Avatar n tn M1s2go~ thank you for coming to our forum seeking information. This forum is designed for type 1 diabetes information and not type 2. Those who have type 1 diabetes don't have the option to control their disease with diet alone . . . they must have multiple daily injections of insulin. So, while I am familiar with some aspects of type 2 diabetes, I'm not competent to offer you the information you're looking for.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a type 2 diabetic as well. When I do have soda it is always diet. I never noticed any increased levels in my blood glucose levels tho. Try one for a day or two, monitor your levels and see if they affect anything. Something that I do is look at the lables when I am not sure if something is ok for me. When you do this compare the lables from a diet soda to a regular soda and see what they look like, this will pretty much give you a answer as well.

Avatar f tn I had type 2 diabetes before I got pregnant. I'm 8 weeks and I inject insulin twice a day. They said if I don't control my levels my baby will be too overweight . any suggestions besides eating right and exercising? Is anyone else experiencing this?
Avatar f tn I have type 2 diabetes and I had it even before pregnancy.Till my 3rd trimester I was on medicine-metformin and diet. From third trimester it is just going up.So along with metformin I am on two types of insulin every day.But as of now my baby is doing fine.I am 34 W 6 days.
Avatar n tn Low carb diet is absolutely the best way to manage diabetes. American Diabetes Association is now also recognizing this. By low carb we mean about 20 - 30 g of carbs per day. Protein should be adequate (can be up to 1.5g/ kg body weight), and healthy unprocessed fats (avoid vegetable oils) for energy balance. HEalthy fats include the fats that come with meats and full fat dairy, nuts, avocado etc.
Avatar m tn i was diagnosed Diabetes type 2 in december 2010..I want to know that if someone is diabetic, how much he will live ???
Avatar n tn Hi Dalki, Yes, in time your doctor will likely know for sure which type of diabetes you have. In addition to Type 1 and Type 2, there seems to be a type 1.5 ... tho' there's some thought that 1.5s are just in the early stages of Type 1. We DMers (folks with diabetes mellitis) and our docs often call that a honeymoon phase. I hope you're feeling better now that your bloodsugar has begun to come down. Things may remain volatile for a while, so try to be patient with yourself.
Avatar n tn s gonna be like that untill someone extraordinary finds a way to completely fix type 2. Type 1 will never be fixed, but one day we may understand why it happens and will be preventable. For now it's either drastically lowering the consumption of carbs, or the drugs. There's no inbetween.
Avatar n tn Although there's no cure for type 2 diabetes, studies show it's possible for some people to reverse it. Through diet changes and weight loss, you may be able to reach and hold normal blood sugar levels without medication. This doesn't mean you're completely cured. Type 2 diabetes is an ongoing disease.
Avatar n tn Dear winkster, Actually a diabetic diet is really only what a healthy diet would be for people without diabetes. And fruits are a part of that even though they have sugar it get metabolized like any other carbohydrates.
Avatar f tn Thank you so very much for the help on the cook books. My poor son has been learning a lot about the whole insulin and diet aspect of type I diabetes. His blood glucose level on the first day was over 540! They were dropping his blood sugar so fast that it gave him a head ache. I told him to take a swallow of juice, it helped him out a lot. He had a good day today, BS around 130 throughout the day. He is learning a lot.
Avatar m tn Metformin is commonly mentioned in regards to type 2 diabetes. Regular metformin is taken 2 to 3 times a day with meals however there is an extended release version of metformin which is taken once a day. This is one of the various types of diabetic drugs available. I'll send you a link on the various drugs available. Type 2 diabetes can be reversed however. There are numerous books on this subject.
Avatar f tn Many of us with hepatitis C, even those of us who are cured, are dealing with type 2 diabetes. Losing weight and eating low carb is very helpful. My doctor put me on metformin which dropped my fasting blood sugar closer to normal range. But the thing that helped the most was cutting way down on carbs and losing 10 pounds. My A1C went from 6.0 to 5.6.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is different from type 1 diabetes, which isn't reversible. Type 2 can generally be reversed by changing your diet and getting plenty of exercise. The reason is that type 2 is caused by the body not being able to absorb or use the insulin it creates.
Avatar n tn The glycemic index of the foods that we eat affect all of us, with or without either type of diabetes so I checked around on the internet and found that the website for The American Diabetes Association (they focus on type 2 diabetes for the most part), has quite a few informational articles that you should find helpful if you do a search on "glycemic index". Their website is www.diabetes.org. Best of luck in your continued efforts to control your diabetes! Keep up the good work!
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes for several years. The diet is the same diet recommended for Type 1 diabetes. Your doctor or The ADA can give you a copy of the recommended diet. The difference in the diet for Type 2 is that you do not have to eat on such a strict schedule. Please be careful to check your blood sugars often. You should not have more than 3 servings of carbs per meal as recommended by the ADA.
