Hello! yes as rjoshua said it doesn't thin the lining like clomid can.. also if your not doing IUI's it is "typically" better with cervical mucus than clomid.. doesnt' dry it out... some people respod better to clomid, some to femara, it really is different person to person of course! We have a femara ladies post somewhere on here! we've had a good number of BFP's on there! we did get preg with femara +follistim but unfortuantely miscarried later on...

I did femara with follistim(50) and it worked. Have a 6 month old baby girl.

we did 100iu of folistim the first day (cd3) then 75iu two more days.. (and femara cd3-7, with follistim every other day) and then had the ultrasound on cd10, had three good follies (i only have one working ovary : ( so i wished i would have had double that!) then one more shot of follistim that night 50iu.. we got preg the first cycle using it! we were actually moving to IVF that next month and me and dh had completely give up hope!

I haven't experienced headaches while taking shots, but I agree about the hot flashes! Have you experienced weight gain with the shots? I gain about 3-5 lbs with each round of shots. Luckily it has already started to drop from being off of it for two months. Do you get cycts on your ovaries when you go back after you start your cycle?

( ) and have been on femara.. we got preg on femara + follistim but unfortuntely miscarried.. so i'm back on the femara and follistim again (this is cd8) many people start taking it on day 5 of their cycle instead of day 3.. so if you cna't get it until then it should be ok.. we finally got our BFP while on femara,,, never used any other drugs beforehand, started right with femara, my RE really likes it, esp with endo patients.. it was our third cycle of femara, but also used low dose follistim, trigger (novarel) and IUI.. we have male factor, one ovary, endo, pcos and LUFS, ugh! i had three follies and two ruptured our bfp cycle...

two with low dose femara, and then the last one with 5mg femara +follistim and IUI which worked for us! GOOD LUCK!

follistim + femara, trigger (novarel) and IUI worked for us! after i think 19 months or so of TTC... we have pretty bad male factor, severe endo, pcos and one ovary, so we have just a few things going against us! the follistim is really really easy to use ( i did the shot in my stomach) the needle is soooo small that you really can't feel it.. i did get some headaches, but thats the only side effects i had.. the fact that you've been pregnant and carried to term is a great sign!

I did femara + follistim three times.. two out of those three have gotten preg! (miscarried both though : ( ) for me i think that i'm on the femara due to my endo.. it supresses estrogen so that helps the endo not get as bad i think.. GOOD LUCK!

I have started on my IVF meds. Only one more day on femara, and started the follistim at 225iu last night. It burns after injecting. I have had 5 pound weight gain since starting Femara. I think it is fluid retention. My stomach is bloated also. I am also on doxycycline and dexamethosone. Is the fluid retention normal, esp the abdominal bloating?

I took femara(generic letrazole) along with follistim and it worked first try, I am now 9w2d pregnant. I didnt have any side effects. And we did novarel to trigger ovulation so we were right on time. Hope it works for you too. Good luck.

hi im new to this forum to. i shoudl be getting af middle of next week and hopefully starting follistim and IUI.

we got preg our first follistim cycle! (it was our 3rd IUI with femara as well) we unfortuantely miscarried, but got pregnant several more times on follistim, usually the second or third cycle after starting back up again.. GOOD LUCK! let me know if you have any questions about it all! the shots aren't bad at all! : ) SSBD!

we also have used femara, for quite a few cycles now! we have had two pregnancies (with femara +follistim and IUI) but miscarried unfortunately : ( it does have great results though, its great for endometriosis patients too, since it does overproduce estrogen like some medications..

I"m sorry to hear that..With just letrazole we havne't gotten preg, but we used only that and only 2.5mg once a day my first two cycles of IUI and were still learning things..like the fact that my follicles don't always/usually don't rupture: ( so the first cycle i had only one follie the second i had two, nothing ruptured the first and one did the second.. we have male factor and LOTS of other issues too..

I have mild PCOS and responded to Clomid with 1 follicle for two cycles (one bd, another iui). I skipped a month w/meds and O'd on my own. I just started Femara cd3-7 and Follistim 75 cd5-9, and haven't been able to find out any real live stories of BFP with this protocol, how many tries it took and number and size of follies normally seen. I was also wondering how many follicles is to few, and how many are too many where the RE could cancel a cycle in fear of OHSS?

This is my first month on Follistim AQ. I started day 7 of my cycle, after 5 days of Femara beginning day 3. Today, day 9, I had my estrogen level drawn. I was supposed to hear from the MD about whether to adjust my Follistim dose today based on the level. I know my level was 123, but WHAT does that mean? Does anyone have any idea what it should be? Last cycle, we just did the Femara for 5 days, and had 2 follicles, but neither was mature enough to go any further.

My RE no longer uses it for that reason and it can overstim you. My RE put me on Femara, follistim, estrace(to thicken the lining), novarell(hcg trigger) and progesterone suppositories. Worked like a charm first cycle. If your lining is too thick that can also interfere with implantation. Good luck.

t have any scar tissue or endometriosis during my lap, he wants me to try injectables next cycle too. But instead of follistim, he wants me to use femara with three shots of Menopur (day 3,5 and 7). So, unless I'm pregnant this cycle (I'm 6 dpo today), I'll be right behind you... Sorry I can't give you any info on follistim...but just wanted to wish you best of luck!!!

I had letrozole(femara) and follistim and only had 1. They should monitor you so you know how many follicles u produce before u do the hcg shot. Good luck.

I did find that the side effects of Femara were far less severe than the Clomid and, unlike Clomid, Femara does not affect your CM or thin out your uterine lining.

letrazole + follistim worked for us several times (mc several times).. my RE really likes femara, i have severe endo so its also supposed to suppress the endo a little bit while other drugs like clomid can actually worsen endo.. i didnt have many side effects from it though, maybe a hot flash once or twice.. but it was a great combo the femara + follistim, its worked for a lot of girls on here! : ) GOOD LUCK to you all!!!!

I used it for 6 days but at around 225/300 units per day. You had mentioned that you might be doing 400 which is high. These pens are super expensive. They are about $1000- each.

So I have tried Clomid, leterzole, with no luck!! Doc wants me to try follistim with an HCG.. Has anyone had success with this.. I am kinda scared to try it!! I don't want 3 my first time!! LOL just one to start off with.. me and the Hubby have been trying for three years know. Doc says I have PCOS... Prayers for Baby!!

SO it was almost a success story, but when we got preg there was a genetic abnormality.. so the good news is that it deifntley happens and sometimes without any help with a morph of 2% along with female issues too!
