I have a book that was written by a Buddhist nun, Pema Chodron, "When Things Fall Apart". I've read it many times and have found some peace of mind in her gentle way of getting people to look at things in a new way. I think I'd better read it again as my attitude has been lousy lately. Thanks Anitha, he has already recieved chemo with gemcitabine& cisplatin 5cycles followed by IMRT -25CYCLES OF local radiation with gmcitabine, his ca 19.9 was 2400 to start with came down to 400 but after another 4 cycles of gemcet& cisplatin went up to 3200, hence feel IMRT& NEXT CHEMO WAS INEFFECTIVE, NOW has been advised chemo with cisplatin & oral capacitabine for 4 cycles.

The Dalai Lama is cool beans! I took world religions and have always loved the Eastern religions. I love all of the religions, and combine the best of all into a stew. Anything that can bring peace and understanding to humanity cannot be bad.

From this perspective, we must seek our goal and mission in something that transcends birth and death, something that we can give our whole life to. Only then can we tap the inexhaustible potential of life. In other words, we must advance beyond the mere struggle to stay alive and be prepared to ask ourselves for what purpose we live our lives.. While it is important to win, it's even more important to remain undefeated no matter what happens..

The goal of Buddhism is to live in the present. The achievement of that goal is a whole lot harder. The Dalai Lama has made his share of mistakes and has expressed his own regrets. We're all human, but I share with the above post from my own experience that studying Buddhism has a lot to teach us, and is where a lot of cognitive therapy comes from. Now if I could have only reached Enlightenment, sigh.

You know it! Ultimately, it's the acceptance of DEATH. Well, I am no Dalai Lama but that's what I keep trying to do - work towards accepting death. Once death is accepted as an unavoidable, natural event in life, one can live freely and beautifully. Perhaps that's what these palps are all about, a teaching devise. At this point, I need another 10 life times for me to casually accept dying. None-the-less, I will continue TRYING to adapt and accept what comes my way.
