Evista uterine cancer

Common Questions and Answers about Evista uterine cancer

evista

Avatar f tn Tamoxifin can cause blood clots and uterine cancer. Evista is a little better in the side effects I believe, however everyone is different. I also have ADH(atypical ductal hyperplasia) and it increased my risk from 1.6 to 3.2 which is doubled, so I am considering the same thing. I am also having pathology reviewed by yet another lab to be sure it is not DCIS, which I am sure the other pathology report is no doubt correct. The best thing for you to do is to research. Then make your decision.
Avatar f tn I have no known family history, but my mother died at 60 from complications from uterine cancer. I am post menopausal. When I was 49 my husband died and my periods just stopped suddenly and I had only hot flashes. But they were often and I would get drenched at work. So I took Prempro. I never stopped taking it because every time I tried the flashes came back. So when I found out ADH and LCIS is estrogen dependent, I weaned myself off the Prempro (all docs told me to anyway).
Avatar f tn Could my recurrence of Ovarian cancer be attributed to my taking Evista for a year? I had ovarian cancer 15 years ago and after surgery and chemo, and a "second look" surgery with multiple biopsies was considered cured.I had a complete hysterectomy and the cancer seemed to be contained in my left ovary. Last winter I found a lump in my left groin which was biopsied and diagnosed as ovarian malignancy.
Avatar n tn Is there any drug interaction between these two drugs ? I am taking Evista for Osteoporosis.
Avatar m tn Has anyone heard of taking Tamoxifen or Evista as a possible step in breast cancer prevention? My doctor has suggested it because I'm in a high risk category. I'm not sure what to do.
Avatar n tn There was no significant difference in noninvasive breast cancer rates or in overall mortality rates, but the Evista group had lower rates of invasive uterine cancer, thromboembolic events, and cataracts. (Other studies say there is no difference.) Both drugs carry risks, but can be very valuable in preventing BC in high-risk women (postmenpausal ones in the case of Evista).
Avatar n tn Hi, Hair loss in a known but not highly common side effect of Evista. If you do a search: "Evista and hair loss" you will find numerous references to this side effect. This link: http://www.ehealthme.com/ds/evista/hair+loss indicates that as of Sep. 15, 2013, 17,635 people were reported to the FDA to have side effects when taking Evista. Among them, 259 people (1.47%) have Hair Loss. Time on Evista when these people had hair loss: < 1 month 4.35% 1 - 6 months 4.
Avatar f tn Congratulations on your eight years! I hate to be the one to say this but there is no such thing as "out of the woods" with cancer, I wish there was. What you've done is reduced your risk for another estrogen positive breast cancer and ovarian cancer. But that doesn't mean you won't get a different type of breast cancer in the remaining breast tissue or another part of your body. But you know as well as I do that each year we are NED with cancer is better for our odds.
Avatar n tn hi this is my mums condition thats why im unable to give you the names of the tablets the main cause is 4 weeks ago she started on hormone tablets for breast cancer ,this is her 1st week on radiotheraphy,at the end of the week she has started with servere pains in the groins of her legs and has been unable to get out of bed cause she cant walk and if she trys to stand up she says it feels like her insides are going to fall out.
594002 tn?1256303782 Having fluid in the uterine cavity does not necessarily indicate uterine cancer. The presence of uterine fibroids, which are non-cancerous tumors in the walls of the uterus, may also lead to accumulation of intrauterine fluid by causing narrowing of the cervical opening. There is also a study done by Maturitas, et al (see http://linkinghub.elsevier.com/retrieve/pii/S0378512204001781) in which 74 postmenopausal women with endometrial fluid accumulation were evaluated. Only 5.
Avatar n tn Although you were dx with uterine cancer, I think you made a good choice by joining our community. There are probably many similarities with dx, tx and such. You'll find that we are pretty much a great bunch of women; I just wish we didn't have to meet this way.
492490 tn?1255405372 There are also stage III clinical trials for Ovature out there to make you sensitive to platin again -- my doctor also keeps talking about Navelbine as a possible alternative treatment, although my research showed it mainly is used for small cell lung cancer. The Femara, Evista, and Arimidex and Tomoxifen are all used to try to stall the need for chemo again, but don't make anything go away, they just slow it down if the do anything at all,.
Avatar n tn I am having a biospy sterotatic biopsy April 22nd, of four clusters of microcalcifications. The radiologist also said, I have other calcifications scattered in both breast that are not clustered. If we are taking the biopsy of only the clusters what can be done for the other scattered ones and what are causing these microcalcifications? Can I help to prevent them? I also wonder if I will have problems with my breast after the biopsy, bleeding or infection.
Avatar f tn I had a mammo that shows a cluster of 4 oddly shaped calcifications, Anyone have this and it not be cancer? I am 53 with aunts with breast cancer. This discussion is related to microcalcifications.....
1850203 tn?1325253608 is there a relationship between uterine fibroids and endometrial cancer? this was so long ago, I forgot.
Avatar n tn CA125 test shows 30.5 U/ml of reading. And TV sonography suggest Uterine Fibroid. Kindly suggest what does it mean. Does my wife has ovarian cancer?
600561 tn?1326845621 I am 68 and all tests indicate that I am in very good health. For the moment, my only perscription drug is Evista. Where can I go with this question? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your insight!! Wishing you health and happiness!!! I am thinking even if the surgery shows 'worst case scenario' I have a good probability of successful treatment. It seems Uterine Cancer at least is very treatable if caught early. Thank you again!!!! Stay well!
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer, and have already had the cancer frozen off. However I had an ultra sound done prior to the surgery to freeze off the cancer, but when I went back to my Dr for a concern that I had been on my menstrual cycle for 2 months and I was also concerned that my Mirena UAIDwas in place and had not floated into my fallopian tubes. Well, after this last ultra sound my Dr told me I had a uterine fibroid that was the size of a grape.
Avatar n tn Why does your doctor say you have to have surgery for a uterine polyp? I just got back a report yesterday of a transvaginal ultrasound and it says I have a mass protruding into my uterine lining, suggestive of a polyp. It doesn't say how big it is and they don't say I should have a biopsy. I had my first transvaginal ultrasound in the Fall of 2006 because my internist gave me a prescription for it because I had spoting in between my period since The Fall of 2005 at age 40 and a half.
Avatar n tn The surgeon said that another surgery would increase my odds of not getting cancer, but that I did not have to have the second surgery. He also suggested that I might try Evista. I am concerned about the fact that the margin was very small. I would like some advice on these issues.
Avatar f tn How long should a woman stay on Evista if no negative side affects?
Avatar f tn But then, nobody is going to come to any bc cancer forum to share that they have no side effects from tamoxifen. It's only brought up when side effects are involved, right? So, there may be a good many who don't have those negative symptoms. It's just that I wouldn't know about those people and have never heard from them. cheers, kat PS: A 2 year old? Don't they burst with energy. You must mean like myself, 200 year old.
Avatar f tn ve also had uterine cancer. It helps to remember that uterine cancer is highly curable, much more so than ovarian cancer. I think I read that it tends to be a slow-growing cancer as well. Radiation is often the treatment of choice for most uterine cancers. Compared to chemo, it was a walk in the park! Nothin' to it! You might want to do some research about the hospitals nearby and see what kinds of treatments and facilities they offer. Best wishes to you.
Avatar n tn However, my Amylase continues to be elevated and I am concerned, as is my doctor, about chronic pancreatitis leading to pancreatic cancer. I do not drink Alcohol and have not for 20 years. Can you offer any ideas for cause of the pancreatic enzyme elevation and treatments?
