hi, I've been on citalopram for 5 weeks now for my anxiety. I upped the dosage from 20mg to 40mg a week ago but have just been feeling mind numb since. is it possible for the meds to take longer to start working?
Hi just wondering if anybody is/has been prescribed citalopram for anxiety and how they got on with it?
I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 9. I have been on Prozac, Paxil, Lexapro and now Citalopram for 16 years. At this point the citalopram doesn't seem to be working anymore. I have increased my dosage to 80mg a day and have added xanax about .5 mg 2 to 3 times a day about 1 month ago. I am very depressed and I'm worried about forgetting things. I'm worried about getting alheizmers disease. I need to go to see a neurologist and have some tests done.

I have been on Levothyroxine for the past 5 years or so, and recently my new doctor increased my dosage from 88mcg to 100mcg, due to my blood work results.
I also take Citalopram 30mg for anxiety, and Xanax as needed (rarely).
I have been taking the new dosage (100mcg) for about 3- 4 weeks now. I am experiencing a huge flux in anxiety (it was always pretty stable before since I have been on the Citalopram; I haven't had to take Xaxax in over 6 months).
I've been prescribed to citalopram and am still reducing my dosage of clonazepam(due to seizures). Is it safe to take the two together or should I wait until I'm completely off the clonazepam? I have no allergies that I'm aware of. My doctor was super busy and I forgot to ask if I should stop the clonazepam. Any help is appreciated.
How long have you been on citalopram(aka Celexa) which takes up to 8 weeks to get a full result and what is your dosage?
I would do therapy and skip the Celexa if possible because your issue is straightforward (although that doesn't mean you will be able to get rid of your obsessive paranoia, at least it is something a therapist can get right into immediately instead of trying to figure what causes your anxiety) , however this is between you and your doctor.
i have had 5 years of citalopram for depression and anxiety and i had cbt for cancer phobis which worked im on 40mg and am wondering if im becoming immune to its effects as i have a lot of panic attacks does anyone know anything about this im scared to change meds as worry about side effects dont want to go to higher dose sometimes its like a living hell please help !!!!!
I have been on 40 mg of Citalopram once a day for 2 years now. It has really helped me cope with my major depression and live my everyday life. Lately though, with starting my new semester at school I have become increasingly irritable, withdrawn, moody, and have broken down crying about simple things. These are all symptoms of my previous depression and are really concerning me. Is it possible that the Citalopram has worn off? Do I just need a higher dose?
About 6 months ago I was very constipated so I went to the ER and they did xrays on me and told me I was just constipated from anxiety. I saw my regular doctor and got put on citalopram 10mg. It did nothing for me so I went back recently to up the dosage and also to see why I was getting constipated again. My doctor told me to take 20mg and to add fiber into my diet. I think I went a little overboard will the fiber which made me very gassy and hurt my stomach.

Hi, all - I've been absent from the boards for a while, but now I've been dealing w/ my 'new' meds for a few months. I'm on Citalopram (10 mg) and Valium (2 mg daily, 3 if I need the extra at night), in addition to BP meds (atenolol and lisinopril, and a baby aspirin.). I've been seeing a psychiatrist now for about 7 months, and because I'm pretty sensitive to the meds, she has been very good about taking things slow.
I hate taking medicines which only seems to make my anxiety worse. I am already on 10 mg of citalopram a day for my depression and take it every night. So when I had an attack earlier today took half of the lorazepam (.25) instead of the full dose being the weirdo that I am. That was four and a half hours ago. Knowing my doctor knows I am on both of these medications I forced myself to take my citalopram now before bed.
t know much about the Anti-depressant you are taking but I did a little research for you and found that Celexa is the generic name of a drug called Citalopram. It is worth your while to read the drug fact sheet for this medication.
Excited to begin CBT. The increase in Citalopram dosage appears to be working. I have more of an appetite (sort of). Depression is still there tho, I can feel it.
i just want to know would i stop taking citalopram and start taking wellburtrin, or would i cut the dosage of citalopram down and take the new wellbutrin with it. i really need to change as the weight gain can not go on, i have even considered stopping my medication which would mean having my anxiety and panic disorder back in full force....
During those three months I have been on three different antidepressants (Poraxetine, Zoloft, and Citalopram). Presently, I am on citalopram 10 mil. I started out on the 20 mil but my body could not take it, my anxiety increased ten fold. I was put on the 10 mil for 7 to 10 days and then tried the 20 mil. But again the anxiety increased, and I had muscle twitching and involuntary muscle jerking while seated and in bed at night.
