Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker indicated for hypertension. The S form of
amlodipine is said to be responsible for dilation of blood vessels
and lowering of blood pressure. The S- isomer of amlodipine or Asomex® is being studied in clinical trials and may lead to side effects such as fatigue or tiredness, dizziness or fainting, headache, flushing, or swelling of the legs or ankles. Side effects of amlodipine are generally mild and reversible.
