 3, 5, 7 and 9 ...with IUI.. GOOD LUCK!!! it works for a lot of people!

t give Femara, but our new highly respected RE is putting me on Femara and has very high hopes. He said in some studies Femara is 2x more likely to result in pregnancy. Wish me luck! Any others had success with this vs clomid?

So I am on my first cycle taking clomid, and giving myself follistim imjections and an ovidrel injection. i was wondering if any of you ladies out there have been through similar cycles and how many did it take for you to become preggers? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I did femara with follistim(50) and it worked. Have a 6 month old baby girl.

we did 100iu of folistim the first day (cd3) then 75iu two more days.. (and femara cd3-7, with follistim every other day) and then had the ultrasound on cd10, had three good follies (i only have one working ovary : ( so i wished i would have had double that!) then one more shot of follistim that night 50iu.. we got preg the first cycle using it! we were actually moving to IVF that next month and me and dh had completely give up hope!

I haven't experienced headaches while taking shots, but I agree about the hot flashes! Have you experienced weight gain with the shots? I gain about 3-5 lbs with each round of shots. Luckily it has already started to drop from being off of it for two months. Do you get cycts on your ovaries when you go back after you start your cycle?

( ) and have been on femara.. we got preg on femara + follistim but unfortuntely miscarried.. so i'm back on the femara and follistim again (this is cd8) many people start taking it on day 5 of their cycle instead of day 3.. so if you cna't get it until then it should be ok.. we finally got our BFP while on femara,,, never used any other drugs beforehand, started right with femara, my RE really likes it, esp with endo patients.. it was our third cycle of femara, but also used low dose follistim, trigger (novarel) and IUI.. we have male factor, one ovary, endo, pcos and LUFS, ugh! i had three follies and two ruptured our bfp cycle...

two with low dose femara, and then the last one with 5mg femara +follistim and IUI which worked for us! GOOD LUCK!

follistim + femara, trigger (novarel) and IUI worked for us! after i think 19 months or so of TTC... we have pretty bad male factor, severe endo, pcos and one ovary, so we have just a few things going against us! the follistim is really really easy to use ( i did the shot in my stomach) the needle is soooo small that you really can't feel it.. i did get some headaches, but thats the only side effects i had.. the fact that you've been pregnant and carried to term is a great sign!

I am worried this may be too much taking both the clomid and follistim? At least that is a low dosage of follistim, right? I am very new to these injections so any comments are appreciated...I am soooo hoping we all get our Christmas miracles, Ladies!!!

I have started on my IVF meds. Only one more day on femara, and started the follistim at 225iu last night. It burns after injecting. I have had 5 pound weight gain since starting Femara. I think it is fluid retention. My stomach is bloated also. I am also on doxycycline and dexamethosone. Is the fluid retention normal, esp the abdominal bloating?

I took a couple of cycles off from medication and decided to try it again this month. I had 3 good sized follicles after the Femara and Follistim, then triggered Saturday night and had the IUI Monday (38 hours later). Now it's the torturous 2 weeks of waiting!!! Wish us luck! I took femara(generic letrazole) along with follistim and it worked first try, I am now 9w2d pregnant. I didnt have any side effects. And we did novarel to trigger ovulation so we were right on time. Hope it works for you too. Good luck.

RE just called and said to reduce follistim injections from 150 iu to 125 iu. Does that sound good?? Some of you have talked about using lower doses than me. That worries me. Do you think reducing it means things are working better than they originally thought?

hi im new to this forum to. i shoudl be getting af middle of next week and hopefully starting follistim and IUI.

we also have used femara, for quite a few cycles now! we have had two pregnancies (with femara +follistim and IUI) but miscarried unfortunately : ( it does have great results though, its great for endometriosis patients too, since it does overproduce estrogen like some medications..

I"m sorry to hear that..With just letrazole we havne't gotten preg, but we used only that and only 2.5mg once a day my first two cycles of IUI and were still learning things..like the fact that my follicles don't always/usually don't rupture: ( so the first cycle i had only one follie the second i had two, nothing ruptured the first and one did the second.. we have male factor and LOTS of other issues too..

I have mild PCOS and responded to Clomid with 1 follicle for two cycles (one bd, another iui). I skipped a month w/meds and O'd on my own. I just started Femara cd3-7 and Follistim 75 cd5-9, and haven't been able to find out any real live stories of BFP with this protocol, how many tries it took and number and size of follies normally seen. I was also wondering how many follicles is to few, and how many are too many where the RE could cancel a cycle in fear of OHSS?

t want e2 levels to be too high since that would indicate OHSS. I hope Follistim works for you and you will have a few nice follicles by the end of this protocol. I'll be looking for your update tomorrow. I hope your e2 keeps going up and your follies keep growing!!

I took a combo of tamoxifen and follistim for our first four rounds of IUI and each time my follicles were bigger than 20mm. but this time with follistim only I had one at 15mm and one at 13mm. I also have PCOS and am currently 6DPO. good luck!

How many tries did it take for you to get pregnant? Were you on any fertility drugs? Did you do IUI or IVF, with a known or unknown donor? My wife and I are going on our 5th month but 3rd try. The first month was on 50mg of clomid with 3 mature follicles and didn't get pregnant. Second attempt was on 75mg clomid with 7 follicles (5 mature and 3 close, skipped that one, didn't want to be "octo-mom") and last month was on 2.

side does not function due to severe endometriosis and an endometrioma destroyed it - had it removed by surgery, and we have lots of other issues too) we got preg using femara, follistim and IUI.. unfortuantely miscarred later , but trying again with the injectables and femara and IUI.. so hopefully it will work again! My RE no longer uses it for that reason and it can overstim you. My RE put me on Femara, follistim, estrace(to thicken the lining), novarell(hcg trigger) and progesterone suppositories. Worked like a charm first cycle. If your lining is too thick that can also interfere with implantation. Good luck.

t have any scar tissue or endometriosis during my lap, he wants me to try injectables next cycle too. But instead of follistim, he wants me to use femara with three shots of Menopur (day 3,5 and 7). So, unless I'm pregnant this cycle (I'm 6 dpo today), I'll be right behind you... Sorry I can't give you any info on follistim...but just wanted to wish you best of luck!!!

I had letrozole(femara) and follistim and only had 1. They should monitor you so you know how many follicles u produce before u do the hcg shot. Good luck.

I did find that the side effects of Femara were far less severe than the Clomid and, unlike Clomid, Femara does not affect your CM or thin out your uterine lining.
