Epinephrine toxic dose

Common Questions and Answers about Epinephrine toxic dose

epipen

Avatar f tn It is much, much weaker than epineprhine and you would get a much, much lower dose of it than dental injection with epinephrine. Even so, I would just play it safe for regular exams and just get tropicamide which should not affect blood pressure or pulse.
Avatar n tn Animal studies have revealed evidence of teratogenicity when epinephrine was given in doses approximately 25 times the usual recommended human dose (on a per kg basis). There are no reports of teratogenicity in humans. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar n tn m wondering with my heart problem how dangerous is it to get a dose of epinephrine and how will that affect my heart? I had an epinephrine dose in the early nineties due to a breathing problem, but that was before I was diagnosed with the mvp and atrial misfire.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Epinephrine is known to act on the uterus through beta 2 receptors and can cause relaxation of the uterus. At term, it can prevent the contraction and delay the labor.
Avatar n tn will do.. never knew there was such a thing as toxicology specialist would that be an endochronologist? Thanks for responding.
Avatar f tn I have to go have a tooth filled tomorrow and I'm somewhat apprehensive about the anesthetic. I know most often the ones they use contain epinephrine because it's a vasoconstricter and causes the anesthesia to work longer. I know you can request the anesthetic without the epi but then it wears off quickly (like when they are drilling on your tooth). I asked my cardiologist and he said if I didn't get a big dose of the epi, if it was mixed, with the beta blockers I should be ok.
Avatar f tn I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this: "Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
Avatar m tn Doctors say it is not because of the spray because so little is absorbed into the system through the nose, but I have read online that Beconase is absorbed more than other nasal sprays, (up to 44% of each dose is swallowed). I have seen numerous people reporting palpitations and other systemic effects across the internet after using Beconase and other brands (Nasonex, Flonase etc) of steroid nasal sprays. Has anyone had a similar experience?
710547 tn?1295446030 And how many have low neurotransmitters (serotonin, epinephrine, norepinephrine, Dopamine) These when low indicate or lead to low immune system. Since ms is more common in the higher latitudes, vit D is harder to get and it is associated with greater incidence. I have very low D and low Serotonin. I'm trying to work on some supplementation I can use to help myself other than the DMDs. Thanks for your input.
Avatar n tn For the first time in 37 years, two weeks ago when I received regular dental anesthetic my heart raced and I started having palpitations. It passed of course in a few minutes and when I went in yesterday for a root canal I asked for the anesthetic without epi. The first shot was fine, but the second injection sill caused my heart to pound hard, my chest felt shallow and made me feel a little panicy. It passed and the 3rd injection did the same.
Avatar n tn I ask what would happen if I doubled or tripled the prescribed dose of interferon, he said that was not approved by FDA but since I would be injecting the med at home, he had no control over how much I used.
Avatar f tn Can anyone here tell me if ms has any effect on either of the hormones epinephrine or norepinephrine?
Avatar f tn but was dose his recommended???? I have the right dose for an adult but how many times??? And yes sweating will get me into a reaction, and its worse since friday, and Im taking 2 kinds of antihistaminics and now have to try Penactyl :S I will try that tonight I hope that will help...
4492128 tn?1359288761 You would have to take much more than a daily dose of 15 mg to develop a toxic reaction. However, you needn't be taking even as much as you day. A daily dose of 15 mg is well beyond the recommended daily dose of (approximately) 1.3 mg at your age. If you are concerned about any symptoms that might indicate nerve damage, for example, contact your physician.
Avatar f tn Yeah I was wondering about the epinephrine. Someone was telling me I wouldnt stay numb if they didnt use epinephrine?? But I will definetely keep this in mind and talk to the dentist about it.
4703993 tn?1379768388 I found this tidbit in a journal abstract that you may want to show your doc: "Patients with syncope while supine also had sympathoadrenal imbalance before loss of consciousness. Sympathoadrenal imbalance precedes tilt-evoked and spontaneous neurocardiogenic syncope and correlates with concurrent skeletal muscle vasodilation. Sympathoadrenal imbalance may contribute to hemodynamic derangements precipitating neurocardiogenic syncope." http://www.ajconline.
Avatar f tn It's the epinephrine in the anesthetic that causes the racing heart, etc. Next time you're at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
16361457 tn?1449652821 Hello. I was finally diagnosed with dysautonomia after having rapid heartbeat, insomnia, panick attacks and head and chest pressure for 8 months. The doctor did not specify which type of dysautonomia it is but I thinks it is POTS. The symptoms started after the tooth infection which was very painful and it passed after few days of antibiotics. A day after antibiotc course, all these symtoms started.
Avatar n tn A related discussion, <a href="/posts/Dental-Health/Lidocaine-Epinephrine/show/1790785">Lidocaine/Epinephrine</a> was started.
1305767 tn?1361192676 t bad this time because they gave me nitrous but I learned they put epinephrine in the local anesthetic shots (it has something to do with helping the anesthetic last longer) So I'm thinking the epinephrine sends my anxiety level from like a six to a ten. Last November I had a tooth pulled and while the dentist was injecting the shot my heart rate got so high I almost passed out. They put a monitor on my finger and it was about 150! That is just crazy.
Avatar f tn Topamax should not cause hormonal imbalance. And the dose you were prescribed for epilepsy may not have been a toxic dose. You may ask for an add-on medicine for sleep problems. t is very important that you get proper sleep. Lack of sleep may sometimes act as trigger for the seizures.
