Avatar f tn Our DD was born with a moderate/large VSD and ASD, only she was in heart failure by 10 days old, was placed on Lasix, Digoxin and Spironolactone and NG tube by 6 weeks. She was in very significant heart failure. She is now 3.5 years old, and surgery free. Both defects improved enough that surgery ended up not being warranted. She is still small, at 3 years, 7 months she is still only 28.5 lbs, but she is perfectly healthy!

Avatar m tn Ethacrynic acid has the listed side effects of possibly causing GI irritation, diarrhea, anorexia, abdominal pain, and dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) but does say how frequent these side effects are but side effects are usually mild and not very common (usually less than 10%). Lasix (Furosemide) has the listed side effects of possibly causing anorexia, constipation, cramping, diarrhea, nausea, oral and gastric irritation, and vomiting and again does not list the frequency.

Avatar f tn There’s a third class of drugs which help by improving the contractility of the heart and that is digoxin. You should consult another cardiologist and maybe another echo will help in settling the matters. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
7569019 tn?1460135460 This is rather complex my dear. You're suffering from some significant drug side effects AND drug interaction effects and that's why your recent drug adjustments were made in an attempt to correct, something which should have been prevented Potassium along with sodium regulate & control, more or less, the delicate balance of intra and extra-cellular fluids.
Avatar m tn How do you tell if Afib converted on its own or if the medication did the conversion or if the medication was causing the Afib? I have been to the Primary doctor and Emergency room both said I was not in afib currently. Another words, when do you know when to stop taking the medications? In Nov 2013, I have Aortic heart valve replacement and a maze procedure. My old cardiologist wanted to do a cardioversion but I didn't want it, so I had to change Cardiologist.
Avatar n tn Is amiodarone as safe a drug as digoxin or linoxin for A-fib as far as long term side affects are concerned?
Avatar f tn I'm 76 and have had 2 cardio versions. My cardio just took me off digoxin and started me on propafenone which is really making me sick. Do you ever adjust to it? I'm taking 225 mg twice a day.
Avatar f tn 20 mcg Digoxin, all twice daily) has high blood pressure. Her latest readings (taken while awake, and calm, with an infant MANUAL bp cuff) were 114/80 (left arm) & 110/68 (right arm). What could be causing her high blood pressure?
Avatar n tn I have noticed that older women are often the ones that have the most medications side effects with atrial fibrillation and are more frequently the patients that end up with a pacemaker. I hope this helps and wish you well.
Avatar f tn I was on it for a week and ended up in ER due to some nasty side effects like chest pain and severe weakness and shortness of breath. However, I can take a different CCB (Diltiazem) without much trouble. Some people are on beta blockers for years and do well. I hate to say it but it kind of a drug roulette. All the doctor can do is have you try something and see if it helps you. If not, there are other choices out there.
Avatar n tn I have undergone an unsuccessful cardioversion and for the past 2 years I have been prescribed atenolol, flecainide and now digoxin to help control my af. None of these drugs seem to have an effect on my af. Can you please advise me if there ios a cure for af? Jonser This discussion is related to Ventrical.
Avatar f tn Our daughter has a moderate VSD, small ASD, is in moderate congestive heart failure. She was admitted to the hospital on Monday with failure to thrive. While there they checked her blood pressure which was 109/72, and the nurse said she thought that was a bit high. We didn't see the cardiologist. Is that reading high for her age (9.5 weeks)? Or would that be considered normal for a baby with her condition?
Avatar f tn It takes very careful experimentation to find just the right dosage. There are so many adverse side effects, and with so many new modern alternatives available, my physician would have to a lot of explaining to do in order for me to take it today.
Avatar n tn Since it was after hours at the vet , we got an appointment for the next day. The vet said he had fluid in his lungs and put him on Lasix and that he was in heart failure. When we took him to the vet a year ago , all that I was told was that his heartbeat was too fast , and was put on Enalapril. When we took him back to the vet (a different vet then from the first time) 4 days ago , was the first time we heard of our dog having heart failure. This is the weekend and neither vets are in.
1401215 tn?1376423242 I have looked at the possible side effects of my other meds and unfortunately the majority of them have nausea and vomiting as side effects, so I don't know lol! Thanks again for everyones help and I hope everyone has a great new year!!
Avatar f tn It was so bad I went off Abilify for a few months because of it. No other med helped so I went back on but with Lasix. The Lasix allows me to tolerate the Abilify and the Abilify is the only drug that has returned me to "normal". You may want to ask your doc about it?? Good luck.
Avatar f tn beta blockers can cause growth restriction so they will do ultrasounds every 4 weeks. i was on propanolol for headaches and then it stopped working so i was taken off of it. i don't know the effects of the meds in the begining of preg as far as birth defects. many docs don't either. there just isn't much research with meds and pregnancy. you will register with a med site so they track if you or the baby have any complications. i am on a ton of meds and see so many docs.
