Avatar f tn I have been using the estrogen patch (Vivelle dot .1) since my surgery and have had no problems with hot flashes. However, for the past 8 months I having been getting hot flashes every now and then. Is this normal? When I mentioned it to my doctor, he just said I was already taking the highest dose the patch comes in and didn't like the idea of me using the oral kind. I'm just wondering why this would start after so many years and if anyone else has experienced this.
Avatar f tn Hi Judy! You asked about hot flashes and B6 toxicity. All I can tell you is I started having hot flashes and B6 symptoms the very same month I went into menopause. It was like my body chemistry changed and I could no longer metabolize the B6. My hot flashes have subsided now with the help of taking herbs prescribed by a dr of oriental medicine and accupuncture. Like you I tried conventional methods to reduce my hot flashed but nothing helped until I found a licensed dr of oriental medicine.
279234 tn?1363105249 Hi, I'm 37 and I've had a whole list of complications when it came to female issues. I had a partial hysterectomy in 2006 due to a prolapsed uterus. In 2008, I develop a hemorrhagic cyst on my left ovary. It grew to the size of a grape fruit and relocated to where my uterus use to be, attached itself to my abdominal wall, bladder, and bowel.
Avatar f tn Started having sever hot-flashes so my doctor put me on the Vivelle Dot. It took care of the hot-flashes but caused me to gain 10 pounds in a 6 week period. My doc said the weight gain was from menopause. Well, I took the patch off 2 weeks ago and threw it away, and I have now lost 6 of those pounds and feel much better. I think it was causing depressiont too. I have been on bio-identical hormones for a few years - progesterone cream and DHA cream - and have done fine.
429647 tn?1249753429 how about asking your doc if the tumor was estrogen positive or not.
Avatar f tn 1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up. When I mentioned this to him at my last exam he basically told me unfortunately I am on the highest patch dose and he does not want me to take oral estrogen since there are higher risks so nothing he could do.
Avatar n tn the product I used ( my main symptoms where hot flashes, night sweats) was the Vivelle estrogen patch. Your Dr can and should do blood work, because even though it may seem not your ovaries are still trickling just a bit of estrogen so you need to know your hormone levels ( Dr does) to prescribe correct combination or single hormone, what ever you may need.
Avatar f tn I have been on estrogen replacement since my surgery in 1998. I still have moderate-severe hot flashes and they seem to be getting more intense with age. I switched from oral Premarin which covered me pretty well but I didn't want to be taking pills the rest of my life. Since then I have tried a variety of patches that are really not very effective on a regular basis and very expensive. At my age, what do you recommend. Is Premarin dangerous (risk of DVT).
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi, I'm on a HRT (Vivelle-Dot) but I'm also a limbolander, but I might be of some help. I was put on Vivelle-Dot after loosing all my hormones due to a hysterectomy. Both Vivelle-Dot and Climara seem to contain estradiol (a form of estrogen bioidentical to your body's own). In the summer, I have been on this med for a year. I was put on this med right after my last form of hormone was removed (which was one ovary by this point).
Avatar n tn ve suffered from extreme hot flashes to the point where I was on a snowing mountain and had to strip off to a singlet. It happens daily, Is this normal- or a side affect from my period?
Avatar f tn My doc mentioned estrogen too, if my hot flashes were too much but I declined. The hot flashes actually went away for about 6 - 8 months and I thought maybe it was a change of climate and also I did some online reading and found that some women say some foods, like spicy foods might trigger hot flashes so I limited my diet. They're back now though and I'm not sure why except I am back to eating more variety in foods, even spicy foods.
709441 tn?1233340088 What is happening when I have hot flashes. They are bearable, I'm just curious what is going on. I had a tah on monday and started hot flashes that night.
Avatar n tn I had a complete hysterectomy when I was 31 yr i had yrs of hot flashes and i was on HRT for 11 yrs. I am now 50 and still have the occasional hot flash or night sweats it gets better with time the generalized weak feeling and frequent urination i think comes with the change of life which you'll probably go thru slowly. Take care and go slow but if your lightheadedness don't stop tell your dr maybe your meds are too strong or not strong enough. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I take estrogen patch & medroxyprogesteron pill &also I have hot flashes. I'm only 33yrs old.
Avatar n tn I would say it took 2 weeks for me to be symptom free,,,,,I recently ran out of my patch and tryed to stop using it in 2 days I was cranky, having hot flashes and not sleeping,,,My doctor now is suggesting that I use it for 3 weeks on one week off.
Avatar m tn If you try a testosterone trial and still have hot flashes, then it could be estrogen that is leaving your system. Not that men have very much estrogen, but I've read that they do have a little, the same way women have some testosterone. If you want to try estrogen, after giving the testosterone a trial and if you find it does nothing, call the same doc who prescribed the testosterone and tell him that it's not doing anything, and ask about getting an estrogen prescription.
16702 tn?1234090645 Kimchi, if we need to avoid estrogen, then I am not sure if this is good, especially for anyone who's cancer is estrogen receptor positive. I have heard that they should avoid all estrogen and even nautral. Remember all the talk we did about Oestrogens and parabens etc.? I think this would be included in that. Hope all is well with you! Don't see you on the board as much since it has changed.
437027 tn?1670266352 I had a partial Hyst 3 yrs ago and the rest out a year ago. I started hot flashes the day after surgery. The hot flashes and insomnia are nothing comapred the the pain I had for many years (20 yrs) Although I was only 38 when I had the Hyst, I can say that it has not been as bad as I though it would be. I take Ambien to help me with the insomnia and it has really worked well for me. Good luck to you and your "new" adventures..............
1129774 tn?1279831762 I am currently on .1 vivelle dot patch and I am doing okay. I have no hot flashes, but I still have extreme dry eyes, vaginal dryness, and muscle aches in my upper back. It seems the symptoms get worse one day before I am supposed to change the patch. I have read that some women can burn through the estrogen quicker. My dr. gave me samples of the Divigel to try instead. I really want to stay on the patch bc of the ease of use.
Avatar m tn I would like to take estrogen to help the menopause symptoms still driving me crazy one year after surgery and chemo for ovarian cancer stage 2c - I also had a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy as I have a history of breast cancer in my family - I have heard the HRT can increase the incidence of OC but I am wondering if an estrogen patch would be safe as I have had my ovaries, uterus, tubes, cervix, and breasts removed surgically.
Avatar f tn Those injections put me into INSTANT menopause and I started experiencing for the first time in my life SEVERE anxiety and depression (along with hot flashes, night sweats, etc.) HRT was not effective back then because Lupron blocks estrogen receptors - although my doc put me on Premarin anyway, leading to severe morning sickness on top of it all! I was only able to tolerate 3 of the prescribed 6 injections.
Avatar n tn Hi I am having extreme hot flashes and night flushes. I have been on the patch for twoand ahalf weeks now. I am still having severe flashes, maybe it will take some time! I have been like this since2005. Please help with any home remedy that can help out! We all should write a book about this! It would encourage the People that is sure to go through this sooner or later!
Avatar f tn I had hysterectomy in my 30s in mid 40s was having hot flashes and md put me on estrogen AND started treating Hashimoto. I developed numerous breast lumps went to MDA and found only cyst caused by the estrogen. The MD there said my hot flashes were not menopause they were from the thyroid.
Avatar f tn Maybe Premarin is not a good fit for you since you still have (insane) hot flashes. Have you tried any other types of estrogen such as a gel, patch, or the estradiol tablet (generic Estrace)? I had to switch HRT's because the first one I was prescribed left me with too many low E symptoms.
Avatar n tn Many women suffer from hot flashes caused by these medications but can find some relief when they avoid hot and spicy foods, caffeinated drinks, alcohol and smoking and having lots of fans in the house...LOL. I hope that your wife will soon consult with her Oncologist and see what can be done to relieve her discomfort. All the best to both of you...
Avatar n tn I think the most common symptom of low estrogen is hot flashes. If you're not having those, you might be OK on the amount of estrogen. Try what the gyn says and if it doesn't work, get your dose tweaked.
