4703993 tn?1379768388 I went to the electrophysiologist a few days ago and he told me that I have tried every conventional method to control the symptoms of POTS and the IST - so basically he was saying that I have not responded to any medication or my medication sensitivity did not allow me to take certain meds without horrible adverse effects...
Avatar f tn It takes very careful experimentation to find just the right dosage. There are so many adverse side effects, and with so many new modern alternatives available, my physician would have to a lot of explaining to do in order for me to take it today.

Avatar n tn s explanation where he states digoxin is used to treat irregular heartbeats. I was on digoxin for a few months following my congested heart failue event. It is my understanding the medication is used to increase contractility of the pumping chambers. My medication for stablizing heart rate is a beta blocker (coreg) and an ACE inhibitor. My research: "Digoxin is contraindicated in patients with ventricular fibrillation.

I dont know if it a mental problem getting worse and causing physical problems, or a physical problem causing mental ones, Or if it has to do with my heart. Im really scared becuase I can barely control my actions and even my personality is changing. I had a CT scan, but wont know results till Tuesday. Does anyone have some suggestions?
Avatar f tn However, in general calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers are preferred to digoxin. Digoxin has been around for a long time! I used Digoxin over 50 years ago for my PSVT, and my recollection was that it did little to prevent episodes. There are so many newer drugs now that are far more effective. My basic understanding of Digoxin is that it works on the heart's electrical system and decreases the heart rate, but increases each stroke volume.
Avatar n tn Is amiodarone as safe a drug as digoxin or linoxin for A-fib as far as long term side affects are concerned?
Avatar f tn I'm 76 and have had 2 cardio versions. My cardio just took me off digoxin and started me on propafenone which is really making me sick. Do you ever adjust to it? I'm taking 225 mg twice a day.
4356842 tn?1353312209 s kind of a heavy duty drug and can have some pretty adverse effects and the therapeutic window is pretty small on it. I would say that an ablation would be the first thing I would want if I was you as it could potentially solve the problem completely. I had one almost 2 years ago for SVT and it wasn't bad at all. I had anesthesia for it, so it was like I blinked and it was over with. I didn't really have any pain afterwards and was back to a normal routine fairly quickly.
Avatar n tn I have undergone an unsuccessful cardioversion and for the past 2 years I have been prescribed atenolol, flecainide and now digoxin to help control my af. Avatar f tn I am taking Digoxin for tachycardia--my cardiologist says that while there aren't good studies available for cardiac meds while pregnant Digoxin is believed to be safe. It is not a betablocker, however the dr felt the digoxin would be safer than a betablocker while preggo. Also the changes in your blood volume while pregnant may correct the tachycardia.
Avatar f tn I experienced AFib lately and when to hospital. Doctor put me on Digoxin, just wondering if anyone is on this drug and if it is working. This discussion is related to Synthroid and frequent heart flutters.
Avatar m tn She had no chest pain, only palpitations and general weakness. She took 1 mg digoxin PO and eventually the episode resolved. Had two more similar episodes in the past year: tachy with normal BP brought on by exertion. EKG was normal the next day. She's a dear family member who doesn't live in the states and her doctor didn't believe her when she described the episode.
Avatar n tn 2 week old premature infant has recurrent SVT/ Atrial Flutter and has been loaded on Digoxin and Amiodarone. The plan is to continue amiodarone for another 6 months; is this safe for him?
Avatar f tn Even if the defect is open but small, there is no evidence that (other than a very slightly increased risk of infection of the heart) there is any adverse impact on the lives of these kids. So, we have plenty of adult patients with small VSDs who have never had them intervened upon.
2021358 tn?1328748117 Beacuse I also have heart problems, the neurologist and cardiologist got together and prescribed DIGOXIN. Altho I have not see anything on the INET about the use of digoxin in auto neuropathy, I don't know why not. It made a tremendous difference in my pulse, bp, and even in decreasing stomache nausea and constipation (stomache is also controlled by vagal nerve). I felt almost normal. Digoxin is the only drug I know of on the market which strengthens the vagal nerve.
Avatar f tn My daughter-in-law who is 23 weeks pregnant was told that the baby's heartbeat is 220. They are monitoring her with a high-risk specialist and a pediatric cardiologist. Over the last 3 weeks, the heartbeat has remained high, but stable. How dangerous is this? What are the odds of it damaging the baby's heart and/or the baby not making it? They have talked about Digoxin if the heartbeat goes up to 260. What would that mean for the mother's health?
Avatar n tn I did not know that digoxin also effects pulse. I am taking it 5 days a week. Looks like I need to talk to my cardiologist if this can be stopped. Could this be due to extreme weather conditions? We are experiencing very hot summer ahead of time in this part of world and temperatures go as high as 42 deg C?
