contractions during nst test

Going for.my second NST 11/13 first results were fine just mild contractions. Seems like every dr visit ill be doing this due to me not gaining weight. Any advice its nerve wrecking dnt kno what to do on that day I will be 36wks.

Stress test or non-stress test? During a NST they just hook you up to a monitor to keep track of baby's movements and heart rate. During a stress test they actually stimulate contractions and monitor baby's response to those contractions.

Can anyone tell me what happens during a Non Stress Test and how long it takes?

The nst is really to make sure baby is doing well. Long as your having movements during the test you wont fail. They will also measure your contractions. If they feel you have at risk they may induce early but its pretty doubtful that early less baby/mother is at a big risk.

I can feel them though...I had a nst because I fell on Wed and she said I had several during the test, none of which I felt. These ones I can feel, oh well as long as he's healthy when he's born and I'm healthy I guess when he comes he comes. GL with your delivery!

Yea, it's a nst, non stress test. They are used to measure baby's heartbeat and reaction (they want to see a base line and then baby's heartrate spike up and come back down). You lay on a bed with 2 sensors on you. Very relaxing to listen to babies heartbeat actually. They are common for anyone with any type of complication, like high blood pressure, diabetes, being obese, having more than 1 baby, and the list goes on.

t in distress. If you are having contractions it will pick those up too. I had a NST at 22 or 23 weeks and it picked up baby's movements. It just depends. I think I started my weekly NST at about 27 or 28 weeks and haven't had any problems. with the testing.

They had me lay back in this recliner had two straps on my belly one to monitor the babies heart beat the other and to see if I was having contractions. During the 20 minutes any time the little one moved I had to push a little buzzer for it to track her.. ive heard its normal for one nst.

Another question after the testing is done what is it determined to prove??!? I'm confused, they monitored me at the er lastnight, now I'm being sent to get a nst tomorrow also have to monitor my urine, but the nst test monitors contractions etc etc, but what is the meaning of the results afterwards?!

Hey girls, I know I posted a while back about Non Stress Test that my sister-in-law had asked if I'd be getting. And she freaked me out by saying me or DH had to play with my nipples. Well, I thought I knew what a NST was, because I thought I had it when I had my fender bender. Found out what she meant was a Contraction Stress Test.

However, sometimes they will say its an NST, when what they are REALLY looking for are contractions. This might be the case with you. They will monitor the baby too, just to be sure there isn't anything overtly worrisome going on. Good luck! At least it isn't painful!

From my understanding, generally NST is used that early when you or baby may be a higher risk. I have been getting them since 32 weeks twice a week, and will continue until I deliver. I have a genetic connective tissue disorder that gives me a slightly higher risk of premature labor and rupture of membranes. All an NST consists of is you being hooked up to a contraction monitor for at least fifteen minutes. It stands for non stress test.

so when doing the nst contractions were coming so close together that I was admitted that same day...still here and now 35wks and dialated to 2cm already...im nervous its way to early for him to come out and who know how long ill be here....anyone have a healthy bby at 35wks?

So starting this week I'm having nst twice a week. I was just curious if anyone knows what happens if I getbad results,,,? im 37w1d and have pregnancy induced hypertension. which is why I'm getting the nst.

NST is non stress test right? I wouldn't mind you missing 2x tuesday if your in labor how exciting so he could be here anyday now huh?

Nothing yet, also with my weekly OB appts they are having me do an NST (non-stress test) and last week while doing mine, I had a couple of contractions and didn't really notice them, so that's another reason I wonder if it could be early labor and not know...I never experienced the natural onset of labor, my waters were broke artificially or I was induced which brought labor on pretty quickly...

Just wondering when do they usually do the non stress test I dnt remember how far along I was when I got it with my 1st

One monitor is for the heartbeat and the other is to check for contractions. I was told the test can take 20 minutes to up to an hour and half. It all depends on the baby. I have to say it's pretty relaxing so far. I get to hear the baby's heartbeat in stereo lol. I'll have to this twice a week until the baby is born.

Is anyone else having to do NST Monitoring?? Should i be worried? Do they do an ultrasound as well as the monitoring?
