I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.
The good thing is that you missed the estradiol and not the prometrium. Estrogen stays around in the body much more than progesterone does. My estrogen was in twice-weekly shots, and when I asked my doctor why they prescribed that I take them Wednesday evening and Sunday evening (clearly not exactly the halfway point in a given week, it was an every third day, every fourth day schedule) I was told there was still residual estrogen from the last shot even by the fourth day.
A number of 80 seems very high for your age...I wonder if there could be another reason for the high number. I'm not really familiar with what is normal when going through premature ovarian failure; but in general, normal levels are between 3 and 20, with 20 being very hard to stimulate. If I were you, I would ask your doctor for a referral to an RE (reproductive endocrinologist...or fertility specialist).
My OB/GYN gave me Progesterone (prometrium 100mg per day) to take after ovulation. I have been doing this for several months now. I recently started seeing a RE and when I told him I start the prog either 1dpo or 2 dpo, he freaked out telling me that I should not start them until 4dpo because talking starting it any earlier than 4dpo would cause me not to ovulate properly. I always start prog after I get a +opk one day and a temp increase the next day (which I count as o day).
I honestly don't know what type of discharge I had right after my BFP, as I was on Prometrium and estradiol supplements, but I had twinges and slight cramps from about 7-8 dpiui up until almost 8 weeks. I still get them occasionally although not as often.
Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel. What other alternatives would you suggest to the 100 mg. prometrium?
I am really stressing. My progesterone has gone up each time. I am taking 2 mg Estradiol 3 times per day and am now on the patches changing them every day. Any ideas? Does this mean I am not pregnant?
This is my first month on Clomid, 50mg cycle days 3-7. I was also on Estradiol cycle days 8-12 and am now on progesterone suppositories cycle day 17 until I get my period or a positive pregnancy test.
I had an HCG trigger shot 10,000 units (Profasi, Pregnyl) on cycle day 15.

Considering my age, and from my limited knowledge,
it seems like my FSH and Estradiol levels are not out of whack.
However, could you please let me know what you think about
my progesterone level. It seems low to me.

been on different antibotics was tols it was clear but i still have burning,now im on estradiol 1 mg and prometrium 100 mg i have no uterus and she ordered me testotestorone from a compounding pharmcay..
You should call your nurse and ask her about the stain. Originally my doctor said i would be on progesterone for 8 weeks but I only ended up taking the progesterone shots and suppositories from 2/20 - 3/12. My levels were high enough that I was able to switch from shots to pills. I'm now taking ESTRADIOL 2MG TABLETS (2x a day) and PROMETRIUM 200MG (3x day). It seems to be working. I now only have blood draws every 2 weeks.
i went to a local nurse practioner in my town and she is against hormones but put me on a low dose of menest after about i amonth i felt almost normal but still no sex drive or energy so i had an app with dr who checks blood hormones and i was low on everything so she switced me to estratest but after a week heartrate went up(dont know if it was the estratest or antibotic i was on) but she switchedme to estradiol and also put me on prometrium a progestaron and a compounded hormone creme,i had to
I am 55 and went through menopause almost 5 years ago. I use a generic weekly estradiol patch (.1 mg) and Prometrium (200 mg) every night due to extreme menopausal symptoms. I change my patch on Monday evenings. I bleed for several days beginning every other Monday. Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?
My reproductive endo says I am low in estrogen (I am 32) so I am contemplating some sort of hormone replacement therapy (Vivelle-dot and prometrium). My estradiol levels have come back repeatedly on the low end (in the 60's or 40's) but my FSH levels are normal. My last estradiol was taken on day 12 and it was 40 which is low but I don't have regular cycles. Honestly, I don't know if the low estradiol would cause the weight gain...
Low vit D, A1C creeping up, very high good and bad cholesterol, crazy high estradiol and high estrone, (was on oral estradial) low cortisol 7-9am and 10-12pm, high melatonin 3-5 pm and 2:30 to 3:30.
I stopped the estradiol, have been taking many supplements for a year since these tests to support adrenals and thyroid support complex, plus prometrium to balance out the high estrogen.

I am on day 11th post trasfer (had a 3 day transfer) and my HPT is negative. My beta test is scheduled for this Thursday (3 more days to go). Is it possible to still get a positive beta even if you keep getting negative HPT? My symptoms have subsided; whatever symptoms I do have, I think are from the progesterone and estradiol meds I'm still on. I had no bleeding and my period has not come (last week).
I was impregnated through sexual intercourse, and without the use of fertility treatments, in January 2011. I then had a miscarriage in February 2011. Miscarriage was the result of a lack of prodestron & having a smooth lining of the uterus walls. Because of this the embryo was unable to implant itself. Since then I am no longer involved with my boyfriend. I began fertility treatments and had taken 150mgs of clomid for five days.
It probably never will be as very very few women would ever be willing to be part of a test group for drugs. Even prometrium, a very common medication taken by women in first trimester (it is progesterone) said not to be taken while pregnant when I looked it up on line, yet a very high amount of women on this forum (myself included) have taken it during pregnancy.
The most important thing in this process (well, besides conceiving..lol) is to be your own advocate. Call the Dr.
My husband and I have been trying to conceive since September, 2008 with no baby yet. The doctors know that I have endometriosis and have tested me for P.C.O.S. but all the test results have come back that I DON'T have PCOS which is definately a blessing. However, I had a laparoscopic surgery in December of 2008 to take out any endometrial cells and ever since then, my periods have been completely irregular to non-existant.
