Avatar f tn Besides that excruciating pain, I have started to have extreme pain in the tooth next to the extraction. I had a lower left side molar pulled, and the tooth behind it is in pain, and there is a wisdom tooth behind that. Is this pain caused by my teeth moving now that there is space? Is it residual pain from the dry socket or the trauma of having a tooth pulled? It is a constant pulsing pain made worse by pressure, and it hurts even more when I sneeze.

I looked and the area is white but doctor said that it's healing.

Avatar f tn I had a tooth filled and two days later had to go back and get it extracted. The paid has subsided a lot it has been 24 hours. However, I still feel pain around the front of my mouth at the gum lines both top and bottom. The tooth was extracted from the top back (my left side) of the mouth. It doesn't hurt terrible but its a nagging pain. My mouth and jaw are awfully sore. I have never had such pain before after a tooth extraction. Why are my gum lines feeling sore.
Avatar n tn An old root canal had developed an abscess. The tooth was very difficult to extract and the dentist had to focibly rock the tooth back and forth to get it loose enough to remove. The tooth came out fully in tact. However, I now have a very painful, sharp bony protrusion on the outside of the gum area of the extraction. Is this some kind of broken or crushed socket?
1809287 tn?1316744936 ive considered dry socket, but the pain is not in my gums it is in my jaw and in the tooth beside the extraction site. i have been taking antibiotics, and painkillers, but it just doesnt get rid of the pain fully. there are stitches that go from the extraction site all the way up towards my upper jaw, which i dont understand why they are there, or what the dentist did to me.
Avatar n tn I went to my dentist yesterday and he told me the bone is infected and the tooth is dead and needed to come out. I would like to take antibiotics again in the hopes that it may give me a few months to weight my options while not in pain. If he takes my tooth out I will then have to get an implant, he says, which costs about $5,000. I would like to postpone this expense. Is it okay logic to ask for antibiotics instead of extraction? Will antibiotics stop the pain and perhaps the infection?
Avatar m tn Hi, The process of an extraction essentially involves getting consent, providing home care instructions after the extraction, numbing of the area, removal of the tooth and then cleaning of the area and controlling of bleeding prior to dismissal and prescription of pain/antibiotics as necessary per the doctor. Not sure what the best dental company is. I'm assuming you don't have a regular dentist. Ask whom your family or friends go to.
Avatar f tn I have 3 teeth in need of extraction and one in need of a root canal. It ***** to have to wait.
Avatar f tn My dentist prescribed antibiotics for the tooth extraction. I told him I am on interferon and he called my GI and checked with him first. I don't think there should be any issues. Both your dentist and doctor should know all your current medications and any invasive dental procedure you are planning.
Avatar m tn I felt okay after some time but when my wisdom tooth started growing, the gum was dark red(the gum above the wisdom tooth) and i noticed somekind of boil in the place of extraction, extra bump(swollen lymph) in between my right cheek and jaw, almost where the tooth was extracted and then i noticed other two growing under my chin(one sub-mandibular and the other one, on the upper right side of my throat). I went to many dentists and they said there must have been a tooth broken in the gum.
Avatar n tn infected teeth are very difficult to numb. usually a course of antibiotics before the extraction works well. have the tooth checked it might just be a case of needing the root canal redone and an extraction is not necessary.
Avatar f tn Thankyou! It's been two months now. I already visit an orthodontist and she said I need to remove the bad tooth. But i'm scared of extraction because of what I read in the internet, that there is a possibility of sepsis after a tooth extraction. Please enlighten me!

Avatar n tn I just had crownlengenthing done on my lower jaw last friday and the stitches fell out within 4 days, the gums near one tooth really pulled back and has like a pocket between the gum & tooth and hurts like when I had a dry socket. ( I can stick my tongue in it) I was told I can't have dry socket with this, but boy does it hurt. Will the gums draw back to the tooth? DO I treat it the same as dry socket?
Avatar f tn On the other hand, if patient was hurt and refused extraction, just prescribe antibiotics and pain killer. The bottom line is, rct is futile and may introduce microorganisms to periapical tissue, w which may cause more infection.
