Avatar_n_tn For 2 months I have suffered with dry cracked lips, redness in corners of mouth. Moisture tends to collect in corners of mouth. I feel like if I smile my mouth is stretching. I am constantally wiping the moisture out of the corners of my mouth. My lips have a burning sensation inside and out. Mouthwash sets me on fire, but just the anterior portion of my mouth. I have tried many kinds of chapstick. The redness in the corners of my mouth is spreading. It is very embarassing.

Hs mouth has always been very sensitive so much so that even a pinch of pepper he could taste in his food. Please help... it is very painful also.
Avatar_n_tn hey - i was recently having some trouble with very dry, irritated skin down there.. The first time I went to the doc thinking it was a yeast infection, but she said it was just very dry & she gave me a prescription cream that has really been working great everytime. Also, I shower twice a day (before work & after the gym) and she thought the water was irritating it.
Avatar_n_tn I have had dry, swollen, cracked, peeling skin on my eyelids which has become progressively worse over 7 years. Have been prescribed cortisone but only is an overnight cure. Is this exceme? or psoriasis? or allergies? How can I get over this??? HELP!!!
1763947_tn?1334058919 Since getting Lyme, a symptom that I have noticed is extreme dry lips to the point where they are cut and I am constantly using a lip balm for it and even something to "sugar" the lips to get rid of the dryness but it only comes back. Has anyone had this? I would love to find something that would really work.
230202_tn?1370797179 I had the same problem, dry lips and feet. My heels cracked and bleed. Every night I would rub gobs of Vaseline on my feet and cover them with socks. I used Vaseline on my lips also and it did help. I told the nurse about this problem and she said I was dehydrated and increase the water. I started drinking 100 to 120 ounces of water daily and within a week my heels and cracked lips went away.
Avatar_f_tn licking your lips, which is common when they are dry and irritated, but that tends to irritate the lips even more. When the corners of the lips are cracked, bacteria and yeast that are normally present in the mouth can get into those cracks when there is some dripping of saliva at nighttime and cause more inflammation.
Avatar_n_tn Or a bad case of Chapped lips , a condition whereby the lips become dry and possibly cracked. It may be caused by the evaporation of moisture. Lip balm can often provide temporary relief, though it should not be used extensively. one should avoid licking their lips as saliva contains the enzyme amylase, which can damage the already compromised lip tissue. Honey can be used on the lips as a natural remedy.
Avatar_n_tn Basically as Chris described, they would peel every week around the 4th or 5th day, leaving a red glossy base, then as new skin would begin to grow, it would never attach normally leading to dry, cracked, stained lips. Also, they would soak when touched by water leaving them looking like white puss. I have used every kind of cortisone, ointment, and balm there is including(Ultravate, Elecon, Bactroban, Desonide, to name a few.
Avatar_n_tn Looking at the slides, he said that it does appear to be yeast but not a common strain. Normally the yeast has a couple of arms but the yeast I have has many and is similar to a bunch of grapes. My body does not see it as foreign and is not attacking it. The next step is for my Dr. to make an appointment with a microbiologist that specializes in yeast. My Dr. willl show the slides and hopefully they can identify the strain in order to determine the drug to eliminate it.
Avatar_n_tn What is a 58 year old, professional/married woman, (otherwise healthy) doing up at 4:00 am searching the internet for a solution to a medical problem that she has been to a doctor three time over the past month? Desperate...I woke up with my lips burning. on April 24th, I volunteered at a local art event which was held in a factory. My station was close to furnaces and it was hot and the next day my lips were chapped.

Avatar_m_tn If you ever have had cracked corners on your mouth or dry, chapped, rashy lips, read this immediately. I used Crest’s Cinnamon Whitening Expressions toothpaste. After I would use it, I noticed that the corners of my mouth would be red and inflamed. I would wake up the next morning and it would be fine… well one day I woke up the next morning and it was still red. i eat pretty healthy, exercise, take vitamins and herbal suppliments, and drink a lot of water, and I mean a lot!
Avatar_n_tn Treatment of Fordyce spots includes CO2 laser or electro desiccation, TCA chemical peels(temporary treatment),diathermy or laser vaporization. For your dry lips, avoid licking the lips as saliva evaporates quickly resulting in them being drier than before. Drink plenty of water and take multivitamin supplements(esp vit B) and do not apply lipstick or other cosmetic products for some days. Use a humidifier to moisturize the air in your home and apply shea butter or Vaseline on your lips.
Avatar_n_tn I recently have experienced the same symptoms of the weeping, yellow crust on lips. It started with cracked, chapped lips, and applied Blistex to help heal my lips. only my lips did not heal. They started appearing swollen, with reddness on inner lips, yellow crust on tops of lips, no pain but about as uncomfortable as a badly chapped lip. on the 4th day I went to go see a doctor; he diagnosed me with a condtion called Impetigo which is a bacterial infection that is very contagious.
Avatar_n_tn They can not be noticed as much, but they are there. My lips feel dry and sometimes they hurt me. I don't know how I can do something to remove them or heal the area. Does someone know something about it? This discussion is related to tiny white dots on my lips.
Avatar_n_tn Anyway, I went to the doctor this morning and she said swelling like this (tongue, lips) is called angiodema. She said if I continue to expose myself to this allergen (whatever it may be) the next stage could be anaphylaxis. I'm really scared. I have 2 little kids and I'm terrified of something happening. I can't avoid the allergen if I don't know what it is.:( Please help.
6832940_tn?1389245954 Don't scratch i did and it got so raw the skin cracked like when you get really dry lips now i have an open cut from my clit to the top of my vj :(
Avatar_n_tn Hi I have a very dry lips and very dry skin around my lips. This was caused due to the A/C constantly being on at work. It never went away no matter how much creams, ointment or petrolium gel I put on. However, after work during the evenings, once I put on the above substence on, my skin seemed to soften a little but during the night it harden up and get all cracky. I was never able to peel it off because it was soo deep into the skin...if u get what I am.
408312_tn?1202062473 Originally I was misdiagnosed as having cold sores, which meant about three weeks of having top and bottom lips covered in super dry, blister crusted lips and me not putting any chapstick on my poor lips and taking antivirals. Finally I went to a dermatologist who told me I definitely did not have cold sores. Got diagnosed as having perioral dermatitis because by this point I had a full on rash/pimples around my mouth and chin area as well as my lips.
168732_tn?1311715679 i have the smae problem with the lips too. if i keep vaseline on them it's better. my skin is dry and prone to rashes normally. but's it's worse on tx and even more in the winter. i have to keep lotion on and for the problem areas i use 1% hydrocortosone cream. that helps a lot.
Avatar_m_tn i have the same thing - i'm in week 10 same dose as you. i remember my nurses saying dry skin was a sx of tx, so i have been very dilagent about moisturizing my face and body with a "heavier" lotion then i normally would use - but found i still had dry cracked skin in corners of my mouth. then i remembered somthing i used to use for my kids (recommended by our beach lifeguards) when they got really dry, crakced lips from the ocean.
Avatar_n_tn my doctor said sometimes his patients even use a hair dryer to dry off...after a bath... he also said, its normal for women to be in so much pain from it...feeling like vomiting...unable to sit down, or sometimes even walk properly... one doctor was amazed i was able to even sit down!! ..
Avatar_n_tn I have had a persistent dry right palm for over 3 years now, and it has recently gotten painful and extra dry. I wulod describe it as dry, rough, thickened, cracked skin on my palm. I do not have health insurance so that is why I have not been able to go get it looked at yet. Looking closely it is dry, has cracks, itches. It makes it hard to do any type of physical work because if any dirt or debris gets in the cracks it irritates even more and hurts a bit more too.
Avatar_n_tn The skin just inside the labia was irritated and cracked (almost like really chapped lips) and inside the cracks were bright red. It was so itchy and painful. I used these vaginal capsules (can't remember the name) and it eventually cleared right up. But it is of great importance that you see a doctor. If you buy and use over-the-counter yeast infection medicine and it's not a yeast infection, you could makes things a lot worse.
Avatar_n_tn I also am getting occasional dry skin on the bridge of my nose, and on top of everything my lips are getting dry and itchy too. I am allergic to lipsticks and lipgloss so I haven't worn them in over 6 years. However this time my lips started acting up for no reason. Does anyone else have this problem with their lips? I went to my dermatologist and he said there is nothing I can do about it. Steroid creams are too risky around the eye, and they also create wrinkles.
Avatar_n_tn It can be a little sticky and feel a little strange but it doesn't burn or irritate my eyelids and it's great for burns, rashes and abrasions, aswell as dry, cracked skin. Anyway, it seems to work for me. Well thats pretty much it. it's not a miracle cure, and it does take a few day for results to settle in. I know it won't be the solution to everyones problem, but i hope some of this information will be of use to some of you.
