620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Dog Hi, I take Ropinirole (Requip), and this mefication over the years has worked really well. But as you know what might work great for one patient might not work great for another. But maybe worth a try.
Avatar n tn sometimes Ropinirole (Requip) is also used to treat the sexual side efects of ssri

Avatar f tn There are certain concerns for people with parkinson’s disease and restless legs syndrome taking ropinirole. Requip causes sedation, fainting, light headedness, dizziness particularly in patients with heart disease. hallucinations is reported but in people with parkinson’s taking requip, rarely in people taking it for restless leg syndrome like your dad and more commonly in elderly taking requip in combination with levodopa.
Avatar f tn Hi, Not sure about everyone else but I know that for me the restless legs is one of the worst symptoms. I told my doctor that I was struggling and he prescribed me Ropinirole tablets, one to take before bedtime. I took one last night and, fingers crossed, it seemed to work. Most of you are probably aware of this but for those who aren't, it might be worth a try.
20003388 tn?1515166040 Rexulti, like Abilify, is actually a partial dopamine agonist as opposed to a dopamine antagonist. How would a stimulant work in conjunction with a partial dopamine agonist like Rexulti? I am prescribe the Rexulti for depression/anxiety in conjunction with Prozac and Cymbalta. The Vyvanse is being added to treat my severe ADHD, I am the mostly inattentive type. I just want to be able to think and focus clearly.
Avatar n tn schizophrenia is caused by tooo much dopamine production drugs that replace dopamine can help/requip being one of those....also lots of supps out there that replace dopamine/or encourage production of dopamine...exercise is one of the main endorphin producers we can do without taking any supps...
Avatar f tn Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried. I take Requip (ropinirole) for RLS but it is not a total relief of it. RLS is hell as you dread going to bed, you dread movies, you dread airplanes as you know that your legs will instantly start to ache and you will have the compulsion to constantly move them to relieve the discomfort.
Avatar f tn My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful. I can give you a few hints on optimizing the effectiveness of your Sinemet rather than keep raising dose: No protein to eat unless long enough before dose for the food to have already passed thru the small intestine. Small amout of starchy food food can help when taking med, but no large amounts of food before taking the med.
Avatar f tn , or episodes of awakening with sometimes a feeling of suffocation and suddenly needing to sit up and take a deep breath (sometimes this may be caused by heart problems, specifically congestive heart failure), sleep apnea, nightmares, and akathisia (which is most often the result of dopamine-antagonists, medications that counteract dopamine, that work opposite to sinemet or requip).
Avatar f tn Have had rls once or twice a month for ten years. Then bam, it's full blown, unreal, can't do this, rls. I don't need to tell you all how it feels... But discribeing it to a small town doctor feels like I'm talking to a book. Short story, I moved to Idaho from California. Seeking the small town, farm, slow pace and American dream of life. Digging in deep with enjoying the mild winter and active from dawn to dusk.
Avatar n tn Dopamine agonists such as ropinirole, pramipexole, carbidopa/levodopa or pergolide are used and you have to monitor these drugs. There are some issues with the use of dopamine agonists. There are conditions where the drug itself causes symptoms to increase in severity and/or occur earlier in the day. Monitoring the adverse effects of the drug and titrating a proper dosage is important for your daughter. Take care!
Avatar n tn Hello team! I'm preparing for my big quitting day, October 1! I know some of you folks will question why I set a date, but I have learned from past experieinces that you have to plan for this challenge. My questions is, can anyone tell me what it means when something has "moderate in vitro affinity for opioid receptors"?? I want to try Requip for the terrible RLS I get during wihdrawals.
Avatar f tn I too have been on both of these meds and have had similar issues. Have you been on Sinemet yet? Requip and Mirapex are dopamine agonists, but Sinemet is a dopamine replacement and is best reserved for when the agonists no longer work. SinemetCR worked for me for a few years before the side effects outweighed the decreasing benefits. It's more complicated to optimize it's effectiveness, as one is best served to consider the timing, volume and content of their meals.
Avatar m tn Dopamine Receptor Agonist - Dostinex (Caborgoline generic). That is what I take for prolactin producing pituitary tumor. Is that what you are looking for?
Avatar f tn works pretty well for me but sems nothing is a permanent fix. been thru dopamine treatment, clonapin, requip, all either worked for a while but w/ side effects, or didn't work at all.
Avatar m tn ) are not very helpful and many medications actually cause RLS. Ropinirole (Requip, Ropark, Adartrel) -- Rx only -- has been approved in the last couple of years for treatment, and I have personally found it effective. There is a good detailed article in Wikipedia on RLS.
Avatar m tn I am coming to realize that I am suffering from anxiety, and I think it may run in the family. I don't have attacks, rather, I find every one-in-a-million danger out there weighs on my mind far more than is warranted. If I call a friend or family member and it goes to voicemail, I worry that something terrible has happened to them. I know full well that the odds of that are one in a million, and it is almost certain that nothing bad has happened, but the thought keep gnawing at me.

Have you read up on sam-e ??
Avatar f tn I have been on geodon, an antipsychotic, for around ten years. I just went through a temporary taper, I found I was in withdrawal and had massive headache and flu-like symptoms and had to go back up. Subsequently, I did research on this and discovered that if I stopped taking geodon, I most likely would get Dopamine Agonist Withdrawal Syndrome (DAWS) and want to know if I'd be likely to get this were I to stop taking geodon because it wasn't effective in stopping drawn out acute mania.
Avatar f tn From what i read wellbutrin is the one antidepressant that will give me back what the percocets took away. Dopamine. Seems to make sense to me.
