982251 tn?1248781387 My daughter has been on concerta for 3 yrs now and she has facial tics. We took her off now and its been about 4 days, they seem to have gone away except once in away in awhile I see one but mostly 3\4 or more are gone. So I would like to know if they were becuse of the concerta and not touretts.
1031310 tn?1259857386 probably both are safe for adults (and reactions are rare). But for CHILDREN, concerta is probably the safer of the two UNLESS these sudden auditory hallucinations really are a result of the concerta and not a result of something weird that happened at a new "church"... but, it just seems sooo unlikely after two years of no side-effects. And it's not that I don't think that a drug like concerta could have a reaction like this in a extremely rare case...
Avatar n tn I started taking concerta 8 months ago and it has made ia great change in the fear I USED to have speaking in front of people . I till stutter but not near as often when speaking in front of adults .
Avatar f tn College students take them for a boost when cramming for exams or pulling all-nighters. Others abuse stimulant meds for their weight-loss properties. If your child is taking stimulants, make sure he or she isn’t sharing the pills or selling them. 1. Adderall 2. Concerta 3. Ritalin 4. Vyvanse 5. Strattera (do not use this, there is a warning on the label for suicidal thoughts) 6. focalin 7. Dexedrine Their may be other but these are the most popular ones used.
Avatar f tn If he has been on the same level of concerta for the last 4 years and has had no weight gain in the last 4 years, then an increase would possibly not be necessary - unless it no longer was working for him. The maximum recommended dose for adults is 72 mgs per day (did you know this?). I guess my question is - is your feeling about your doctors recommendation based on your sons need or yours?
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed Concerta 27.5 mgCR which is like adderall for ADHD. My doctor also prescribed Phenteramine 37.5 mg for weight loss. I take both together in the morning. I do go to him every month and have a check up so he can check my blood pressure...it is always low anyways. But he does keep a close eye on me. Also, if I have something stressfull happen in my life, I drop the phenterimine for a couple of days to prevent an anxidy attack.
Avatar f tn s harder than anyone else in her class. Our daughter has been on concerta 36mg now for 3months, it has made a difference, she is talking better, obviously the medication is helping her thinking, DOWN is she can't get to sleep at night, did try a lower dose of Concerta first but didn't help much, the 36mg dose is what she needs, we give her melatonin to help her sleep at night, (natural medication for sleep), the melatonin helps but still hard for her to get off to sleep.
Avatar f tn Concerta is a time release. It normally lasts for 8 to 10 hours, but with this overdose it will last much longer. The worst should be the initial hit, but you will feel the effects as more of it gets released over time. But, it should not be as bad. Your note doesn't quite make sense as you said you took it today, but then you said, " I haven't even eaten in the past three days.
Avatar f tn I am looking for a top notch cataract surgeon. So far I have relied on patient reviews, google and yelp reviews but none seem to match. If by chance someone knows of a surgeon, please reply to this request. Thank you so much - I have postponed surgery because of extreme fear - but if I had a good surgeon I would proceed.
Avatar f tn Concerta is almost identical to Ritalin.
Avatar m tn I have been going to the same psychiatrist for over 5 years and have been recently given Concerta three months ago. During this time, the Concerta dose moved up 3 times and was given a new script. Some of these scripts were turned in during the same month. The doctor added on ritalin on a separate script one month. I have turned in these prescriptions mostly to the same pharmacy, but when at Walmart I have turned them in there.
Avatar n tn Thanks for responding, that makes total sense and I'll try and look around for some books by some "memory experts" like you said and see what I can find that might help. I appreciate it.
Avatar n tn My son is 15 years old and for as long as I can remeber he has always been very unhappy & extremely angry. He's been in & out of therapy (counseling) since he was 4 years old. We had NEVER concidered medication until about 8 months ago. My son was tired of not being liked, feeling angry, sad and felt he needed help beyond just counseling.
1756969 tn?1332437163 wondering if anyone has tried concerta for their adhd? i was on a few meds a few years ago but stopped taking them because nothing seemed to work. i am about to try going back on concerta 36mg and see if it will help. i also have depression and am starting a new med called celexa. any info will help. thanks!! not sure what i should be looking for in healthy changes.
Avatar n tn One other thought is that 36mgs of concerta is a load to take the first time. I have seen posts by other adults (mainly grad students) that take a very small dose as needed for tests, etc. I am not advocating the use of meds at all, but it sounds like you got some bad initial advice (along with the bad vibes). Hope this helps. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn I've been taking 36 mg of concerta for a couple months. I don't take it everyday. I take it on the days I will need it. I hadn't taken it in two weeks since last time when I was coming off the meds I got very sad and cried for five hours about my future. I took it today and felt okay. Until I started coming down. I got the chills and began sweating which isn't totally unusual. But then i became so unmotivated I couldn't leave my room.
Avatar n tn I watched a Lifetime segment about a new device, called the Quotient ADHD System, which can objectively test for ADHD by measuring motion and attention parameters in children and adults. Has anyone heard of this device? Here is a link to the video http://bit.
Avatar f tn Methylphenidate may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Concerta should never be shared with another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it. What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Concerta?
Avatar f tn I notice u r on Concerta as well? Is that for ADHD or for fatigue from fibro? It is a stimulant and addictive..mostly causes a dopamine dump but also contributes to seratonin levels as well. I was diagnosed with fibro as well...do not accept the diagnosis as i feel it is a bit vague. they put me on vyvanse bu it caused me more muscle tightness due to it is also a stimlant. Like Concerta..it is not considered quite as abused as Ritilin, addrerall etc.
Avatar n tn But he takes it because he says it makes him feel better and he can get going for a while until side effects kick in like terrible fatigue . He describes it as 100% at one point of the day down to 0% at it's low point. My son is sweet and soft and fun but on this his personality changes. Please let me know if any of you have experienced the same effect.
Avatar f tn Then last year the ex took him in for the headaches and started pushing the ADHD and the doctor gave him a generic concerta and sumatriptin for the headaches. the concerta helped him tremendously with his work but the headaches havent gotten better.
Avatar f tn I did find this one article which might help you. It reviews various types of meds used for ADHD - https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:kH4CuWvgmbQJ:www.ncgiadd.org/pdf/Medications.
Avatar f tn Why is my 'shrink' trying to treat my Adult ADD with Bubropion HCL SR (100mg tab 2X a day)? Is this the right med for me? Good grief...it didn't even cut out my smoking. Both of my adult children are on Adderall and are doing fine. My doc keeps telling me that Concerta & Adderall are 'too addictive' ... what the heck ... I am not looking to get high or anything ... I just want to be able to have a med to make my ADD manageable.
