I'm wondering why you feel the Duragesic is bad for you? I just started the Fentanyl patch, 75 mcg every 48 hours plus oxycodone for breaththrough pain along with a few other meds I specifically witched over to the Duragesic brand a month or two ago, and that one work bet for me in many way.(It doesn't fall off or leave a glue residue on my kin or clothes.
My doctor reduced me to the above dose and its going terribly. The conversion for the fent for that dose is 50 to 75Mcg. My dr said to try changing the patch every 2 instead of every 3. My insurance won’t pay for this non-standard dose. Idk what to do. I’m in constant pain, sweating crazy - i’m in a nightmare.
Hello again....I did get to my pain management Dr. this week and talked about the Duragesic Patch being partially responsible for this severe depression I am in. Of course they don't have a crystal ball but discussed switching me into another medication and spoke of the conversion table they use to determine what dose to use.

I once walked in a room as a nurse, found a patient who had taken off his patch and chewed it...he coded and died...there is alot of medication concentrated in the patch to be released over a 24 hour period...not all at once...if you cut them you would have no way of knowing the amount your wife would be absorbing..
See I had no problem coming off duragesic. I was on 150 patch and I tapered off completely in one month with hardly any w/d symtpoms. My doc did a slow taper od I think 25 mcg every 6 days. Also the clonidine patch made a HUGE difference in helping to wean. No jitters, it was great. Also, he gave me 20 5 mg oxycodones to help if I did feel w/d's. I seriously had no problem whatsoever. Now, I have to take Oxycodone for my disease and I'm trying to wean down and it SUCKS!!!
I was telling her that effectiveness was failing after 48 hrs. She had do the urine test and it showed no narcotics in my system. I was wearing a patch that I had put on the previous morning, replacing the patch I had worn for 72 hrs. Any ideas or has anyone else had a similar experience?
I have chronic pain from Tarlov Disease and Interstial Cystitis. My pain has been well managed for 2 1/2 years using tramadol (ultram) for maintenance and lortab for break through pain. I have developed chronic kidney disease and my doctors are pushing me to get some exercise. I have found that with every exercise form I have tried I quickly get beyond the pain control offered bu tramadol and lortab so i can't exercise.
I have been on the Duragesic Patch 74 mcg for about 3 1/2 years. During the last 6 months, I have become extremely depressed. I notice that it is worse after the second day any given patch is on. I have been treated for the depression with different antidepressants and so far have not found one that works. I am so desperate for help as the depression has taken over my life. Has anyone out there experienced this? Any input would be appreciated. I feel as though I am running out of time.
t know where else to put this, but I was recently switched from Morphine 60mg ER to the Fentanyl Duragesic patch. I thought the weird flu like symptoms might be a result of the new drug, but apparently it has to be withdrawal from the Morphine.
I'm kind of miffed neither the doctor nor pharmacist even mentioned this could happen. I was naive and thought the new medication wouldn't create an issue with the switch, I was wrong.
I find it odd that J&J won't provide you with any information regarding where to purchase their duragesic patches. I am on Opana ER and if you go to their website, http://www.opana.com, they actually have a pharamacy locator on the website.
Is there some other brand of the fentanyl patch that is available at one of your pharmacies? Is your prescription specifically written for the J&J duragesic patch?
I've been taking the Duragesic 75mcg. hr pain patch for 3 years now, one patch every 48 hours instead of 72 because they only provide me with 48 hours of good pain relief, along with Percocet 10/325 for breakthrough pain for some serious spinal issues. herniated disc, disc fragment impressing upon and displacing the S-1 Nerve root, thoracic herniation at the T-8 and T-9 Level, along with neckpain. I also been diagnosed with multi-level DDD. My question is, my Dr.
I just got back from Dr. that is out of town. We lowered the patch again today to 25mcg/h That is down from 100 4 months ago an 50 3 weeks ago. Its being filled now.. The last taper from 75-50 was really easy. I hope my luck does not run out. My question is he(Dr.)is dumbfounded as to what to give me for pain. I told him maybe a LOW dose quick acting MORPHINE that will get in there cut the bone pain and not hang around like this patch does..
I found this, not sure of the accuracy of the whole article, but copied it for you. I've never used the patches, but this seems like very good info. Perhaps someone else can comment on the accuracy.

The recommended procedure is to clean the area with water and then apply the patch. However, for anyone who has used Fentanyl Generics or Duragesic, we know that's ridiculous.
Hi, I was taking 30 mgs of oxycontin per day. I stared the fentanyl patch 5 days ago. After a couple of hours, I felt it had some effect, mostly a mental type of euphoric feeling. But then after, I´m really not sure if it´s working. I´m on the second day of my second patch. Wanted to know if this is normal? Could it take up to 5-6 days to feel a full effect from them.
there had me on a medication called Temgesic. When I came back to usa I went on Duragesic Patch after a year or so.. I think this Temgesic is the detox meds you guys are talking about. I have a old box here and they were 2mg sublingal. Its buprenorfina (sp).. Brand as I say was Temgesic. Its a great medication for pain and I can never remember having the side effect of it that I have with this patch. I can't wait for the day I have none of this medication in my body.
I have found the Duragesic patch to be just about perfect. The first one I was on (can't remember the brand) was quite large and you could visibly see the gel. I had problems with it sticking properly and it would also buckle, no matter how flat I originally had it. The glue was also an irritant. I could never get it off my skin and it left a residue on my clothes that wouldn't come out.
Does anyone have longterm experience on the Duragesic Patch? I'd like to speak with any long time users.
I'm currently on the 25mcg/hr Duragesic patch, and I'm not a fan. It could be that the dosage is too low, but it's far too inconsistent and it's been 3 weeks now. My pain is very apparent and keeping me from sleeping right now actually.
At this point it's almost like a 20-30% reduction in my pain, and when I was on the morphine ER, it was generally 80%.
I had the same reaction with the percocet where I had to take 2-3 at once. I was just prescribed the duragesic patch 25mcg but have not filled the prescription, while researching on internet found the ingredients in this patch being some powerful meds that I have never experienced before and I am in fear of overdose, not being able to concentrate on my job or addiction.
What Im thinking about doing, is somehow ask my PCP to switch me to the same equivalent dose of a duragesic fentanyl patch. That way I would be away from the temptation of the having the pills just laying around for me to take at will. I could simply put on a patch and forget about it for three days.
In your experience, what are my chances for success with getting away from the oxys by switching to the patch?
I just started using a new brand of generic patches. I am using Alvogen 100 mcg patch x 4 (400 mcg total) every 48 hrs. I just switched from Duragesic brand name (I was getting these through Johnson & Johnson PAP now defunct as of 05/2020)to these this week. I noticed my kidneys were hurting right away. Has anyone had something similar happen?
I've been on the Duragesic 100 for almost 18 years. I've had 3 cervical fusions & 1 lumbar laminectomy. The Duragesic 100 has controlled my constant, chronic pain & while I've never been pain free, the Duragesic certainty helped. However in the last 2 months, its as if the patches are no longer working. I've always had additional breakthrough meds, but now its as if I'm going through withdrawals.
