592969 tn?1248325405 April 1st. He was a very sick cat and needed IV fluids. His temp was 106. His blood work revealed high bilirubin, so the vet said it was probably hepatitis. He gave him a pain/fever shot and an antibiotic. The fever shot brought his fever down to 104. He was still sick in the morning, so I took him back into the vet April 1st at 2:00 p.m. Again, he needed IV fluids and a new antibiotic shot. He had a x-ray which revealed only a big gas bubble.
Avatar f tn I just wrote a huge detailed reply but I'm so tired I managed to delete it because my hands are shaky. So quickly- I just lost my first cat, I'm 50, he came with the house I moved into 3 years ago. I nursed his injuries fed him well ,so I thought, and loved him very much. I'm so ripped up- I had to put Him ..... May 4th- Thiamine deficiency caught and understood too late.I was feeding him Wellness cat food.
Avatar n tn Chemotherapy is proposed as a treatment. It is defined as a slow progressing, alimentary lymphoma. My cat is vomiting and has sometimes diarrhea, but otherwise has appetite and the fur coat is in a good condition. It has been like this more than a year. We feed him with boiled chicken and also add food supplements such as vitamins, probiotics, immune boosting tablets, omega-3 rich oil.
20849947 tn?1535957543 I don’t remember much, since I had to move out of town for college when I turned 18 and left Rocco with my parents. My new cat Spunky, has been vomiting a lot lately, despite having normal appetite and temperature. What’s wrong with him? Immediately after eating, he vomits, but looks and acts fine after. I’m feeding him Blue Buffalo protein grain-free natural cat food for adult cats. It’s the one my friend has been feeding him ever since he got older.
207091 tn?1337709493 Hi, There are numerous other conditions which may lead to weight loss. Blood work and urinalysis alone may not detect all of these. Weight loss and vomiting may be due to any of these and may not affect the appetite. Repeats of tests allow changes to be monitored over time and those changes may be instructive. Blood work is fairly inexpensive and as the testing becomes more involved and complex costs are greater.
152660 tn?1291755571 She got very dehydrated and yucky. The others were for blood on her eye- we thought the cat got her when he smacked her the night before. It ended up being just her bumping into something. We played fetch the night before and she slid into the wall several times- hardwood floors. AND she's a klutz. :) The most recent was most likely getting one of my fathers pills. He has Parkinsons Disease so he shakes and occasionally drops one. He must have not noticed or heard it.
Avatar f tn My cat has recently began ripping her hair out in the last week. She is an indoors cat mostly, but she has slipped outside a few times, as well. We live in the country. In the last week, she has been ripping her hair out and now has large bald patches (some are bleeding and scabbing). Tonight she vomited her food on the kitchen floor. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm very concerned.
Avatar m tn My 2 year old cat has been throwing up about once a day for the past week. Other than throwing up, she acts normally, she is eating and drinking normally. The throw up is a brown liquid and she usually throws up during the night as we find it when we get up in the mornings. There is no smell to the vomit. Is this something serious?
Avatar f tn X-rays show no signs of blockage or problems, and when the vet physically examined my cat she found nothing to be worried about. The blood tests did show that she had an overactive thyroid issue. Mya was put on a new diet and for a few days was fine, but is now throwing up again (although not as frequent and less vomit is present when she does throw up). She has lost 1 ounce of weight in a week. Sometimes there is food in the vomit, other times it is more bile than food.
Avatar f tn This quite often indicates portal hypertension which is the GI portal blood flowing to the liver. When the portal blood flow is disrupted, the flow resistance causes the increase in the portal blood pressure and leads to an enlarged spleen, esophageal varices, GI bleeding, etc. Has he been having any liver concerns as well?
654228 tn?1224277672 I have a 10 year old male, declawed, indoor, neutered, siamese short hair cat. About 5 days ago he was 100% fine but all of a sudden hes lost his balance, he still can walk , but he cant jump or make fast turns very well. Also hes gotten skinnier out of the blue this past 2 weeks. He was throwing up about every time we feed him but we bought a different kind of cat food and hes stopped but he still does it like once a week. Also this past month his fur has been getting knots like crazy.
Avatar f tn From experience she scratches people when she jumps on them or tries to grab at their hand of does draw blood unintentionally. On this occasion two men were walking in the store, she ran to both of them and jumped on them. She was so excited, I think when I pulled her away she may have scratched one of the men. She then scratched me on the chest about 10 minutes later in the car. It was not bleeding, but it burned slightly.
Avatar n tn You are taking action and you will get your cat treated. He will be fine you’ll see. I’m not sure why he is vomiting but I’m positive it will stop. Please keep us updated and let us know how the vet visit went as soon as you can. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. I can tell you love your pet very much.

152660 tn?1291755571 Hello aligator79, I do not have pet insurance for our cat, Sammy. However, I have looked into some of the pet insurance policies. How old is Skeeter ? Why did your vet suggest getting pet insurance for Skeeter. It sounds like you have 3 cats and a puppy named Skeeter. Is that right ? What kind of dog is Skeeter ? Is Skeeter from a dog breeder or is Skeeter a rescue , say from an animal shelter. I guess I am just trying to understand what you are facing.
9685484 tn?1424136992 I just wanted meds which does have to be issued according to size of cat. Unfortunately, owning a pet may end up with health issues with a cost but tapeworm should be corrected fairly easy but can't be ignored either. Pet adoption is wonderful and I hope you can get a break on the fee.
Avatar n tn A couple years ago my cat had a spell of vomiting, lethargy, and dehydration, and after several tests it was assumed she had gotten into some chemicals. She seems to be going through the same situation again. Friday afternoon she started throwing up, and after 4-5 times we took her to the ER vet late that night. We had them give her fluids under her skin and some anti-nausea meds to make her more comfortable until we could see her regular vet.
203342 tn?1328737207 Hi again, Having not examined your cat personally, let me say that chronic intermittent vomiting (what your cat reportedly does) and weight loss are not specific findings for any particular body system, much less a particular diagnosis. In light of the demonstrated presence of a mass which cytology has confirmed is a sarcoma, the weight loss is likely due to that disease (cancer cells use and waste a lot of energy).
Avatar n tn My uneducated theory is she had hairballs and started vomiting and developed cat anorexia after a few days of not feeling like eating. So her bilirubin would be due to anorexia. But that doesn't explain the blood count. The vet said all he could think of is that she got poisoned somehow. But she's an indoor cat and we live in a child-safe, clean house with no known poisons around.
669982 tn?1225669243 (That is great as she has always, since day one, been prone to vomiting.) I feel like we are moving in the right direction and her last blood test was an improvement. She goes in around Thanksgiving for the next blood test. BTW, she HATES taking pills and that is why the vet suggested the ear application. She got a rep at the vet a number of years back when she had to have kidney stones removed and she tried to kill the pill-givers. She has been really good with the ear application.
Avatar n tn I have a in a 16 year old cat ..with lack of appetite, great loss of weight..now sneezing and nasal fluid sound..( like runny nose at times) ? Also had some vomiting last week..and was not eating at all...
Avatar f tn Maybe it was trying to use the petunia as a laxative. It's possible she is not sick from the petunias. She may need to pass hairballs. If she is feeling sick she may have ate this to make herself vomit, getting rid of the hairball or something else. It probably wouldn't hurt to give her some "cat lax" you can buy it in a pet store and just keep it on hand. I hope it's nothing more and she get better. P.S. I think they have a pet forum here.
