Avatar m tn However as the oral HRT does not suit you, other medicines are available for dealing with hot flushes like clonidine. Consult your Doctor regarding the same. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn Have been getting what they call Hot flashes for over 1 year, mine our Hot Events as it last for days not minutes, I have been using an estogen patch that has been working for 6 months, now it back to happening just like at first every 1 -2 weeks for 1 full day and night, sometimes almost 3 days. I don't know what to do. My gynocologist says i am on the highest dose of the patch. don't know what to do.
Avatar f tn I'm almost 60 years old and have been experiencing severe hot flashes for years. A couple years ago I was put on 0.05mg Vivelle-dot patches. I'm still having the flashes. My forehead, especially, sweats a lot wetting my bangs completely! Would going on a higher dose of Vivelle stop the hot flashes? I want to keep on bioidentical-type remedies and wondered if something else included/instead of would do the trick. I'd greatly appreciate help!
Avatar f tn ok thank you what ic clondine?
Avatar n tn I am also being treated for hypothyroidism. Any suggestions for what is causing these hot flashes/night sweats?
Avatar f tn My methadone doctor suggested clonidine for these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it and I was wondering if it helps much, and is it worth even taking? Thanks for your responses...
Avatar m tn I am 95 days off methadone, and 15 days off Norco. I took clonodine for hot flashes. I had the patch for over a year until I figured out that my unrelenting rash and itching that my doctor called stasis dermatitis due to lyphemdema, was actually an allergic reaction to the catapress patch. I've been on the pills now for about a year or so. Time gets away from me.
Avatar f tn my doctor gave me clonidine to take at night with my regurlar blood pressure medicine in the am and i read up on it and it said don't take with rx pain meds so I haven't but I also noticed that it is used for w/d's so how long do you have to wait after your out of pain meds can you start taking it?
Avatar f tn I am already starting to get withdrawal symptoms which surprises me as this is not really a small dose. I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?

518001 tn?1212419235 I put my feet on an ice pack, it cools down my whole body much better that icing any part of the head or neck.
Avatar f tn I have been taking clonidine for the side effects of the hot flashes, and I must say, it helps quite a bit. It also works like a sleeping pill for quite some time, and that is very short-acting. Clonidine is not the same as Klonipin, and which is a sedative. Clonidine is a high Blood pressure drug but used for a variety of other causes. (I started out with .1 mg and am now taking .2 mg) it;s very cheap also, and I thought just worth mentioning, as I have never heard this mentioned anywhere.
Avatar m tn During the peri-menopausal years (the 10 to 15 years before menopause) and menopause (menopause means one year with no periods), it is common for women to suffer a multitude of hormonal complaints. Hot flashes, night sweats and sleep disturbances are common complaints during this time in a woman's life. Most would think these symptoms are associated with a decline in estrogen, but they are also hallmark symptoms of low thyroid, especially night sweats and insomnia.
Avatar f tn I was having mild menopausal symptoms of hot flashes about twice a week, prior to removal of my right ovary due to a large endometrioma 10cm. Since then I have had severe hot flashes whereby I'm soaking wet more than twenty a day and sleeplessness.because of night sweats. I am taking effexor and estroven over the counter with minimal effect. Its been 5weeks since the surgery.
Avatar f tn I am now on Soy Isoflavones - 40 mg daily and it has minimized to making the hot flashes disappear. Most people take more than that dosage but I seem to do very well on low doses.
Avatar n tn I was an emotional wreck, sweats, hot flashes, stomach etc.... Does clonidine help with the mental at all? Is it addictive? Am I to far along in the process to start it? Meaning the worst is behind me? I have really been looking into Suboxen because I do not want to relapse. The thing that scares is me I would be trading one addiction for another and I dont think my case is severe enough for it.
Avatar f tn I know that several people have told me about how well Clonidine works for withdrawal symptoms. I am an addict, and I need instant gratification. I want to know what it does for the anxiety; that "crawling out of your skin" feeling. Anyone who has used it, please share!
Avatar f tn This should settle down when the body gets adjusted or you can take recourse to medicines like clonidine which help with the hot flashes. Also the option of HRT is available. The decision can be taken in consultation with your Doctor. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
Avatar m tn Oh I am taking norco 10/325, probably 7-10 a day. But now cut it down to vicES 6 a day. So did the clonidine help for sweats n hot flash? I was thinking bout stopping in a day or two. I still have a prescription for norco but just wana stop n c if I can take the pain. This will b my 2nd wd. I just didn't wana it to be bad as the 1st. I'm lil scared. Just wana to be lil easy the the 1st. When did u start the clonidine?
Avatar m tn I was on hormones for years and my doctor, who is from Canada, put me on clonidine and it has been a miracle drug for the hot flashes with almost no side affects. Clonidine has also been used to reduce menopausal flushing, to treat postherpetic neuralgia, to treat ulcerative colitis, and to diagnose pheochromocytoma. Clonidine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
958842 tn?1266512599 I never got hot flashes with Clomid, but I was on the lowest dosage of 50mg. Now this cycle I did the highest dosage of Femara - and boy-oh-boy did I get hot flashes!! It's funny you post this, because I was just thinking about it. I'm 9DPO and I swear I was just getting hot flashes while i was out running errands. And I thought how odd to get hot flashes in the TWW.
Avatar n tn I have been on it for two weeks now and it really works for me. I still have hot flashes but only once or twice a day instead of having them like every 30 minutes. If you look it up on the Internet if specifically says that it is for hot flashes. Talk to your doctor and see if that is something that you can use. It has made my life so much better. Good luck and I hope that this can work for you.
Avatar n tn I am 51 and began taking Effexor XR 75 mg as prescribed by my physician to help reduce the hot flashes. I've taken this same level of Rx for 3 years. It has helped to reduce the hot flashes, however, I have other side effects that concern me. I am now trying to wean myself off the Effexor and the side effects are significant (vertigo, confusion...) and the hot flashes seem worse than ever! Is there anything I can do to reduce or eliminate these without antidepressants?
Avatar f tn I took Effexor XR for 2 years along with my Tamoxifen, It really did decrease my hot flashes and also some of my down moments. Effexor XR you have to make sure you do not miss a dose, it is a very strong antidepressant. I would start crying and couldn't stop, could not figure it out until I realized it was the medicine. So I weaned myself off with the help of my doctor.
198154 tn?1337787265 Clonidine worked great for me. Doc gave me .1mgs about 3 weeks worth. taken twice a day. No side effects for me being that I am 6'3" 225lbs. It takes alittle more for us Big Boys.
Avatar m tn I am a 61-year old woman who had a hysterectomy at age 40 but my ovaries were left intact. Since I no longer had a period after that, it was difficult to determine exactly when menopause started. My doctor put me on HRT at age 48. I took those for 7 years and then decided to stop after all the negative reports about HRTs came out. Once I stopped the HRTs, I started with very severe hot flashes and night sweats.
Avatar f tn It is not a narcotic medication. Also, a hot bath helps for a short amountnof time. I can handle the other symptoms of WD but this is the worst! Good Luck!
Avatar m tn PLEASE ....EVERYONE....BE CAREFUL... Even tho clonidine is probably one of the greatest detox meds available, you shouldnt self medicate with it (if possible). To clarify, clonodine IS a GREAT detox drug, but I cant emphasize enough to you all...try not to take this into your own hands without medical consultation.
