Hi, for the past 9 days I have had constant shortness of breath. It started with a dry cough, tightness in the chest and shortness of breath but now it's pretty much just the shortness of breath. I also am constantly burping and I feel as if I have a lump stuck in my throat. I have had a chest x-ray, ekg, blood tests and a CT angiogram of my chest done. Everything came out normal.
after about a week of that i started to feel/hear some movement in the bottom of my chest at the end of my inhales and some shortness of breath. also, i was getting mild, short fevers and cold sweats a couple of nights along with tightness in the chest and feeling weak and fatigued. i went to the DR, he prescribed me Z-pack (3 days) and told me to get a chest xray if it doesnt go away after about 6 days (he was going on vacation the following week).

When they did the xrays, did you mention to them about the tightness of the chest? If they say everything is A Okay. then it could merely be a tightness of the muscles in the chest cavity.
Your best remedy is to exercise your chest cavity. Pulling your shoulders back . As far back as you can reach them.

They found a sinus infection in the left ethmoid. I am on antibiotic for that now. The shortness of breath with dry cough still exist up to now. On May 19, I woke up went to the bathroom developed a cold sweat, felt my heart wasn't beating and became short of breath with no chest pain. This lasted about 45 sec. I took my blood pressure, it read 101/59 at the time of the cold sweat. I was scared and didn't go the ER because of no chest pain.
I also looked up the syptoms of an allergy to the formaldehyde found in carpet and the short term effects are flu like symptoms, and the long term effects are shortness of breath, chest pains or tightness, cough and weezing!! It all fits! I sure hope this is it because I want to get better before allergy season starts back up!!

I have read conflicting information on whether GERD can actually cause shortness of breath. I'm 38, male, smoker, placed on Prilosec last week by my GP. Hello. I've had shortness of breath, chest pains and side pains x2 weeks now. I started with this cough that won't go ago a week ago. Went to my dr and she did a chest x-ray and labs. The chest x-ray was normal and all of the labs but the D-Dimer came back normal. They gave me a shot of steroids and started me on prednisone. I've been on the prednisone since last Friday and don't feel any better. I did a stat CT of my chest last Friday which came back fine.
2 days ago and he put me on another round of the Zithromiacin. This latest episode of bronchitis has an added component, shortness of breath. I have experienced this at other times when I've had bronchitis, but yesterday and today I am only able to take very shallow inhalations and expirations.
