You will still need to take some meds for the pain, isnt it? I think you should visit your doctor - he could prescribe medicines which have less interaction.
Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
Avatar n tn The effects of cholestyramine and colestipol on the absorption of diclofenac in man.Colestipol produces a similar but smaller effect. Avatar f tn Well, this morning I had a lot of pain, not in agony pain, but enough to make me very tired and desperately need to lie down by the time I was done in the shower. Took me twice as long as usual to get ready for work, and ended up with BF driving me instead of taking public transportation. I got it filled and took it around 8:30, and noticed around 11 that the pain was now just sore/achy and sooo tired, like if you'd been doing A LOT of lifting of heavy things the previous day.
Avatar f tn Yes, I do use this medication, however my RA doc has me make it up into a cream and use it topically instead of swallowing them and risking stomach and intestinal damage. Diclofenac is a rather old, but good good antinflamatory NSAID medication that really can ruin your stomach which is why they don't prescribe it much anymore. I know it may sound strange but it works really well.
653169 tn?1303446369 I took it for inflammation in my foot. I have a calcification in my acheles tendon. I took an Essential Enzyme with it and had no stomach upset. You can get this at a health food store either online or in your neighborhood. I do know this prescription should not be taken for more than a month or so according to my doctor. So my doc just prescribed Voltaren topical. It's the same thing as diclofenac but topical so you are getting less than 1% of it in your body so it's much safer.
Avatar n tn i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.
Avatar f tn What does it mean to have massive pain in the back of your head and neck that also causes dizziness and slight fainting?
Avatar f tn 5 yr old son complained of night leg pains for months - waking in tears. When this seemed to be excessive (lasted for 4 months, increasing frequency), we saw docs who diagnosed as "growing pains". By Aug 2011 he wasn't playing normally during the day because "his leg hurt" and on the bad days, he limped. There was a "hot spot" midway down the inside of his tibia. - he jumped if we poked it.
Avatar n tn ve gone through 4 or 5 different painkillers and by now they dont work that well even after stepping up the dose to 500mg. it reduces the pain for a couple of hours then the pain is back, and i cant take another tablet so soon after either. the only thing that has worked so far is the diclofenac suppositories i was prescribed once when i was in Italy and had really bad cramps. it works like a charm and is more reliable than anything i've taken so far.

Avatar n tn The doctor I visited sent me home with a max dose of diclofenac for 2 week. After no improvement I visited a physiotherapist that forced my arm to bend (joint mobilization) and gave me stretching exercises that I should do each day for 2 weeks. The first few days flexibility improved gradually, but then the bursitis came back. I had an X-ray exam but the doctor said that it only showed my old trauma and nothing new.
Avatar m tn Anyway, when I took it to the pharmacy, all of the medications was controlled substances, percocet, sonata, and diclofenac. I was shcoked but the pharmacist tech already scanned it and I trust the FNP. I always go to this same pharmacy and never had a problem filling my prescriptions and my disabled problem. The pharmacist was even willing to fill the diclofenac at the time. I decline and told her I would pick them up Monday when all 3 were ready and I this didn't fill right.
Avatar m tn it is ok for hbvers, it has no sides effects at any dose or length of taking and dose is about 1.5g per day, it has very potent antioxidant effect too and it is a common vegetable to eat directly in many countries my father uses one from germany, doloteffin, active aragospide 400mg, he takes 3pills per meal 3 times a day.it takes time to work, about 4-6 weeks and after taking it for a year my father stopped with no back pain again. he used diclofenac sodico 1,00 mg.
Avatar f tn For the past five years I have worked on my feet for most of the day and since then have always experienced a lot of pain in my legs and wrist. A friend of mind suggested that I use arthrotec for the pain as it has helped her. I am 32 years old and am on a birth control pill. Any thoughts on the safety of this idea?
Avatar f tn s all my life for different reasons. I also have a long history of allergies in my life (rhinitis, latex, dog and cat hair, contact and atopic dermatitis) and my grandmother was allergic to basically 90% of all drugs. A couple of weeks weeks ago, I was feeling unwell, so I took 600mg of ibuprofen and something for the fever (I don't really remember what it was) twice a day for a week and then went to the doctor because I was not getting better.
1840891 tn?1431547793 Recently there was a thread here talking about acetaminophen versus NSAIDs, but it was all oral stuff. The manufacturer of Voltaren gel states that the recommended dose results in only 6% the systemic absorption compared to an oral dose of the same drug, so it seems true that I won't absorb very much of it, and even less if I'm taking half the recommended dose at half the frequency, but I STILL wish I could hear a few other hepatologists say it is safe.
Avatar m tn Ibuprofen is a NSAID (Non-steroid anti-inflammation drug), so it has some effect on the inflammation too, not just to relief the pain. There are other NSAIDs too but some of them have lots of side effects. Diclofenac is one that in my country is sold over the counter almost as often as Ibuprofen. Of course, for severe inflammations (with inflammations, there are no infection) steroid anti inflammation drugs can be used, such as cortisone.
Avatar n tn I have had mitral valve prolapse w/minor twinges of chest pain for 20 yrs. For 12 years I could not exercise without getting chest pain the next day. Then for the last 10 years I have been able to exercise with no problems. Then I had knee pain & was put on a 14 day dose of Diclofenac Sodium. After 10 days, I got chest pains for 2 days. I went off of medicine. Ever since whenever I exercise, I get chest pains the next day. I had stress test done & heart looks ok.
Avatar f tn Everyone is different, but I have taken diclofenac before and not had any kind of side effect. The warning is there simply because it could happen, but it is probably a very low probability. If you got this from a doctor who knows you, you should be ok to take it. If not and the script is someone else's, then you probably should not take it. In any event - drinking with them is probably not smart either.
Avatar m tn m not asthmatic) He blurted out the possibility of some viral infection of the surrounding lung tissue and gave me Diclofenac ointment. Nothings changed, and repeatedly reaching for deep breaths is annoying. Help!!! This discussion is related to lungs.

Avatar n tn 75mg's a relative low dose as the options for increase depend significantly upon where in the world you live. I'm on 375mg which is max in the UK. Speak with your GP or psych about what you would like to do as i'm sure that they'd support you with what you may want.
