906843 tn?1245208894 I am curious what the disabiltiy rating is of the person who retired from the military. Depending of the rating, and if the agreements are there perhaps that doctor works at the VA part time say one day a week. I have found this to work to my advantage, it was there that my Chairi malformation was diagnosed -- if surgery is ever needed it can be done at the VA - my disability rating is high enough that my cost will be very minimal at best...

Avatar f tn I know everything about it when it comes to me and my body. I recently started dating a guy who is retired military. When asked, I told him about this. He said that his primary care physician told him that he would lose his medical insurance if he had sex with someone who had a pre existing condition. With HSV as common as it is, can this be true?
Avatar f tn They are also eligible for lifetime health insurance through the military’s system, Tricare, at a small fraction of the cost of private insurance, prompting many working veterans to shun employer health plans in favor of military insurance. Follow the link for the entire story.
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding:) I think if I lived anywhere else, chances are I WOULD be seeing a civilian Neuro. The problem is that Here in Hawaii (island of Oahu) we have the big military hospital with basically every specialist, and any referral you get from your primary doctor here automatically gets sent to Tripler (the military hospital). The only referral I have had that wasn't at Tripler was a dermatology appt.
738075 tn?1330575844 My dear old neuro (age 80) has suddenly retired from practice, as his cancer came back and really whacked him. I see him Monday to get my meds squared away for the rest of the year. Dammit! I really liked and trusted this guy! A good neuro who listens is hard to find! I have an appointment to see a new neuro on the 18th. He was recommended to me by a friend we usually have dinner with on Friday nights, who just happens to be a neuropsych. I'm nervous and excited all at the same time.
516780 tn?1296516575 I was afraid that things would get bad when my husband retired from the military but I have seen no changes in our coverage.
Avatar m tn I just know that I have welfare insurance...I am on social security, and have 3 kids....even if I could find a dentist that would touch that tooth....and haven't had luck yet...it wouldn't be one that would take my insurance.......so I am left with an infection that is riddling my face and taking my insanity and no one that will take the cash that I DON"T have to begin with...or my welfare insurance.....
Avatar f tn s safe to have dental work done and instead of asking for military wives advice, google for offices close to you and read reviews and the dentist qualifications.
203342 tn?1328737207 I don't know about you guys but I'm getting increasingly alarmed and concerned over the violence many of our military members are showing. Some of them are war veterans, but not all. I do understand that they can suffer from PTSD, depression and anxiety after returning home from war. It seems we are seeing an increase in suicides and violence towards others. The most concerning to me is the violence towards their family members.
655727 tn?1283296048 My husband is working as a civil servant after spending 22 years in the military. If it wasn't for his pay now combined with his retired military pay and the good health insurance we get from the military we'd be really hurting. As it is, he puts in long hours and probably does the work of about 3 people, so no, I don't think he gets overpaid. If anything, I think he probably could get more on the outside.
Avatar m tn I am filing a VA claim for disability now 17 years after I left the military for one reason because I was diagnosed with Hep C in 2002. In 2012 I found out my best friend and shipmate in the Navy has Hep C my question is does any other Navy Submariners have Hep C? Let me know. VA and the gov't have done studies and show that a large percentage of Vietnam era Vets have Hep C -- testing was not done then.
520863 tn?1212025156 s all in you and your husband joy-nope, no medicaid when in military.....insurance is free for servicemembers and their families....you do have to pay for dental but it's like $17 for the family, and you still have to do copays, but i hear it's good stuff!!! however, here are some benefits to joining the military-(DON'T DO IT FOR MONEY, B/C THERE WILLBE TIMES WHEN YOU'RE THE BROKEST PEOPLE YOU KNOW!!!)..... free insurance.....
Avatar n tn I have religiously seen DDS for dental care. Two past DDS have retired and I have been here/there for this/that. I beleive I had shoddy work in the past 2 years. This DDS's fillings have fallen out. He had to replace them twice. Crowns left spaces between teeth allowing food stuck in there. Saw new DDS and he did full mouth x-rays and told to have my upper teeth pulled and have implants.
Avatar n tn I am leaving for the military and I have to get a physical done I am so scared to be tested for HIV I had unprotected sex with this guy twice, a few weeks after the second encounter, my lymphnoids started to swell in my neck. they were only swollen for a day and I found out I was pregnant a week later. I had an abortion and they took my blood after they performed the procedure. Did they test for HIV when they took my blood?
230262 tn?1316645934 s address for the application, they then take into account her income, assests, etc etc which even though she doesnt have a lot of money, they see that she owns her own home- its paid off - no morgage to pay- owns her own car which is paid off too etc they say she should be able to afford to buy insurance for us?! its so ridiculous. SHe is a retired widow living on pension and social security!
Avatar f tn The dentist who did the work cannot see me for a week unless there is a cancellation. Not all of us have dental insurance and this procedure was very expensive. Is the dentist not accountable for what he does? He told me the expense was worth it because I would have no more problems with this molar. So what recourse do I have? I know when I do finally get to see him, it is going to be an expensive visit.
1530342 tn?1405016490 Andrew Barry and his family. Barry was wounded in action in Iraq and Afghanistan, retired from the military in 2009 and now volunteers at an Orlando veterans center, the announcer said. He received resounding applause. Avatar f tn I am a navy wife! we are stationed in San Diego right now.
Avatar n tn hi, i don't have any dental insurance so I need to pick and choose which tests and procedures at the dentist are really needed. I ask you this because I hope to find unbiased opinion. Last time I skipped the peridontal xray, but got the cavity xray and cleaning...he found 2 tiny cavities that ran me $400 out of my pocket but later a hygenist said maybe that wasn't necessary as the decay could have been reversed... So what do I "really" need..
Avatar f tn How do you mommies cope with your partners being in the military... my bf told me he wants to sign up for the military and my heart just sank... he says it will be a 9-5 job unless he goes out to sea which will be 9 months at a time... how do you cope without seeing him for so long.

148588 tn?1465778809 Some young Americans who fought in the first Iraq campaign served full 20-year military careers and retired without ever seeing a conclusion to the Iraq campaign. Most of those joining the military today were not even born when that first war began. "Perhaps the biggest error was overstating the importance of the Persian Gulf," said Bacevich. "I don't think it was a critical strategic interest.
