Common Questions and Answers about Evista endometrial cancer

evista

Avatar f tn Could my recurrence of Ovarian cancer be attributed to my taking Evista for a year? I had ovarian cancer 15 years ago and after surgery and chemo, and a "second look" surgery with multiple biopsies was considered cured.I had a complete hysterectomy and the cancer seemed to be contained in my left ovary. Last winter I found a lump in my left groin which was biopsied and diagnosed as ovarian malignancy.

Avatar f tn Hi, I'm ok, but I think about this every day since I found out. It bothers me more than I thought it would. I have no known family history, but my mother died at 60 from complications from uterine cancer. I am post menopausal. When I was 49 my husband died and my periods just stopped suddenly and I had only hot flashes. But they were often and I would get drenched at work. So I took Prempro. I never stopped taking it because every time I tried the flashes came back.
594002 tn?1256303782 Recently had transvaginal ultrasound, came back with endometrial fluid, just had endometrial biopsy and DNC. Dr told me fluid in cavity was not a good thing to have and is a sign of uterine cancer. Well you can believe I am scared and need to wait 10 days for results. Can the fluid be cause by anything else besides cancer?

Avatar f tn Congratulations on your eight years! I hate to be the one to say this but there is no such thing as "out of the woods" with cancer, I wish there was. What you've done is reduced your risk for another estrogen positive breast cancer and ovarian cancer. But that doesn't mean you won't get a different type of breast cancer in the remaining breast tissue or another part of your body. But you know as well as I do that each year we are NED with cancer is better for our odds.

Avatar f tn I had stage 4 endo at age 33 and the doctor said I needed a full hysterectomy which removed ovaries, uterus and cervix. The doc said it was so bad that if I don't have the surgery when I menstruate I would cough blood if it moved to my lungs. I had the surgery and have been on the estradial patch for at least 5 years. I am on .1 and .5 patch every 4 days. I am now 40 and just went to a new doc and she was shocked I was on such a high dose.
967168 tn?1477584489 I know I shouldn't worry but I've ignored symptoms for a year that points to Endometrial Cancer and it's a common cancer that can be caught early and treated. Here's where I'm beating myself with worry, I haven't had a GYN exam since 2007 and I've been going to the same dr since 1998 so he knows me and my symptoms very well.
492490 tn?1255405372 There are also stage III clinical trials for Ovature out there to make you sensitive to platin again -- my doctor also keeps talking about Navelbine as a possible alternative treatment, although my research showed it mainly is used for small cell lung cancer. The Femara, Evista, and Arimidex and Tomoxifen are all used to try to stall the need for chemo again, but don't make anything go away, they just slow it down if the do anything at all,.
Avatar f tn A cancer that comes from the lining of the uterus is called endometrial cancer. A cancer that comes from the ovary is called ovarian cancer. Treatment for both cancers involves in part, at least, the removal of the uterus, cervix, right and left fallopian tubes and ovaries. For ovarian cancer , it is rare to not need chemotherapy. That is for just about all women unless it is a stage I cancer, they will need chemotherapy.
Avatar n tn Diagnostic considerations of postmenopausal bleeding include vaginal atrophy, endometrial atrophy, endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial cancer, endometrial polyp, and medications. Good luck with the biopsy.
Avatar n tn HI, The endometrial thickening of 16mm does need evaluation. This could be because of endometrial hyperplasia or polyps or endometrial cancer. D&C and hysteroscopy will help make the diagnosis. Regarding the previous episode, probably nothing was done as the report was normal. If there is endometrial hyperplasia, this can progress to cancer and treatment with progesterone is helpful. Discuss with your Doctor. Take care and good luck.
Avatar f tn My endometrial biopsy came abnormal, it does not say anything about cancer . It says they found polyps . I am confused , because I thought endometrial biopsy was suppose to find cancerous cells .
Avatar f tn I did my endometrial biopsy, it come abnormal. It does not say if it’s cancer or not. It just says I got endometrial polyps. Since, The endometrial biopsy is abnormal does that mean those polyps are cancerous. Help please thank you.
Avatar n tn I lived with it for about a year before going back to the doctor due to poor insurance during that time. Now he feels it could be endometrial cancer or a return of the polyps. My fear is that I have had cancer this whole time and he missed it the first time around. Shouldn't I have had a reduction in the bleeding at least for a short time? I am only 39 yet very overweight which greatly increases my chances. I feel it is highly unlikey that my scheduled ultrasound will show polyps.
Avatar f tn Then they noticed that cases of endometrial cancer among Premarin users were going through the roof - the Premarin was causing endometrial hyperplasia, which was placing these women at high risk of endometrial cancer. It was then that they developed Prempro, which adds progestins to the mix, and supposedly reduces these risks.
Avatar n tn I am having a biospy sterotatic biopsy April 22nd, of four clusters of microcalcifications. The radiologist also said, I have other calcifications scattered in both breast that are not clustered. If we are taking the biopsy of only the clusters what can be done for the other scattered ones and what are causing these microcalcifications? Can I help to prevent them? I also wonder if I will have problems with my breast after the biopsy, bleeding or infection.
