Diovan and heart rate

Common Questions and Answers about Diovan and heart rate

diovan

Avatar f tn Hi, I am concerned about my heart rate. I've always had a high heart rate. over 100. The doctor never said it was a problem but now I'm wondering as I went to a chiropractor and they took it twice. It was 105 then 107. I am 51 yr old post menopausal female. I am on diovan 80 mg. ,paxil 20 mg and valium 5 mg as needed. I also have always been anxious and hyper. Definitely don't exercise enough. Is this cause for concern? I do not have insurance until Oct. when Medicare kicks in.
Avatar m tn My docror reduced my Diovan to 40 mg and gave me Metoprolol Succinate 25 mg because he said my resting heart rate was in the upper 80's. I started having strange feelings while sleeping, like my heart or stomach was shivering and I used to wake up at night after a few hours of sleep because of this feeling. I was still feeling dizzy and I wanted to stop the Diovan or the Metoprolol Succinate. My cardiologist said I should continue the Metoprolol succ and I can stop the Diovan.
Avatar n tn m experiencing is with my heart rate. since the ablation proceedure my heart rate elevated to 100-110 bpm. my EP prescribed cardizem cd and it is keeping it under control now. the side effects are what's causing me problems. my toes and lower legs are feeling numb. I tried metoprol and diovan hct and although by bp is in the normal range my heart rate is elevated unless I continue on the cardizem cd.
484583 tn?1230605092 I am only taking diovan for high blood pressure and lipitor. Nothing that would cause a low heart rate. I think 30 beats per minute for a brief run is ok for a healthy heart and I do jog a few miles per day. But having my heart stop for 2.5 seconds when I was asleep is not normal.
Avatar f tn P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc. Is there any other calcium blocker that doesn't cause swelling?
Avatar f tn I take 40 mg. of Lisinopril twice per day; Diovan 320mg - twice per day and Clonidine HCL 0.2 mg at bedtime. My Nephrologist wants me to take the Clonidine in the mornings also, but I cannot function - I am too dizzy and weak. I have had a stent placed in the artery leading to my left kidney and my pressure has gotten higher.
378273 tn?1262097621 Control heart rate and anticoagulate, and if there are no symptoms and the heart rate is controlled, then leave the patient in afib Cardioversion for patients who still have symptoms and the heart rate can't be controlled, or for whom normal sinus rhythm is preferred . I hope this helps explain your Dr's thinking...
Avatar n tn i have a history of mitral valve stenosis - rheumatic fever in childhood -- no changes in EKG, echo, carotid doplers MRI, etc - should i be concerned regarding nocturnal tachycardia -- am on toprol twice a day, diovan, and simvastatin, premarin, metroprolol, saw cardiologist in Dec -- diovan was added because bp was slightly elevated -- just started the night tachycardia -- wakes me up and then I fall right back to sleep before I can even check my pulse rate -- should I contact him?
Avatar m tn Started on 80mg, tried 160mg, back to 80mg and currently on Diovan 160mg/12.5mg HCT as of a week ago. My BP was spiking to 150/100 so my doctor decided to try adding the water tab. Here in lies the issue. Over the course of the last year I started noticing that I was getting very tired, and especially dizzy throughout much of the day. Headaches have increased, stiff muscles, and a general feeling of sluggish.
Avatar m tn I weigh 205 lbs and I have begun exercise regularly and when I do so my heart rate gets as high as 165. How big a concern is this fast pulse? Will continued exrcise help me to lower my heart rate? What else can I do?
Avatar f tn Just for the sake of curiousity, what was your heart rate at that moment? I exercise daily and my last stress test was miserable. The doctor asked me if I get that short winded when I exercise, and I don't. It didn't make sense. I can exercise (walk briskly for 3 miles) and never be bothered by sob, but take a stress test and do so badly. Sometimes I have a bout with angina, but as I walk through this that seems to calm down.
Avatar n tn Mine runs about the same, the highest it has been is 110, and averages about 86 BPM, I used to be on Metoprolol, it was prescribed by a Cardiologist, and controls High BP by slowing the heart rate, that could be an option, if you have Palps, maybe your bouncing back and forth between Hypo and Hyper, I am Hypo and taking Diovan for BP, but my HR still spikes now and then, and with stress it tends to spike also.
Avatar m tn I can't answer questions like that. Whether you take a certain medication is up to you and your doctor. If you feel like your symptoms are worse, you should absolutely talk to your doctor about it. Beta blockers can make asthma worse. If you are newly short of breath, it might be related to that. If you have a structurally normal heart, normal stress test, and otherwise normal EKG, you don't have to take anything.
343006 tn?1314446471 I had to get off ACE, ARB, and alpha blockers. I am now on beta blocker Bystolic. Tired and slower heart rate. Some allergic reaction but not as bad as Diovan, Norvasc, Altace, Exforge, Cardura. I don't know much about CCB;s in general. I empathise with you and wish you the best. Try lifestyle changes - diet, exercise, nutrition. My goal is to get off toxic meds. Good luck.http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn 3 months ago I was at 230lbs, and I would always get these pains in my chest and my heart would beat fast. Current weight 207lbs. Cardiologist said I have too many extra beats and put me on Atenolol on Tuesday. But he doesn't know about my history of HBP from my family doctor. My BP had always been high since last year. Untill now my Family doctor put me on Diovan 80mg plus Cardiologist put me on Atenolol 50mg. Can High Blood pressure cause PVC's?
Avatar f tn All of a sudden my BP skyrocketed to 168/118. And also a high heart rate between 107-112. My Dr and I thought it was due to my asthma attack I had and being on all the steroids to treat the asthma. One month later went back for a recheck and still extremely high. Was 168/120 in office. HR was 111. Dr put me on Diovan. It seems to be helping but I still feel my HR is high. Any suggestions? Is it normal for HR to go high with high BP?
Avatar m tn should she drink more water to dilute it. Should she take one of my xanax .5 to prevent an accelarated heart rate?
Avatar n tn ve been hypertensive for 10+ years but have been treating it with meds and diet since diagnosis in my mid-20s. I take diovan and HCTZ (40mgs and 12.5mgs respectively). My resting pulse rate is usually 60-70. I probably get about 2 or 3 PVCs per hour and have had an echo test, stress test, halter monitor, etc, and have been cleared as healthy and fine by my doc. I am learning to live with this, but what alarms me is that the PVCs increase with exercise.
369861 tn?1306275686 I advise the dr what took place with the ER and my primary. The endo doctor then took me off the Diovan HCT and started me on Diovan so that i could take a renin and aldesterone tests. Does the potassium have anything to do with the thyroid and why did the endo take me off all diuretics to take the two tests. With not being on the diuretics, my body was retaining fluid rapidly that I started to look like the pillsbury dough girl.
Avatar n tn I am 68 and female I have had 1 surgery to clean the artery and am going to have the ither side shortly I am on Plavix aspirin Lipitor and 25 mg of Lopressor I cant get my heart rate below 70 all this discovered in less than a year HELP
Avatar f tn had his blood work and ecg done and showed no sign of heart attack over the weekend. the cardiologist and physician talked and they put my dad back to metoprolol 25mg with the diovan 160/12.5mg. so now he's on lipitor 80mg once daily, metoprolol 25mg (2x daily), diovan, and aspirin 81mg. any comment on this prescription mix? thanks so much for your advice.
Avatar f tn For most people, this increase is usually small and will not cause an issue. Patients who already have an elevated blood pressure and heart rate are at a higher risk of raising their blood pressure. However, the Diovan will work to decrease your blood pressure. It is best to minimize, or even eliminate any intake of caffeine and decongestants since both will raise your blood pressure.
Avatar f tn I was taking Metoprolol for high blood pressure (It is meant to reduce the heart rate) and one day I had to go to the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack, now I am on Diovan, but still have it now and then but not as serious.
Avatar n tn When medication(s) is properly administered there should be a reduction of heart rate and blood pressure, and it appears you are overdosed and it is surprising you still have high blood pressure and heart rate!!?. Another response, QUOTE: "A rapid heart rate with LOW blood pressure could be a sign of heart failure, but in your case, I would guess (I'm no doctor) that your heart is fine." Probably not revelant but what is the etiology of the comment?
Avatar m tn Do we need to feel PVC'S in order to have them? 2 weeks ago they just stopped. I had just started on Blood Pressure meds and Omega 3 pills. Yesterday I felt tired all day and I couldn't get any sleep. I felt my heart beat in my head and I got scared. I also couldn't stop thinking, almost like nightmares. My blood pressure was fine 128/86 not too high and heart rate was 48bpm, but I couldn't stop thinking. Could this be the Atenolol acting up?
