What puzzles me is why a blood clot in arteries can be treated with aspirin/clopidogrel combine and the one in heart muscles will require warfarin? And why a blood clot should form on heart muscles which are dead for last six years? I agree with you that even high dose of aspirin can cause bleeding. But over time I have got used to 150 mg of aspirin daily and psychologically my comfort level is higher. Thankyou so much for sharing your thoughts.

I had an MI in July which was treated with angioplasty and 5 drug-eluding stents. I was prescribed 75mg Plavix and 81mg. Nothing about getting my blood levels checked was ever mentioned. I understand this is necessary if a person is on Coumidin but do not know if it is needed when on Plavix. Does anyone here know?

I did start my statins but not the Aspirin and Clopidogrel. The ANgiogram done on thursday morning revealed the top stent in my LAD was blocked and so we assume I was fed by the bypass LIMA vessel. This closed up fully on Wednesday morning, giving me heart attack. My Left Circumflex and right artery are clear, and VERY luckily, after 20 minutes of the attack, collaterals sprung into action, feeding from the Left circumflex to the LAD. Hi I am 54 yo female, ex ICU nurse so know something about the heart but this is new territory for me. I am one week post close trying not to lift too much in weight or strain but have had central chest pain for several days now. Not acute, just aching and heavy. Some brief runs of AF and slight left sided heart sensation like pinching but the central pain is the most disconcerting. Could this be the clopidogrel? Am also more tired than before the procedure!
