Avatar n tn I'm a 44-year old female, with asthmatic allergic response to cats since childhood. I smoked off and on from 18-39, about 5 pack-years. I've lived near a cat (outdoors with access to my husband's study) for 18 years, and have treated my asthma with albuterol, adding ventolin when necessary. About 12 weeks ago I caught bronchitis, then wildfires broke out near my home that made the air unhealthy for about 2 weeks. This provoked a severe asthma attack -- for three weeks.
Avatar f tn can levetiracetam 750mg (2 2 times a day) be taken with amlodipine 10mg (1 time a day) and albuterol 90mcg (2 pumps 4 times a day). Can these be mixed? I this too much medicine?
Avatar f tn My 3 year old daughter gets bad colds with coughing and slight weezing atleast 3 or 4 times out of the year. Her doctor has always perscribed albuterol and budesonide through a nebulizer. This time around when I took her he added Singulair and Prednisolone. He hasn't actually diagnosed her with asthma but her father and uncle both have it. Could she be getting it also and what kind of test should she get to see if she has asthma. Any suggestions would really help.
Avatar f tn Switched up steriod to inhaled Flovent 44 instead of nebulizer and albuterol qid. No results. Chest x-ray and blood allergy (why not at this point) ordered and clear. Follow up with Pulm realized no coughing at night and diagnosed with Protracted Bronchitis. Treated 3 weeks of Augmentin 500mg BID x three weeks. Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus.
Avatar m tn I took Primatene mist for asthma 2 months back but my doctor asked me to stop using it and prescribed PREDNISONE, ALBUTEROL inhaler and BUDESONIDE and I have been taking these for past two months. My tests came negative. My question are 1) Is test conclusive? 2) Does medications mentioned above cause false negative? 3) It was 8 panel test which includes Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HSV 1, HSV 2, HIV and syphilis. All except HSV 1 came negative.
Avatar n tn no emergencies, thank goodness). He takes Singulair every night, Albuterol as needed and Benadryl as needed (all as suggested by his doctor). He recently had a cold and his asthma flared up. We gave him albuterol via his nebulizer 3 times daily for around 6 days (his ped said 4-7 days).
Avatar f tn I spent the next 3 months going through Albuterol inhalers and albuterol in my nebulizer. And also then Budesonide in my nebulizer. Nothing helped. I was having near-death experiences trying to get to the nebulizer to open up my air passages. I finally called my pharmacy to find out why I did not get my advair and it turned out that I could still get it and my price was the same as always with my medicare. After just one day I was immediately on the mend.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was 10 yrs old, I'm now 27. I've played soccer since I was a kid and never had any serious issues. About 2 yrs ago I had a real bad cold/sinus infection and ended up in the ER because of my asthma. Ever since then, I have not been able to get my asthma under control. I've been prescribed almost everything you can think of, steroids, albuterol, xopenex (inhaler and inhalation solution), budesonide, mucinex and that's just for my asthma.
Avatar m tn Sometimes the worm check needs to be done multiple times. And, if the cat was/is indoor outdoor, then a test for Giardia needs to be done. Giardia can cause all of the symptoms that you describe. Also, an ultrasound may need to be done as well. Good luck! I hope the poor kitty finds relief soon.

Avatar n tn And does not respond to steroids or typical asthma medications. Sometimes it can be mistaken for asthma and is usually something that gets thought of when the typical treatments for asthma don't work and other things are ruled out. It can also happen along with asthma--some people have both problems.
Avatar m tn In any case, for about 2 months Hudson was on a very high dosage of these anti-inflammatories. He developed diabetes and pancreatitis and had to be hospitalized for 10 days! We have now switched to 1mg of Budesonide a day to help with the inflammation and to try and bring the diabetes under control, we are giving our cat 1cc of insulin a day and we have switched his diet to Nature's Variety Instinct brand of cat food in the rabbit formulation.
Avatar f tn 5mg. Doing very well, and although there can be serious side effects such as liver toxicity and disruption to the bone marrow, I am monitored monthly and have no problems. As far as I can recollect, I don't think the side effects, viz. moon face, facial hair and fat pad on the neck (all of which I have had quite a number of times when the prednisone had to be increased in a flare period) are anywhere near as bad as pred.
Avatar f tn Hi, Asthma cannot worsen angina but over use of inhaler albuterol can lead to low potassium levels in the blood, which in turn can cause palpitations, arrhythmias, irregular beats etc. So if you are experiencing frequent attacks of asthma, you should try to prevent triggering agents which cause asthma and also get evaluated by a pulmonologist for correction of dose of polemicist for preventing further attacks of asthma. Hope this helps. Best.
Avatar f tn I have arrhythmias and do use albuterol for my asthma. Albuterol is an adrenergic medication. It acts similarly to adrenalin on the body. When using an inhaler, you'll probably have a slightly accelerated heart rate and feel your heart beating (palpitations) for about 10-15 minutes. You mentioned a machine. Are you using a nebulizer at home? Again, albuterol is usually used in the nebulizer and it takes about 15 minutes to finish the breathing treatment.
1491064 tn?1288394052 i mentioned it to his doctor and she said that studdering is common for boys his age, and to this day he is studdering and very badly. i just wanted to see what you thought.
Avatar n tn hi, my question is can we mix albuterol, ipratropium, pulmacort together and the order is give these medication together by nebulizer.
Avatar n tn s a little better now....Last year he did take budesonide mixed with splenda and a tiny bit of water orally for several months (on top of the Flovent), but it didn't appear to do much, and he would gag on it every time. Maybe it did help, but as every dose was a battle we just didn't last with it for very long.
Avatar m tn Fluticasone mainly acts as anti inflammatory drug and has no action on heart. Hence, these drugs can be safely given in patients with Atrial fibrillation. I suggest you to consult physician for more information. Take care and regards.

Avatar f tn I recently started having breathing difficulties and thought it could be asthma so I went to the doctor. After asking some questions, listened to my chest and doing a test to measure my breath he said I don't have asthma but I'm wondering if he could have made a mistake. I get a tight chest sometimes for several hrs, making it difficult to breath deeply. Anytime I smell perfume, air freshener, bleach or cigarette smoke I start wheezing violently.
757137 tn?1347196453 This is used as an alternative to Albuterol if the side effects are severe with Albuterol. This could also be used in conjunction with Albuterol, to relieve acute flare ups of Asthma. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with asthma and was prescribed ventolin and budesonide inhalers. After a few days of suffering side effects and getting much worse I went back to the doctor and he confirmed that I am allergic to budesonide, which he said is quite unusual. He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids.
