Avatar n tn For some their only symptom is a dry cough. What other symptoms do you have outside of shortness of breath? Most people with lung issues often have a cough, chest tightness, and wheezing is certainly common. If you question your asthma diagnosis, then did you did a "methacholine" challenge test? If you tested positive for this one, you have definitely asthma..
Avatar n tn Hi, for the past 9 days I have had constant shortness of breath. It started with a dry cough, tightness in the chest and shortness of breath but now it's pretty much just the shortness of breath. I also am constantly burping and I feel as if I have a lump stuck in my throat. I have had a chest x-ray, ekg, blood tests and a CT angiogram of my chest done. Everything came out normal.
Avatar m tn after about a week of that i started to feel/hear some movement in the bottom of my chest at the end of my inhales and some shortness of breath. also, i was getting mild, short fevers and cold sweats a couple of nights along with tightness in the chest and feeling weak and fatigued. i went to the DR, he prescribed me Z-pack (3 days) and told me to get a chest xray if it doesnt go away after about 6 days (he was going on vacation the following week).
Avatar m tn While lung cancer usually does not cause signs and symptoms in the earliest stages, symptoms such as chronic cough, coughing up blood, chest pain, hoarseness, weight loss and shortness of breath may occur. To rule this out and ease any worry, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Direct clinical examination and additional diagnostic tests such as imaging studies of the lungs may need to be done. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Anxiety remains high as i still have intermittent chest pain, fatigue and shortness of breath when walking around the block. I’m a 47 yr old man in decent shape, non smoker, eat relatively healthy and exercise a couple times a week. I also just got over a bad sinus cough for 3 weeks that has had me sedentary for that time. Family history is moderate risk as my mom has a mild heart attack at 75 and recovered well, no stent or anything required.
1411209 tn?1315226051 Athsma has many symptoms some of which are coughing, wheezing, tightness of the chest, shortness of breath when walking or exercise. You say you are ill due to cough problems, is that chest infections or just bouts of coughing spasms ? If you find you are having breathing problems always see your G.P who can monitor any symptoms you are having.
Avatar f tn Asthma often acts up for a lot of people at night. It often manifests with cough, wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath and for some of us we get a lot of mucous too. I would suggest she see a doctor about this if this isn't the first time. pulmonary function tests can be ordered to determine the cause of her symptoms. Sometimes a chest x-ray is called for if the doctor suspects something other then asthma. Does she have day time symptoms too? Does she have allergies?
Avatar m tn Since January I have been having chest tightness, shortness of breath and a cough. The cough is daily and the other symptoms tend to come with exersise. I am 16 and was diagnosed with asthma when I was 5, but my doctor told me I don't have it any more a few years ago. I have seen a few doctors and have had a chest x-ray, echocardiogram and stress test. All of them were normal but during the stress test I got really short of breath.
Avatar m tn Whereas in asthma you would feel chest tightness, shortness of breath, cough and wheezing. Not necessarily that you will experience all of those symptoms at once. You can google it and see if it is anything like what you are experiencing. If it is bothersome, you could go and see your doctor about it.
Avatar n tn Glad to hear Birdie, that you pulled throught the illness. Pnuemonia is not like having a cold, that comes and goes. As if I'm sure you already know this. When they did the xrays, did you mention to them about the tightness of the chest? If they say everything is A Okay. then it could merely be a tightness of the muscles in the chest cavity. Your best remedy is to exercise your chest cavity. Pulling your shoulders back . As far back as you can reach them.
Avatar n tn It is not usually associated with wheezing or shortness of breath. But you can have tightness In the chest. Pulmonary function tests may be normal or reveal a mild obstructive pattern. When pulmonary function tests are normal, a positive methacholine challenge helps support the diagnosis of asthma. So, please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar f tn They found a sinus infection in the left ethmoid. I am on antibiotic for that now. The shortness of breath with dry cough still exist up to now. On May 19, I woke up went to the bathroom developed a cold sweat, felt my heart wasn't beating and became short of breath with no chest pain. This lasted about 45 sec. I took my blood pressure, it read 101/59 at the time of the cold sweat. I was scared and didn't go the ER because of no chest pain.
Avatar f tn I also looked up the syptoms of an allergy to the formaldehyde found in carpet and the short term effects are flu like symptoms, and the long term effects are shortness of breath, chest pains or tightness, cough and weezing!! It all fits! I sure hope this is it because I want to get better before allergy season starts back up!!
Avatar m tn Since January I have been having chest tightness, shortness of breath and a cough. The cough is daily and has been going on for years. the other symptoms tend to come with just mild exersise like a walk but sometimes occur at rest. I am 16 and was diagnosed with asthma when I was 5, but my doctor told me I don't have it any more a few years ago. Avatar n tn I have read conflicting information on whether GERD can actually cause shortness of breath. I'm 38, male, smoker, placed on Prilosec last week by my GP. Since I began taking the Prilosec (20mgs per day), I've had several episodes of disturbing shortness of breath...they happen at different times of the day and aren't associated with any physical exertion. I wasn't actually choking or gasping for air, but my chest definitely tightened and every breath felt very shallow.
Avatar f tn I had what started out as a cold, then a lingering cough and was started on antibiotics during which I developed chest tightness, shortness of breath and wheezing. I was diagnosed with asthmatic bronchitis, given a breathing treatment and sent home with a prescription for an albuterol inhaler. My doctor never really explained except to say that I had bronchitis which turned into asthmatic bronchitis. I do not have a history of asthma. So what exactly is asthmatic bronchitis?
Avatar f tn This may be something that is nothing to worry about, but there are very serious causes of shortness of breath, so follow up with your doctor as soon as you are able. If you are having shortness of breath associated with chest pain, go to the emergency room.
Avatar f tn I researched it and an allergy to the formaldehyde found in carpets and the glue can cause shorthness of breath, tight/chest pains, cough, and weezing! So we put some plants in my room, opened the windows and I haven't been in there for about 5 days! I am feeling a little better in the lung area, but my throat and tongue still swell quite often!
Avatar n tn At the time I had PFT test done becuase I was experiencing anxiety and vague shortness of breath (in the morning waking up). The PFT results were normal and above predicted at that time. However in the past 6 months or so I have developed a mild cough in the early morning. 2 weeks ago during the day I felt short of breath and and had a deep cough for 2 days (no fever or cold symtoms). Also I was more winded that usual during my workouts.
Avatar n tn Hello. I've had shortness of breath, chest pains and side pains x2 weeks now. I started with this cough that won't go ago a week ago. Went to my dr and she did a chest x-ray and labs. The chest x-ray was normal and all of the labs but the D-Dimer came back normal. They gave me a shot of steroids and started me on prednisone. I've been on the prednisone since last Friday and don't feel any better. I did a stat CT of my chest last Friday which came back fine.
Avatar n tn I am 42years old Female. I am facing short of breath sometimes and chest tightness. Which doctor i have to consult?
Avatar n tn 2 days ago and he put me on another round of the Zithromiacin. This latest episode of bronchitis has an added component, shortness of breath. I have experienced this at other times when I've had bronchitis, but yesterday and today I am only able to take very shallow inhalations and expirations. My cough is usually triggered and it hurts my chest to breath. My muscles in my chest and back became so tense last night that I decided to soak in a warm bath.
Avatar m tn I get frequent chest tightness, shortness of breath and palpitations. It ussually comes on with only a little bit of activity such as walking for only a few minutes, and l'll have to sit down and catch my breath. In the past few days i've also been getting pain between my shoulderblades and my left shoulder. I've been to the ER a few times and they did an ecg and chest x-ray which were normal.
