Avatar n tn I'm a 44-year old female, with asthmatic allergic response to cats since childhood. I smoked off and on from 18-39, about 5 pack-years. I've lived near a cat (outdoors with access to my husband's study) for 18 years, and have treated my asthma with albuterol, adding ventolin when necessary. About 12 weeks ago I caught bronchitis, then wildfires broke out near my home that made the air unhealthy for about 2 weeks. This provoked a severe asthma attack -- for three weeks.
Avatar f tn My 3 year old daughter gets bad colds with coughing and slight weezing atleast 3 or 4 times out of the year. Her doctor has always perscribed albuterol and budesonide through a nebulizer. This time around when I took her he added Singulair and Prednisolone. He hasn't actually diagnosed her with asthma but her father and uncle both have it. Could she be getting it also and what kind of test should she get to see if she has asthma. Any suggestions would really help.
Avatar f tn This season came around and sure enough, when he got a cold it went straight to lungs (wheezing, SOB, coughing) We started inhaled steroid (budesonide), albuterol regimen again. Proved unsuccessful to resolve cough. Round of Orapred proved unsuccessful to resolve cough. After four months we consulted with Pulmonologist. Switched up steriod to inhaled Flovent 44 instead of nebulizer and albuterol qid. No results. Chest x-ray and blood allergy (why not at this point) ordered and clear.
Avatar f tn I spent the next 3 months going through Albuterol inhalers and albuterol in my nebulizer. And also then Budesonide in my nebulizer. Nothing helped. I was having near-death experiences trying to get to the nebulizer to open up my air passages. I finally called my pharmacy to find out why I did not get my advair and it turned out that I could still get it and my price was the same as always with my medicare. After just one day I was immediately on the mend.
Avatar n tn no emergencies, thank goodness). He takes Singulair every night, Albuterol as needed and Benadryl as needed (all as suggested by his doctor). He recently had a cold and his asthma flared up. We gave him albuterol via his nebulizer 3 times daily for around 6 days (his ped said 4-7 days).
Avatar m tn I took Primatene mist for asthma 2 months back but my doctor asked me to stop using it and prescribed PREDNISONE, ALBUTEROL inhaler and BUDESONIDE and I have been taking these for past two months. My tests came negative. My question are 1) Is test conclusive? 2) Does medications mentioned above cause false negative? 3) It was 8 panel test which includes Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HSV 1, HSV 2, HIV and syphilis. All except HSV 1 came negative.
1987536 tn?1337916244 Albuterol doesn't bother me as much as advair after reading bunches of articles :(
Avatar f tn I think everybody takes it for granted that it is, I read a few (credible scientific) articles on this subject and some say the benefits are modest vs the contraindications. Elsewhere I read they are prescribed for days or weeks, my doctors told me to keep using them indefinitely. Wish you all the best, meaning let's hope we don't get worse too fast...
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was 10 yrs old, I'm now 27. I've played soccer since I was a kid and never had any serious issues. About 2 yrs ago I had a real bad cold/sinus infection and ended up in the ER because of my asthma. Ever since then, I have not been able to get my asthma under control. I've been prescribed almost everything you can think of, steroids, albuterol, xopenex (inhaler and inhalation solution), budesonide, mucinex and that's just for my asthma.
446049 tn?1649005835 Last week, I went to my primary care doctor last week after 3 weeks of cough/congestion. She sent me for chest xrays and started me on Albuterol inhaler, ZPak antibiotic (Azithromycin) for 5 days and mucinex. The xrays came back negative for pneumonia but indicated lungs were minimally hyperinflated. I've never smoked. I feel a bit better but still have the cough.(4 weeks now). Would Erythromycin be a better antibiotic to stop this cough?
7052683 tn?1392938795 lucky tho that she has such a good mommy and is helping her as best she can. Its always such a difficult dilemma to weight the pros and cons the quality of life vs quantity. First of all you need to decide if these medication are helping her or just adding to her troubles. Are you positive its the med that is causing the diarrhea? thats not one of the side effects listed, in fact constipation is. so perhaps the dosage isn't yet just right???
Avatar n tn That doctor took him off all the medications and he was fine with no adverse reactions but occasionly felt he need an albuterol inhaler. In Jan 2011 he developed a severe cold which aggravated his asthma and is now (Nov 11), and has since, been back on daily doses of Qvar, Claritin, and Rhinoqort. Again I will be taking him for a second opinion. My questions are: 1. What are the individula and/or combined side effects of taking these medications daily? 2.
Avatar f tn I was then given Advair Diskus 250/50, after 2 1/2 months called the doctor because of using emergency inhaler Albuterol Sulfate 90mgc min 10 times a day. Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent. Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema.
Avatar f tn The textbook answer is "absolutely not". But my answer would be there is no significant harm in doing so. The problem with albuterol is that the cells become de-sensitized to the chemical, and suddenly it doesn't work at all. Sometimes a short "holiday" from albuterol will cause the cells to reset. You mom has what is sometimes called a "twitchy" lung. And it has to be de-sensitized. Often a single week or two of prednisone will do the job.
Avatar n tn Inhaling nicotine from these e-cig devices would be as harmful as albuterol inhalers in fact e-cig might be safer than albuterol inhaler since albuterol frequently causes your lungs to internally bleed. And the only reason our government wants to ban e-cigs is because they're not "tobacco products" and not subject to those extreme tax rates cigarettes receive. It's all about tax revenue, same reason all 'illegal' drugs remain illegal, no taxation. Follow the money.
Avatar n tn I am regularly using Ventloin, Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. The only problem is breathlessness arising from throat tightness. I never wheeze in the life. The throat tightness is getting reduced when i take Ventolin. The doctor say i don't have to take ventolin beacause Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. will prevent the difficulty. But only medicines which seems to be working is Ventolin and Motelukast+LC.
Avatar f tn I had a month or so on Entecort (budesonide here in England) but had a severe rectal haemorrhage and was hospitalised on IV steroids and needed blood transfusions. I don't think my gastro in England, who prescribed it, at the time realised that Entecort only works in the small intestine, and I had Pan Crohn's Colitis. As I had stopped prednisone to go onto budesonide, I had no protection in the colon, hence the flare.
Avatar f tn There are different things that can cause bronchitis but no - When it comes to respiratory illness- Youll hear viral and bacterial thrown around- Viral (flu, cold) vs Bacterial. They can present differently. The major difference is that an antibiotic will only cure a bacterial infections. Antibiotics are not prescribed for viral infections. Most likely you will receive an albuterol inhaler for wheezing and be told to rest :) If symptoms persist I would revisit your physician.

Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with asthma and was prescribed ventolin and budesonide inhalers. After a few days of suffering side effects and getting much worse I went back to the doctor and he confirmed that I am allergic to budesonide, which he said is quite unusual. He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids.
Avatar f tn Budesonide is the generic name, i am on Entocort with contains budesonide, because budesonide is not sold generically in the state of new jersey. I have been on it for about 3 months now, but I was also on it for quite awhile a few years ago. I have never had anything but success with it. there are no side effects. I will be on it for another 2 months and my dr plans to take me off of it.
Avatar n tn Over that period I have tried different combinations of Prednisolone, Budesonide, Salazopyrin, Singulair and Colpermin, all with limited success. Presently, I am taking Budesonide (9mg daily) and Salazopyrin (150mg daily). Whilst this allows me to function normally (i.e. normal bowel movements) I have discomfort, bloating and cramping all day, every day. Has anybody ever come through this disease to lead a normal life, or has anyone treated a patient that has done so?
17080824 tn?1453552185 t take any form of drugs. and do not smoke, do not drink and I am a vegetarian. Yes I am inhaling Budesonide Powder to tackle with chronic cough issue. Is it the reason then ? Thank you doctor for your reply and suggestion.
Avatar n tn I take Allegra, Zyrtec, Claritin, Flonase and singular, albuterol nebs and inhaler, also famotidine 2x daily I was on advair for 2months and he said stop because it did nothing for me other than change sputum from slimy to chunky and is quite pricey for no results. For kicks and giggles I have started taking garden of life immune sinus balance and clearlungs which I can honestly say for a month I felt a little different 20min after taking the herbal stuff but not so much anymore.
