I have frequently gotten these bumps on my head that are extremely hard. They seem to be made out of dandruff or built up dead skin cells, but I use a specialized shampoo that keeps my scalp moisturized since I've had dandruff issues before. The bumps leak a clear fluid when I scratch them off, and, as expected of an open "wound", sting when in contact with anything external.
I started getting hard bumps on my scalp several years ago. The feel like really hard scabs and are painful to the touch. They are about the circumfrence of the tip of my index finger. I have picked the scab off before and it leaves a shallow hole in my scalp, but doesn't really bleed. There is some sort of clear liquid that does not smell. When the skin grows back I have a small bald spot for a bit until my hair grows back.
I do not know if these bumps are DH or if it is another problem just caused by malnutrition that Celiac disease causes. But is this your only symptom or do you have other signs of malnutrition?
The first shampoo I would recommend trying is called Nizoral shampoo. It is pricy but it is helpful for clearing many scalp conditions and it also helps regrow hair.
I do many, many things to restore my health. My scalp is much better, but I would say that shampoo was key.

I have been getting my hair cuts close to the scalp for several years. Until now, I never had these red bumps on the back of my scalp where i get close haircuts. I go to a professional barber who uses clean equipment. These red bumps are not itchy and dont have any pus. The bumps look like acne with no pus. I wash my hair daily. I havent used any new products. Are these red bumps due to scalp folliculitis? What is it? Is there any treatment? I like to keep my hair short(military).
Perifolliculitis is characterized by small, very itchy pustules within the scalp, often most troublesome on the frontal hairline. The scalp should be washed with a mild normal shampoo as often as desired. Antidandruff shampoos containing antifungal agents such as ketoconazole or ciclopirox are sometimes helpful. Apart from that you need topical and oral antibiotics, antihistamines, oral steroids and topical tretinoin.
My sincere advice is to get it examined from a dermatologist.

Painful sores, blisters, or bumps that develop on the scalp may be caused by Infection of the hair shafts (folliculitis) or the skin (such as impetigo).
An allergic skin reaction (contact dermatitis) can also cause it. Since you already have an allergic predisposition it could very well be this.
Bacterial infection of the sinuses could cause the lymph nodes to enlarge.THe treatment for folliculitis is local application of anti-bacterial cream like mupirocin.

I have on and off 1 to 3 pus filled bumps on my scalp and itchy scalp too. Sometimes, i can have none at all.The first Dermatologist prescribed me Cefixime, Erymed and Desolex ointment. it does not heal and seem to make it worse. after a month, the second doctor gave me flucoral and her own shampoo and it is still there. swab test for bacteria after two months with results staphylococcus non koagulase. I am afraid of other underlying issues.

Hello, I'm a 16 y/o girl with a super embarrassing problem. I've contracted ringworm on the back of my neck. It's bumpy, very red and swollen, and sometimes it just causes skin on my scalp to flake off like dandruff. 5 days ago i got this huge high bumps, one in my scalp, and the other two of 3 next to each other on my back, with a big red plake of around 5 CMS. They're itchy and burn at times, but are receiding well, and mostly gone. After I got the results and did a bit of internet searching I seen where HSV can be in the mouth. I noticed small red bumps on the roof of my mouth an a small bit of white pus on my tonsil. I went to the dentist who then sent me to my ENT. ENT advised of sinus infection, (sore throat) not HSV. Could I have transmitted HSV2 to her scalp? I've had several black spots on my scalp for the past 6-7 years. I've seen several dermatologists but none of the treatments have worked. All of this began with severe flaking on my scalp. Large chunks of scabs/flakes that I could see where my hair grew from. Then I got one large area (the size of a pencil eraser) that scabbed up but transformed into a persistent raised bump.

But my concern is about the pus-filled bumps on the back and sides of his scalp. He has had them for a long time, he went and seen a doctor about them and the doctor just told him that it's like athlete's feet and to put some fungus ointment on them. When my fiancee told me what the doctor had said I was like "That don't sound right." When I use my blackhead tool to poke the bumps, this whitish yellowish pus substance comes out and it smells bad. What could this be?
