Common Questions and Answers about Fainting during a period

fainting

Avatar f tn Please drink plenty of fluids during this time. Get your hemoglobin level checked. Take a good multivitamin for a few months. Consult a gynecologist. Sometimes a hormone therapy is needed to control the painful heavy periods. At times it is due to endometriosis, ovarian cysts or uterine fibroids. In some cases it is hereditary. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please consult a gynecologist for this.
Avatar f tn She is tired a lot and extremely pale all of the time which made me think of being anemic. Her doctor said all labs are within normal range. She is usually on her period during the times she has fainted. Can someone suggest a specialist to take her to because I still feel there is something wrong. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.
917177 tn?1243354247 When you go to your appt just tell your parents you would like to talkt to your doc along for a min and that when you are ready you would explain it to them. Fainting is not a good sign, as a women you have low iron bc of AF(aunt flow) but if you have heavy blood loss and fainting your iron maybe to low. You should discuss these things with your doc and when your ready with your parents(@ least your mom). You are 18 you're a teenager but considered a young adult. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn Birth control can reduce the pain you experience during a period if you take it as directed. I had 7-day periods that were heavy with clots and debilitating cramps and lower back pains before getting on birth control. The birth control made my periods 2-3 days with light to moderate flow and few clots if any. I can now function rather than be forced to stay home from school or other activities due to my period.
Avatar f tn I read this and almost cried because this exact thing happens to me except that I don't faint during my period. It's all the time. Like the person above said, it sounds like an Iron problem. but it could also be an allergy. I have an allergy (i believe its dust mites because it happens year round... take care of yourself.
2132141 tn?1335678074 I have heard of urination syncope, where the vagal nerve (10th cranial nerve) gets over stimulated during urination and causes reduced heart rate, sweating, flushing, nausea, and even fainting (a vasovagal response can be triggered by several different things...take a look at Wikipedia's page on Vasovagal Response.) also, you might look up urination syncope... It is usually benign, but it can also have an underlying medical condition that needs to be looked at.
Avatar f tn I haven't done a lot of exercise in the past few years. Recently, I joined a softball team for the first time in 5 years. The first practice that we had, we stretched, ran to the fence and back, and then threw the ball back and forth. Immediately following throwing, I felt very light-headed and sick to my stomach. I ended up vomiting.

Avatar f tn Hi, you are right, I don't know what I had, but what I do know that the moment it happened, I felt my pulse (neck). Gloves are really sensitive so it's not that I had a distorted feeling. My normal HR during a race is about 160-180. Depends on how heavy the race was. So I presume before it started it had to be something like that. Then it felt my heart made a "hiccup".

917177 tn?1243354247 Is it normal for one to experience lightheadedness and fainting during menstruation? It's happened to me so many times before, typically as soon as my period/cramping starts I'll feel lightheaded, sweaty, and I'll fall to the floor and sit with my head on my knees. Occasionally this happens in the shower, or upon standing up if i wake up with my period, or even if it starts while I'm seated during a class.
Avatar f tn I haven't ever fainted although I came close a few times! My ob did say it was possible. I would let your dr know tomorrow just to be safe though.

Avatar f tn I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and since i was 12 weeks I have the tendancy to faint, i feel fine one minute and then the next im on the ground, but when i snap out of it i feel realllly energetic, its kinda weird. I asked my DOC about this and she said I need to get more snacks in during the day But I eat ALOT at least every 2 hours. I've heard this is normal through many pregnancies, but has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for anyone who can help.
Avatar n tn I wouldn't think that it was too common. I suppose it is related to your response to either pain or just the general surroundings. Some people get a sick or faint feeling when even going into a hospital. It's just a human reaction and everyone reacts differently to all kinds of situations. I wouldn't worry about it but you might mention it if you have any other type of procedure done in the future so the staff will be alert in case it might happen again. Regards ....
Avatar n tn I have been told that I have a conduction problem and may need a pacemaker. I have worn a 24 hr Holter monitor and am now wearing an event monitor. I did not have anything occur while wearing the Holter monitor and nothing has occurred as of yet while wearing the event monitor. My question is if nothing occurs while wearing this monitor is there another test to diagnose this problem?

Avatar f tn s very cyclic and it happens for about 3 days straight the week before my period. I also can get cloudy headed. I am really busy and sometimes get a bit sleep deprived so that may go hand in hand. Some of the other things may also be related and some not. Ringing in ears, for example. I get that but have had it on and off for years unrelated to hormones or menopause as I have inner ear dysfunction. It's common. Dry eyes are something that just happens with aging. I have that too.
Avatar f tn Has anyone passed out while pregnant? I had a scare the other day at work. I'm 17 weeks pregnant and it's my first pregnancy. I went to the ER and they ran a bunch of tests and made sure the babies heart beat was ok. The conclusion was that I was dehydrated. Drinking more fluids especially water is so important during pregnancy. They said it's really important to listen to your body. If you need to rest than rest. Lesson learned.
