Avatar m tn the supplements enhance the effectiveness of the antibiotics and the 2nd antibiotic (cefdinir) is to go after the lyme. we know there is nothing here to treat the cyst form of lyme but the Dr. didn't want to put me on any more medicines at this time.
Avatar f tn -- Biaxin (clartihromycin) and Omnicef (cefdinir) for Lyme. However, I have seen references in various places online to Flagyl being used against babesia. If you search "babesiosis flagyl" you'll find what I did. Take care!
Avatar f tn clarithromycin) and Omnicef (gen: cefdinir), and then switched to Zithromax (gen: azithromycin) and Flagyl (gen: metronidazole). As I recall, the switch in meds was because I was having a bad reaction to treatment, but it may have been that the doc didn't realize my problem was the probiotic I was taking and not the antibiotics. I don't know. So ..
Avatar f tn Thank you, Jackie. My Lyme doctor thinks it will take me longer to recover than others. I didn't realize what a big deal it was until I read Dr. Burrasco's report that the steroids could stay in your system for up to 6 months and cause a disaster for someone with Lyme. I think I'll mention it to my Lyme doctor at my next appointment. I guess I thought that the steroids would be out of my system earlier than that. I was hoping someone else had taken steroids and gotten better.
Avatar m tn Wanted to update the forum on treatment of lyme/babesia. I was stricken with the sickness on Oct 3, 2014 and started treatment about 6 months afterwards. Been on Zithromax/Mepron/Fish Oil/Artimisae for 11 weeks. Made improvements until about week 8 when I hit a wall and started regressing. My primary symptoms are head wooziness/pressure, post nasal drip, sore throat and general fatigue.
Avatar f tn I took a 10 panel std test prior to the test I was taking Cefdinir although I stopped taking it 5 days before testing would the cefdinir affect the results which were negative.
Avatar m tn ve had full blood work including testing for Mono, Lyme, Parvo, Thyroid, urine culture, blood culture, sugar, electrolytes, kidney/liver functions all normal/negative. I did have Strep Group G and Group C though symptomatic (apparently that means no big deal to the doctors) and was treated with 2 rounds of antibiotics (Augmentin; Cefdinir) I've gone on a low sugar, no caffeine, no dairy diet and taking a daily, d3, garlic supplement and probiotic.
Avatar f tn Yes, I have been pronounced cured, but one always wonders if it's just that the infection has been so beaten down that it is a functional cure ... but one could say the same about any disease, perhaps. My doc, a Lyme specialist, didn't use doxy on me, but I don't know why. Lyme is on the frontiers of medicine, so there is no one way or treatment, and Lyme is an especially tricky infection in any event. Also some people react differently to different meds.
Avatar f tn Now have a possible sinus infection and doctor gave me Cefdinir. Two days into the medication, my neuropathy symptoms have increased. The burning, needle like sensations and numbness. I do not want to go through that nightmare again. So I stopped taking the antibiotic and am waiting to hear from my doctor for an alternative drug. Is this considered an allergic reaction or a severe symptom. Anyway to know which antibiotics I can use and not have this reaction.
1265027 tn?1284839951 i took him to the dr tuesday and he had a double ear infrceion. she put him on CEFDINIR and said there was a 5% chance hed have reation and wednesday (after 3 doses) he broke out in an awful rash. just like he did when he was 11 months old from the penicillin,. he is 2 and a half now. I took him to the dr and we stopped the medicine and i began the 4-6 hrs of benadryl i just want to know how long will he continue to break out? he goes between 6-8 hours and then will break out.
147426 tn?1317265632 Alternatively, it is possible that your load of Lyme bacteria are not being killed by the cefdinir (it is re-encysted or it is resistant) and you are having continued infection. Again, I'm curious about how you doc interprets this. In any case, I'm sorry you're not doing well this moment. I hope it is just a matter of finding a regimen that will kill the Lyme.
Avatar f tn Hi everybody, Saw my LLMD yesterday, and the news is (knock on wood) encouraging. The babesiosis seems to be gone, now it's a mopping up operation on the Lyme. The problems I was having on flagyl seems to have been simple gastro irritation, but it was quite effective on the Lyme: the brain fog is largely GONE. Does anyone have experience with Ketek (generic: telithromycin)?
Avatar f tn Thanks for the advice...after a rough few days there, I am doing a bunch better today, but a set back does focus the mind on these issues. About artemesia, I have a book called 'Healing Lyme' by Harold Buhner. Subtitle is 'Natural Healing and Prevention of Lyme Borreliosis and Its Coinfections', by Raven Press. I got it off Amazon new for $20.
1917408 tn?1421952040 Is the combination w/ the Cefdinir supposed to prevent the cyst formation aspect? I think I got first got sick in '02 and then got bit again last October and all hell broke loose worse than the first time. But even if I've only had it since October, that is still disseminated Lyme, isn't it? I can't say that I've had any dramatic improvement, but I did go on a short but relatively intense hike yesterday and did pretty well with it, too.
Avatar f tn s my sinus..I went to the dr the other day and I told him bout what was going on and he gave me cefdinir 300mg capsule and I been on them for 3 days and tonight I'm hurting really badly I have never been in so much pain and when I cough it hurts..does anyone know what this could be??
Avatar f tn for the last couple of days i have had really bad vertigo wether I am standing or sitting, feels kinda like I am drunk all day long, and really spiking my anxiety. I was put on cefdinir but have not even been on it a full 24 hours yet. I was wondering two things. is the vertigo/dizziness normal with these infections and how long until I can expect some relief from this medication?
Avatar f tn I took an antibiotic called cefdinir for about a week and I think augmentin for like a day?
1917408 tn?1421952040 Every one of my 4 dogs tests positive for Lyme disease. I myself tested Serum positive for Lyme disease about 6 years ago, but when they did the Western Blot they said--not Lyme--and I have no idea what that "meant." And it was so long ago that the record of the test is long gone--other than a note saying "not Lyme." But, I don't have "arthritis" and like I said, I never had a "rash.
Avatar f tn I was not tested again for strep but was given cefdinir. I realize I am only day 3 but my throat hurts worse than it did to begin with. I'm having trouble swallowing and have a consistent stabbing pain in my throat. I'm curious if anyone else has had similar symptoms or knows if this could be a continuation of strep or something else.
Avatar m tn I just had first root canal #14 through dental crown. Endodonist said there was pus -- infection. I have had allergic reaction to Levaquin and AzitheraI and have had side effects diarrhea and lightheaded from Cefdinir and Cephalexin so he prescribed Cipro 500mg. Said he doesn't usually prescribe but given that it have taken Cipro 250mg in the past (or urinary tract infection with no side effects. Is Cipro as effective as other antibiotics for dental infection?
Avatar m tn clarithromycin/Biaxin and cefdinir/Omnicef -- 5 months -- drug holiday due to side effects of probiotics--2 months -- for Lyme: Zithromax/azithromycin and Flagyl/metronidazole -- 4 months ------------------------------------------------- This may have been an abbreviated treatment schedule, because I had continuing problems from the probiotics, so my schedule is odd in at least that way.
