citalopram and social anxiety

When I told him my feelings he prescribed me 75 mg daily of effexor, and from what he described it sounded pretty good. I have lots of generalized anxiety and social anxiety and he said hes had a lot of good experience treating it with this. Now the problem is when I get home and read about how horrible this drug is to withdraw from. Reading about this has gotten me really worried as I dont want to go through what i already went though with citalopram, let alone something worse.

I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!

My five year old son is diagnosed with adhd and generalized anxiety disorder. we have tried several meds. currently he is on 50 mg of vyvanse, 40 mg of citalopram and 2mg of abilify a day. his behavior is beyond horrible. should i just take him off meds?

ve been on 40mg for the past eight years, and have had anxiety around school, social things, etc, but not phobias. I also haven't had many panic attacks. But recently, it seems like the medicine has all but stopped working. I am suddenly terrified to eat, and need someone present if I'm going to. Even then, my throat feels like it's closing up. In the past week, I've had a panic attack every day. It also seems to be getting worse.

I have just started taking Citalopram for Depression and Anxiety in the last few weeks. I've forgotten again to ask my doctor whether I can drink taking the medication. My dose is 30mg per day at the minute if this has anything to do with it. I don't want to go on a binge drinking session I just want to know if I can have a few drinks pints when out. Can anybody with experience of taking Citalopram help me out with whether there are any effects?

Common side effect when starting are nausea and dizziness. High blood pressure, sweating, tremors, shaking are definitely a bad reactions and might also occur with a SNRI. You can try but i think this bad reaction can be avoided with Lyrica or Neurotin but who knows, you could have a bad reaction too but they mechanisms of action are totally different from the SNRIs and SSRIs. Please consider that I'm not a doctor nor a pharmacist and those issues must be discussed with you doctor.

I've been suffering from social anxiety for the last two months now. Every time I try to go out in public I get very dizzy and I get hot flashes. I've also been experiencing other symptoms at home such as palpitations, hot/cold flashes, fear of dying out of nowhere, constant worry of being okay, and many others. I had been on citalopram which work great 4my anxiety and deppresion.im nw pregnant.1st i got told to stop cold turkey with the citalopram which i did but i start getting extreme anxiety after afew weeks.and dr put me on prozac which is ment to be less risky during pregnancy.ive been on it 4 2weeks now.ive seen no improvement and im scared it will harm baby.i have constant physical anxiety all day my heart races and my chest has this horrible feeling of dread.help! What can i do to ease this?

The lexapro has worked wonders for my panic and anxiety, also the palps and PVcs are almost non existent nowadays, feel like a new person. A QTc interval increase of 3.9 without a history of lqts and a normal qtc is oprobably of no clinical significance oand pose very little risk of serious arrhythmias unless you take other prolonging qt drugs with the lexapro or ssri which is advised against as far as i know, your doctor would know best.

About 6 months ago I was very constipated so I went to the ER and they did xrays on me and told me I was just constipated from anxiety. I saw my regular doctor and got put on citalopram 10mg. It did nothing for me so I went back recently to up the dosage and also to see why I was getting constipated again. My doctor told me to take 20mg and to add fiber into my diet. I think I went a little overboard will the fiber which made me very gassy and hurt my stomach.

Hi, I have had anxiety and depression for the longest time ever since I was 12 and now I'm 22. A few questions, I'm on Citalopram 20mg and I take it one daily. I can't seem to shake this nervousness off when I'm around people, it's like the same thing as an anxiety or panic attack. Feeling of suffercation, face gets numb-mainly my lips-hands and feet, My worst panic attacks are in vehicles.

i take 800 mg of lithuim, 60mg of citalopram for my dipolar II disorder and 125mg of levothyroxine for my underactive thyrod i seem to have problems with my sex drive i never want it could it be the meds

I think you should consult with the doctor that prescribed you the Citalopram. I found the first couple of weeks that I was on Citalopram rough....really rough, but everything seemed to smooth out after that my anxiety became more manageable....and then eventually dissipated to the point that I could deal with my problems and concentrate on getting well.

We decided the dr and I to try a baby dose of citalopram this time and see if it would help. Because I am at a different place now than I was back then. So I have taken 8 doses of the xanax so far which has been half a pill every time. My question is my vision was blurry to me before I started on the meds. I went to the eye Dr because I felt like I was going blind and still feel that way.

Hello, I am a 54 year old male with severe anxiety and am taking 40 mg of citalopram and lotrel for bp issues. I recently read that citalopram can cause long qt syndrome and since my anxiety issues are driven by my health, I am concerned. My resting heart rate is in the low 50's, I have no family history of long qt, but with my low heart rate I wonder if I should cease to use citalopram. My doctor does not feel this is a problem but I thought I should seek other opinions Thanks .

hi i am new in this group find out from a doctor i have anxiety and depression they called it situantional anxiety and depression.he precribed me Zoloft on Sept 14th was nervious before taking it did have some side effects but went away like itching then longer i took the itching got worse and felt like flu like systems had a low grade fever 99.0. found out from my primary doctor had sinus infection took meds for the infection finished medicine felt better.

And with chest pain also comes costocondritis (my doctor said) and i have had ekgs, holter monitor, chest xray, and blood work several times and everything came back fine. I was wondering if anxiety can cause my chest pain off and on during the week. also i am on citalopram and xanax (when i need it), are those medications okay to take or are they harmful in the long run.

t been on anything for two weeks, I feel the anxiety creeping back and have headaches and nausea. He gave me a Prescription for Wellbutrin, will this help with the weight loss? Will I be able to the weight or does it permanently change your metabolism?Now that I am over weight it is not helping with my self image. I do feel I need some medication to help with my anxiety is this a good choice? Are the side effects minimal?

I gor diagnosed with depression and anxiety and age 16, three years later here I am and pregnant! I stopped my medication as soon as I found out (20 mg citalopram) but my anxiety and depression are so bad, I really feel like I need my medication. Has anyone taken citalopram or another antidepressent while pregnant? pros and cons?

Im 16 and have had General anxiety for a while then I grew into social anxiety which is mild everywhere but highschool :/ So I guesse my questions are Have you experienced this with SSRI'S? Is it normal or should I ask my doc to go back to my low dose? Also do you think Id benefit with klonopin prn I tend to get seriouse anxiety at time in school its alot worse then summer socially then generally.
