Avatar n tn According to the Combivent website, the only difference between Combivent MDI and COMBIVENT RESPIMAT is the delivery system.
1398693 tn?1343684738 my chest gets heavy off and on throughout the day I take Combivent Respimat 20-100 MCG/ACT IN AERS, Levalbuterol HCL 1.25 MG/3ML IN NEBU 2X a day before Advair, Singular 10 MG PO TABS, Advair Diskus 500-50 MCG/Dose in AEPB 2X a day, Qvar 80 MCG/ACT IN AERS 2 puffs 2X a day for my severe asthma and I do get relief from the Combivent only to have the chest heaviness come back hours later.
Avatar n tn recently diagnosed with COPD/emphysema. hospitalized three times: finally determined that i'm allergic to sulfate based albuterol, combivent, all of the usual "suspects." i'm now on advair (one week= 115 ) and doing okay - except the only rescue inhaler i can tolerate is primotene mist. just took an oximeter test - came out 86-87. i think it's too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too.
Avatar f tn Dear All, My son is three years old, sometimes he has a constant cough and I use for him 1ml combivent and 1ml pulmicort in the nublizer, these days combivent is out of stock, can i use pulmicort alone and what is the recommended dosage. Please advise.
Avatar n tn I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
Avatar n tn It is unusual for a person to be taking oral prednisone for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), especially in a dose as high as 20 mg daily. That dose puts you at risk for a lot of steroid side effects, such as muscle weakness, bone thinning, cataracts, fragile skin, hypertension etc. You should ask your doctor why you need 20 mg of prednisone. You may also want to consult with a lung specialist about this and other inhaled medicines available to people with COPD.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if an inhaler ( I use combivent) can aggravte PACS and PVCS? I had breakfast this morning and then used my inhalers and my heart started doing some weird pvcs and pacs anyone else ever have this happen?
1580703 tn?1651904887 at what dosage dose and length of time does prednisone cause brain damage and memory problems, thinking problems? thanks!
Avatar n tn Yes, it feels like I don't need the combivent regimen since I started the flovent. I use the combivent mainly before exercise with 02. . Unfortunately my insurance is minimal and I only get to see my pullmanary doctor who proscribes these meds, once every six months. Next I see him I will have a list of questions; partial derived from the excellent discussions on this board. Thanks to all for these discussions.
212161 tn?1599427282 I use advair twice a day and combivent when my asthma kicks in and i don't notice much racing when i use em
Avatar n tn I use this new combivent inhaler 4 x a day so how long does one inhaler last and how often does it get refilled.
Avatar n tn My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I understand that Advair causes heart palpitations. Since I'm already having trouble with my heartbeat, I'm afraid to try the Advair.
Avatar n tn do you find nebulizers help?
Avatar f tn He told her to check into a unit and get off the meds except the anti rejection meds. Before she saw him (last week by the way) she had made up her mind to get off all of it anyway. She had already stopped the pain med she had been on for quite a while before she saw him and that shows she is serious about it. The likely reason for the shingles is an ortho gave her 3 steroid shots in a 2-3 month time period for very severe pain as her "hamstring" was torn loose in her pelvic area.
Avatar f tn I have PAD as well as pain in legs from fibromyalgia. Would a TENS unit be safe and probably helpful for my leg pain (especially calves)?
Avatar n tn ve recently had an asthma attack due to spring pollen and other related environmental condition that increase during this season. I take a Combivent inhaler as a rescue treatment for my asthma. The problem at this point is that is a provides short relief and has choked me to the point of passing out. Could you please tell me what is causing this reaction. What would be a better method and inhaler. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn Advair and Spiriva is a common combination of meds for COPD patients. However, you should also have a rescue inhlaer containing some form of albuterol. Combivent is another option used by many COPD patients. It contains albuterol and ipatropium. Combivent may be off the market in the US though as the EPA has banned the use of CFC's propelants in inhalers. I don't think they were able to reformulate this medication to fit these new laws.
Avatar n tn s sometimes a productive cough. I was told I have asthma and I get sinus infections. I use an inhaler (Combivent) but that doesn't stop the coughing. It will get so bad that I will start to gag. One interesting thing is that when I lay down, I have no inclination to cough. Could it be my tonsils? Should I see an ENT?
Avatar n tn You might try asking your doctor to prescribe Combivent/Duoneb. This is an already prepared mixture of Albuterol and Ipratropium. It is available as an inhaler, as well as a nebulizer solution. Although you can ask your doctor to be sure, Pulmicort should probably be taken separately.
1398693 tn?1343684738 COMBIVENT RESPIMAT 20-100 MCG/ACT IN AERS, LEVALBUTEROL HCL 1.25 MG/3ML IN NEBU 2X a day before advair, SINGULAIR 10 MG PO TABS, ADVAIR DISKUS 500-50 MCG/DOSE IN AEPB 2X a day, QVAR 80 MCG/ACT IN AERS 2 puffs 2X a day When I see me doctor primary or allergist they all ways tell me that my lungs are clear but I still can’t breathe I’m even having a problem breathing when he’s listening to my lungs. Could my lungs be chronically inflamed?
Avatar n tn Before you change your dose, you should do it gradually... my doctor had me start by removing only 1 unit of my morning dose of Lantus, and then that night I took 1 unit of Lantus. That meant that I was only 1 unit shy of my total for the day. Then I waited 2 days to see what the pattern would be (you could even wait longer to see what happens). Then I did the same procedure again, removing another unit from my morning dose of Lantus and adding it to my evening dose.
Avatar m tn but thinking about it a bit backwards....Effective dose is measured in Sieverts, which is a completely different (but related) unit that takes into account both the dose of radiation recieved and the sensitivity of the tissue irradiated based on the stochastic effects of radiation on the tissue in question. If you have a 20 mGy exposure, then that is the maximum dose any tissue in the path of the radiation can recieve.
Avatar f tn He knows his correction dose of novorapid is, for example, 1 unit of insulin will drop his blood sugar by 35 points. Thus, he will use 2 units of novorapid for correction. He is also planning to eat breakfast shortly and will eat 30 g of carbs. He knows that he needs, for example, 1 unit of insulin to cover 10g of carbs. Thus, he will add 3 units of novorapid for his breakfast, giving him a total dose of 5 units of novorapid.
Avatar f tn If your level is 4 ng/ml, that is deficient and the 50,000 unit is a quick way to stabilize your levels. However you can take the 2,000 unit over the counter capsules daily.
Avatar n tn Not sure if that is correct, but I had 1 puff (not the full dose of 3 puffs) of Combivent about 4 1/2 or 5 hours before the test. Would that make the numbers completely unreliable? Seems like it wouldn't have that much affect, but I'm hoping someone knows. Do I need to retake? Your advice would be very much appreciated.
