My son has been taking Concerta xl 36mg for over a year now during school term for ADHD with no symptom until recently. He now grunt or groan and has involuntary spasm. Doctors dont seem to help much they just advise me that over time it should go. I make sure he is on an healthy diet at all time but with not much help. Any suggestions please!
diagnosed a few days ago with ADD(no hyperactivity) amongst other things and am taking concerta...36 mg 1 to 2 times a day...seems to be a life saver so far but am uninsured, just getting back on my feet after a nasty divorce and losing everything but my children (Thank God). It is SOOO expensive. I have 3 children (out of 5) also diagnosed which prompted me to get checked..Anyone take Strattera with good results...
Concerta, 30mg Adderall IR, and 30mg Adderall XR. Concerta gave me migraines. Adderall XR completely sucked. Adderall IR was the best medication that I found until Vyvanse. Now I think Adderall is horrible in comparison.
I've been taking 30mg of Vyvanse for a few months now. This has been my adjusted dose from trying 20mg, 30mg, and 50mg. 50mg was wayy too much at the time. 30mg was perfect until about a month ago. It lasted about 12 hours, a huge improvement over 4 hours of Adderall IR.
Concerta does not cause the enlarged heart, but definitely increases the heart rate and causes other chest pains, so cardiovascular monitoring is a MUST with all the ADHD-drug taking children.
My son has a 5-6 mm hole in his heart and we get Eco every year, just because he is taking Concerta. So far, we were lucky and did not have to suspend taking it.
If they say it - keep him off of it. I am sorry to say that.
I have two sons with ADHD. The 'upper meds' 'boots' is talking about are the ones the are in the amphetamine class...extremely addictive, if abused. Ritilan, Adderal, Focalin, Daytrana are a few more in that class. He/she also added that they are an recovering addict, so I assume that they have abused, or are afraid that they will abuse these meds. Boots: I know of one that isn't an 'upper'. It's called 'Concerta'.
Im a 16 yearold male that plays a ton of sports and works out a lot but I'm never hungry! Its really weird all my buddies eat a ton of food after our games and in general there always hungry! I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 160 pounds. I am starting to feel weak because I don't eat. Is it normal for me to feel like this? I'm currently on 105mg of concerta. Could the concerta be doing it to me?
I am a 30 year old who started taking ritalin and concerta (36mg - 72mg) on a regular basis for about 6 months about a year and a half ago. As a consequence I experienced erectile dysfunction. I stopped taking the meds and I still have erectile dysfunction. I have been off the meds for over a year now and I have not recovered my erectile function. I can only get a semi if I try really hard. I don't get morning boners any more and I don't get proper hard ons when watching porn either.
I had an allergic reaction to both, Adderall and Vyvanse, and my body refuses to metabolize these type of drugs properly. What do I do now? Just take Wellbutrin XL 150 for life? I'm a total disaster at work w/out the stimulants.
Anyone knows of alternatives? I do take Omega-3s, vitamins, acetyl l-carnitine etc.
Adderall is much more effective than Concerta IMO. But as much easier to abuse, party on, stay up on... it's not as harsh as any of the extended release meds using Ritalin. I was on Dexedrine for 2 years, and I was absolutely abusing that. I'd say that's the one to really watch out for... I got 180 10 mg Spansules a month, and found a way to run out usually with 5 to 10 days left.
Hi I have been on Concerta 56mg - 72mg on and off for several years. However, recently I came across a study that showed that long term use of the med impairs brain cells so I stopped abruptly. It has been years since I have been completely off the drug and I noticed that I have lost alot of my personality. I used to be so bubbly talkative and hammy. I no longer possess any of those qualities anymore, among other issues and I feel that they may be due to the long term use of the drug.
Why is my 'shrink' trying to treat my Adult ADD with Bubropion HCL SR (100mg tab 2X a day)? Is this the right med for me? Good grief...it didn't even cut out my smoking. Both of my adult children are on Adderall and are doing fine. My doc keeps telling me that Concerta & Adderall are 'too addictive' ... what the heck ... I am not looking to get high or anything ... I just want to be able to have a med to make my ADD manageable.
My children have been on Focalin XR for years now and have had wonderful results. Before this my son was on concerta and strattera together and it zoned him out, but the focalin allows him to focus and still be the same kid he always was. You can definately tell when the medicine has worn off, but when he is medicated he is his normal polite agreeable self and, just more focused. He is able to concentrate in class with no problems.
my son has be on concerta for about 8 months. Yes he focus better but his grades are know different for 2 terms now.
He also has been diagnosis, actually the first diagnosis was a learning disability. He also get awards showing compassion and caring etc. on and off meds. His teachers have loved him in their class from jk. He plays travel sports and gets award again on and off meds.
O and yes he is very mean on and off meds with his sisters but calms down better on the meds.
dillons 13 turnedbeen on various meds since age 7yrs, Now he is on concerta xl been taking this drug for 3 and a half yrs now he started at low dose then end of last year his phycytrist put him on the highest dose his age can get 72mg daily,now my son dillons sleep pattering has went right out of control dosent sleep for 3-4 days at one time,they know this and have also put his sleeping drug melatoning up to 9 times 3mg per night this dosent even work for him.

I began to gradually abuse the medication about 1 1/2 years ago, sometimes taking as much as 180 mg (but the most I've taken in a 3 hour sitting rarely or never exceeds 90 mg), and even experimenting with insufflation twice. I've tried several times to stop taking this medication, but never saw more than a week pass before I decided that I'm much better-off on the meds.
He currently takes concerta and is doing pretty well in school. However, something happened today that frightens me. He was on recess with hid classmates. This includes his 6 year old brother. My 7yr old and one of his friends trapped my younger son behind the building. The friend was holding my younger sons arms back while my eldest child punched his own brother.

I started taking these a few months ago and immediately started to abuse them. I just took two right off the bat thinking no harm done, and I got a very intense high. I loved it. More than anything I had ever done. Cocaine SUCKED in comparison. I could focus ALL DAY on various things. Life was interesting. There was so much to say, so much to think about. I literally loved being alive. But in reality I was in a drug induced stupor.
I can see being on V and perhaps adderall in the late after noon. Or concerta and ritalin in the late afternoon. Since the Concerta/ritalin are the same type of meds. Same thing for Vyvannse and Adderall.
Point being, why was the V not working for you? What symptoms did you have. I would think that the two could have been over dosing you. Did you ever try just V alone?
