Avatar f tn You may even want to consider a short style until at least 6 months postpartum, when estrogen levels return to normal and hair loss is minimized.
Avatar m tn Not sure if I am posting in the right place, but I was wondering if any heavy drinkers experienced hair loss ONKY on their shins/lower legs? I notice thinning there and have read that it could be a consequence of alcohol consumption. Then again I'm 42 and i imagine that testosterone loss can be the culprit. Any ideas? Much thanks.
Avatar f tn I am a female 44yrs and about a month ago my hair started falling. I have had blood tests done (all normal) invested in a hairvite and Vigro tonic for hairloss and thinning but still falling at an alarming rate. PLEASE HELP!! Anything other than corticosteriods which has many side effects such as WEIGHT GAIN!!
Avatar f tn I know that the testosterone could be the culpret with hair loss, but the suddenness of the hair loss makes me question whether it is the cause. I have an appointment in a few weeks with my GYN to discuss my October lab work. I am in my late 50's and I don't think that many women in their 50's and 60's know how much better testosterone can make you feel - energy and sense of well being. I hope that I don't have to give it up.
Avatar m tn Both of you are having problems with hair regrowth after treatments, if you are getting very thin and fine hair, then have it cut like what is called and Italian cut with a razor and very short that will give it strength for follicular oxygenation and take Biotin [H] a vitamin for hair regrowth. Please ask your doctors if you can take Biotin, if so then you will see it grow healthy and strong in a few months. Good luck.
Avatar f tn In January I noticed hair loss on my head. Now it's not only noticeable to me but others can see it, and I just noticed a few days ago that I've lost hair on my arms and legs, too. It seems my hair is growing slower. I have fine hair to begin with and didn't have much to spare on my head. I don't mind the loss of it on my arms and legs because I had plenty there! Any ideas on what causes hair loss all over your body?
Avatar n tn I started taking a DIM supplement (Genius Estrogen Balance) a couple of weeks ago and within a little over a week of taking it, my hair started falling out. Aside from the hair loss, my results from taking the supplement were great (more energy, better mood, more mental clarity, reduction in bloating, better workouts). I continued the supplement for a couple more days after noticing, but discontinued use in hopes that my hair loss would stop.
Avatar f tn Estrogen deficiency is what occurs from loss of an ovary. And depression is common from premature estrogen deficiency. This study talks about it (copy and paste into your web browswer) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6196781/ Depression is treatable though. Your doctor could visit the idea of hormone replacement. But probably a better idea is treatment for depression that could be short term. An SSRI can be very beneficial at times like this.
Avatar m tn I was having usual symptoms of hypothyroidism - fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, hair loss, etc. Have been on Levothyroxine for several months now and have seen improvements in all symptoms except hair loss. I'm also on Plavix (due to a TIA), which I understand can also cause hair loss. I started on it shortly before beginning to exhibit thyroid symptons. I've had breast cancer, so can't take estrogen.
Avatar n tn are there any known medications out there that could act as an alternative to birth control when used to treat hair loss? And I am not referring to rogaine or propecia or anything like that. A pill that mimics what the estrogen in the Yasmin does to prevent my hair from falling out?
Avatar n tn Hi Dr.Kaur, do you know if hair loss and texture returns to normal after lowering the prolactin? I am about to begin taking Cabergoline.
Avatar f tn Would like to know if Evening Primrose Oil has helped anyone who is losing their hair....and what dosage was used. Also, is it the thyroid condition that causes the hair loss or the Synthroid. \ I have had Hypothyroid for over 2 years...was not given medication until 8 months after all my symptoms and went steadily downhill feeling like someone 80 when I was a healthy, active 60 year old....had all the symptoms, weight gain, lack of interest in life, major brain fog etc etc....
Avatar f tn Test showed high testosterone, high estrogen, and darn near no progesterone. Prescribed est. and prog. and those are supposedly good now...but if I'm normal how come i feel AWEFUL? I'm exhausted, wake up 3 or 4 times throughout the night, am gaining a LOT of weight (30 lbs in the last 6 months) and while i admit i dont always eat healthy...there is NO way im eating enough to warrant that...
Avatar f tn ve been reading about as I asked for progesterone and estrogen testing - thyroid was not something I considered. Thanks for any help or insight.
Avatar f tn i have been diagnoed underactive thyroid for 11 years now, i get my blood levels measured avery 6 months and they are stable, i take 200mcg levothyroxine daily, so how come i still get all the symptoms, hair loss, dry skin, feel cold, depression, tired, and i was never so heavy as now, ever, seem to have a slow metabolism, although if i strict diet it does slowly come off, but whos gonna diet theyre whole life,i do eat healthily, always low fat options, welcome any opinions
721523 tn?1331581802 My sister who is dx with MS started losing her hair and she thought it was due to the meds she was taking but went to the doctor and got tested and they found she had to much testastarone in her system so they gave her some meds to level it out with the estrogen and she is doing well with no more hair loss. And she regrew the hair she lost. I hope you find out what is causing the hair loss.
1330108 tn?1333677304 ), think again. Postpartum symptoms can be equally funky…and seemingly random. Take hair loss, for example. Many women find that their hair falls out — sometimes in huge amounts — after having a baby. But before you start to worry that there's more hair on your brush than on your head, you should know that you're not going bald; you're just catching up on normal hair loss.
Avatar f tn I just remembered how my hair fell out a lot after my first child was born, before I was hypoT. Maybe ANY hormonal imbalance contributes to hair loss? We all know how a limping thyroid throws the entire hormonal (aka endocrine) system out of balance. Perhaps once our thyroid is balanced, we still have to contend with getting all our other hormones balanced. Maybe having our thyroid back up and running isn't enough to repair and balance the rest of our system that got out-of-whack.
Avatar n tn m ready, is there an alternative pill to birth control that will combat the hair loss. It is the yasmin birth control that is stopping my hair from falling out and helped regrow hair. So I was wondering if there is medication that contains whichever ingredients are contained in birth control that has aided in my hair regrowth that I could take so that I can go off the pill when I'm ready to get pregnant and not have my hair fall out again.
Avatar m tn Increased testosterone can also lead to liver damage, hair loss and increased acne due to oily skin, as well as an enlarged prostate. Can I have an honest scientific answer besides the typical "drugs are bad mmmkay." ? I also always see the response " as a younger athlete, hormone levels are already high enough" This may be true, being hearing about people gaining 10 lb's of muscle while simultaneously losing body fat makes these compounds desirable to teenagers.

Avatar f tn I hope no one is offended at mentioning my puppy, but my husband and I have been stumped about why her hair fell out, the vet said it was not the tramadol, but its the only thing that changed. Good luck to all you people suffering hair loss, and hopefully it grows back.
