Lunesta seems to work okay for me. I've only taken it three or four times (I only take it as needed and not on a nightly basis.) I was prescribed Klonopin for anxiety and sleep and she said to not take it with Lunesta (this is after I asked *her*, she didn't mention it until then.) The Klonopin seems to work as well as the Lunesta, BTW. Kevin, I've read that Lunesta and Ambien are the same "types" of sleep aids but that is all I know. I hope Ryan can clear this up for us.

5mg (half pill), 3mg (full pill), or 4.5mg - one and half pills). I usually do 175mg trazadone plus half pill lunesta for sleep almost every night. i've been on the sleep meds for about 2-3 months. Sometimes, i take just lunesta since I have retrograde ejaculation due to trazadone. I take these medications for sleep insommnia. They work. I also take propecia for hair loss (not sure that it's related). I also take cialis/viagra as needed for ED that started about 5-6 years ago.

I want to taper off xanax. Would it be safe to take half a 1 mg. xanax with 2 mg Lunesta or would I then become dependent on the Lunesta also?

Ambien is available in 5mg dosage...might be the right thing for you if you are splitting the 10mg ones in half.

A friend gave me lunesta once i started hallucinating from insomnia. I never to it regularly. I would wait until I started feeling wacky from lack of sleep, then when I couldn't handle it, I would take one. It helped me sleep about 6hrs, but that was a lot after sleeping 7 hrs a weeks. My sleep is still messed up after 200 and something days, but I get two blocks of 3-4 hrs now, and am able to function.

It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.

The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.

so when I was in the Er last night they gave me Lunesta a sleeping pill to help me sleep I'm 31 w 5 d n my mom told me its not safe...is it..I mean babys fine n stuff but the hospital wouldn't give it to me if it wasent ok right ?

Do you think that is too much? Can i cut the pills in half. I am a tiny person and my doc knows that. I dont know why she would give me the highest dose? I have a phobia of taking pills.

Nauty- I replied to your other post about PMDD- I hope it helps. I didn't know you were taking anti-anxiety meds as well for this- as PMDD is what drove me to become very recently addicted to Xanax (that and Chantix to quit smoking- since you smoke, let me issue the warning now- DO NOT USE Chantix if you have PMDD and are otherwise prone to irrational behavior because of it. I almost gave up my life this past Sunday- which is why I found this forum.

I have had periods of being wound up as well, unfortunately sometimes they were in the middle of the night. I found that the mental acuity and depression lifted pretty much in 2 weeks but some of the other stuff hangs on, and probably will for a few months. I would probably hang on to the Celexa and Ambien for a little while. I was able to cut back my Xanax to none during the day, but was told by my doctor to keep taking it. I'm also back on Tx for 4 more weeks.

anybody have ideas to help insomnia, i am taking melatonin and it was working during tx , but I am in the middle of my third week of tx . i have a chemically induced daze, little fatigue , muscle aches amd slight insomnia and melatonin doesnt seem to kick in , so i tale a little Ativan and it helps a little.

Ambien and Lunesta are both known as "Z" drugs. Though not benzos in the traditional sense, they act on the same receptors and have the same problems as traditional benzos. The people I have seen get off of them have tapered slowly and found another drug to help with sleep until sleep normalizes. Slowly reduce your dose and try a non-narcotic sleep aid such as Rozerem or Trazodone.

You might try taking a combination of Valerian and Melatonin when you stop the Lunesta. I was taking Lunesta in my early withdrawals and it did make me sleep, but that nasty taste was to much for me. I must say I haven't really slept really well since, but the herbs I mention do help somewhat, I take a hot bath before bed then I take them. From what I've heard Lunesta withdrawals are mainly mental, but you can get addicted to just about anything.

Hi All, Just got back from seeing my pain doc and am starting my official tapering schedule today. I will take 7 norcos a day for either 1 or 2 weeks - she left it up to me - I am going to try to make it just one week. Then 6 for 2 weeks, etc. I did not get a refill on my morphines - I would used them to "tide me over" when I ran out of my norco early. I did get a new script for Lunesta - never had it before, I've always used Ambien.

Celexa (depression), Ultram (pain) Vicodin (bad pain), Lunesta (to stay asleep), and now Provigil (to stay awake in the day). I have say, these all are helping, but maybe about 50%. The pain never goes away, only flucuates to bad or worse. The Lunesta is great. I tried Ambien & Sonata, but couldn't handle the side effects. Lunesta keeps me asleep but doesn't make me feel hung-over in the morning.

For the last fev days, ever since we are using humidifier I have a metallic taste in my mouth; the strongest is always in the morning; my husband just turn on house humidifier and I wonder if this is just coincident, or it does have something to do with the humidifier... furnice, and humidifier are working more during the night, that would explain, but is so strange... anybody has any idea?

I actually found that when I tried Lunesta (or had to switch to it from my normal Ambien because I was in the hospital and they only use Lunesta there) - that I had the same thing happen to me. As soon as I was able to go back to my normal Ambien, it stopped. I wonder if it's a side effect of the Lunesta... but maybe not since you said taking the Lunesta actually helped the situation for you.

I have been on 80 mg. Of oxy for a year now n quit cold turkey Friday night. I had no idea what I was in for. The muscle spasms , migriane followed by vomiting. Can't sleep so tried. Final call some local abuse hotline. They were closed for mlk. Call my doc. On 4th day gave Xanax for a week and lunesta at night is this a bad idea? My wife.
