I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests. All came back normal except Vitamin D. Advised to take 1000mg of Vitamin D per day. Follow up appt. set for 7/10 where they will do a urine test again.

Female cousin diagnosed with MS in early 20’s.
physical therapy, seen a chiropractor, taken 4 differed muscle relaxers (flexaril 5 and 10mg, skelaxin, robaxin, and one other that I can't remember), taken 3 different NSAIDS (ibuprofen, naproxen, and mobic), a steroid injection, and taken more percocets than I can count.
The pain only occurs after I put weight on my spine, when I wake up in the morning I feel fantastic, no pain at all. But once I stand up and put weight on my spine, the pain starts.
Hi about a year ago a had an injury at work that caused 2 herniated disks. I did the physical therapy for a while than realized I can do most of the pt stuff at home or at the gym. I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin.
I don't know if I'm pregnant or not but If I am can Ibuprofen harm my child during early stages of pregnancy?
I took tylenol this morning. I took Ibuprofen an hour ago . I coudnnt take it anymore. It was a one time thing and i feel so much better. Will my baby be okay?
My pain was caused mostly by horrible muscle spasms and Skelaxin helped with that. I also find that eating a healthy diet low in processed foods, no msg, lots of whole grains and fresh or fresh frozen vegatables and limited sugar (I use Splenda, aspartame gives me migraines) helps a lot.
Also, I stay on top of my thyroid. Thyroid issues can mimic FMS and can make things worse. I have mine checked a few times a year with a TSH test and have doc do a FULL thyroid panel at least once a year...

Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped.
The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
It is a short acting agent and is usually prescribed two or more often three times a day. There are multiple drug interactions associated with Tizanidine such as Cipro so be sure to remember this when or if a new med is added to your regimen. I have no personal information on it's effectiveness.
I tried numerous muscle relaxants. They often left me feeling " hung over" and depressed. I was ready to give up on any of them.
She x-rayed my knee and saw arthritis , which I knew was there. I have arthritis both kinds. Have taken 800 mg Ibuprofen for the pain, try not to take it often as I know it elevates BP and harmful to body. I also take aspirin, tylenol, and wear a Flector pain patch when it gets unbearable. I alternate with the pain meds dont take them the same days. The doctor put me on Tramadol for pain and made an appt. with my regular MD April 5th.
If you have any personal knowledge about any of these drugs, would you be willing to share your experiences with me? I really need to know if the "Pros" are WORTH the "Cons". Here they are (in no particular order):

I really do not know how addictive it can be, but I would say that if you already have addiction issues, you certainly could abuse it and become addicted.
I guess you need to weigh the benefits and risks. Personally, I would not take it unless absolutely necessary. But, I have very little experience with it. Others will add their info and opinions.
