Hi, everybody. I've been experiencing hot flashes, hair loss, irregular periods, and dry eyes for several months. I had my hormone and thyroid levels tested twice, and, while everything technically came back normal, my estradiol (52 pg/ml) level concerns me. I've read that anything below the 50 pg/ml mark is not a good sign. Is this true? Does this number suggest that I'm in the early stages of premature ovarian failure, or are there other causes of low estradiol?
I was put on Estradiol 1 mg. did well for one year. Then started getting severe hot flashes and facial hair growth, wasn't sleeping well either. So, I took it upon myself to stop the Estradiol. Oh my goodness, what a huge mistake! I lost HUGE amount of my hair, went to hospital twice because of labored breathing, nearly everywhere I touched my arms Id have bloody bruising, sleep was only dozing, that list could goes on. So then, I went to bio-identical hormones.
Normal day-2 estradiol, LH, and prolactin. Normal day-20 estradiol, progesterone, 17-OH progesterone LCMS, testosterone, and DHEA-Sulfate.
I don't know what to make of all this. Could I be entering perimenopause despite all my normal hormone results? Could this just be an age-related hormonal change that is not perimenopause? I feel like at 30, I'm too young to be experiencing all of these strange hormonal issues. Or maybe there is some underlying disease causing all of this?
i started to investigate whether there is something wrong or not.at some point i stumbled upon estradiol and estrogen.i had an estradiol level of 85 and an estrone level of 256 with upper limit of 50 and 155 respectively.my testosterone levels were normal.total t 9.5 and free 24 with upper limits of 12 and 50 respectively.!my platelets were lower than normal but never below 100k.also, red blood cell count were most times higher that normal even though i have anemia(MCV<80).
Im also going through hair loss. I counted all the hairs I lost in a day and it was just over 100 hairs in and after the shower! Im getting worried cause my hair is fine to start with. My pubic hair is also very different, nearly blonde, dry and breaks..weird. My TSH is 6.3 (0.5-4.5)

weight gain, inability to affect fat composition with exercise, hair thinning and loss, hair by hair turning white and crinkly, low body temp (~97.4F), hirsutism (since puberty), acne (especially chin/cheeks), lately hot flashes! Sleep quality has been extremely poor for well over a year now. Wake ups once or twice a night, and if I stay awake past midnight I'll be awake for hours (was always a night owl but these patterns particularly started March 2013). Never feel rested.
I went to my doctor again two months ago, and he had my FSH, LH, estradiol, and progesterone levels tested, as he said there was a small chance that I could be experiencing premature ovarian failure. He said the results were normal. I had all the tests done again last month (including thyroid), and again, I was told everything was still normal.
My doctor put me on birth control (Tri-Sprintec) this month in hopes that my symptoms would level out.

im a guy 22 years old i had no facial hair only a light mustache and i was OK with that
one time i start a diet and i went to gym for 3 months while this 3 months i noticed some growth in my facial hair , body hair and my mustache get thicker and my erection had double in the size after that 3 months i had injury in my knee (complete tear in my ACL) so i stop it going to gym then my facial hair stop it growing same to my penis size back to were he was .
For menopausal reasons and especially at your age, I am glad to see your doctor gave you estradiol and only that (no other estrogens in the mix). As far as the patch goes, use trial and error if you have problems with it sticking. Also, sometimes if you are exercising frequently, you may be metabolizing the estradiol rather quickly, so keep a list of symptoms as they occur so that you can share this info with your doctor in case a dosing change has to be made.
( I have made my wife pregnant twice once was less than a year ago and she miscarried) He asked me if I have noticed a decrease in body hair and if I have any children. Is he thinking hypogonadal? With my levels would that point toward secondary and not primary? Sometimes my testes are soft not always, but they are within normal size range from what I have read. They are about a little over 2 inches each across.
I have been helped by cutting out the Progesterone and just using testosterone and Estradiol. You can find more information on this from Dr. Vliet and any of her great books.
Other problems include vaginal atrophy and dryness, all of which can alter the position of the ureter. I, for one, refuse to stand upside down to finish urinating, but I have had to do that from time to time.
