Avatar f tn I'm a 55 Y/O female who has been binge eating for about 20 years. I've been to every kind of therapy, even went to a psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders, gave me an RX ( don't remember the name) I've gained and lost 50LBS 3 times, this time I gained 60LBS and can't loose the last 25. I can't control my eating no matter what I do. I've also been to OA and I didn't like it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Is anyone out there a binge eater that would like to get into contact to help recovery? I've had eating disorders for the past 10 years...anorexia, bulimia, recovered on my own for a bit, but now after starting a career and having more stress in my life, I'm not normal anymore. I binge. I went on topamax for a bit and this helped but didn't like the weird side effects and I know I can't rely on drugs my whole life. I'm 26 and just want to be normal with food.
Avatar f tn Instead, I tell myself that overeating will increase my metabolism and may help with weight loss later. Or I tell myself that all dieters fail on occasion. A binge-session may stave off a dieter's burn out. My goal is to reroute that path in my brain, so I stop punishing myself for overeating. Don't get me wrong. I also take responsibility for these failures. That's why I have to log them in my food diary.
Avatar f tn I have oesteosporosis and I binge eat. Binge eating has never been a problem in the past because I have always been very thin and never gained weight, until now. For years my weight has been between 102 & 106. I'm 5'3". Over the past few years I have gained 15 lbs. and it keeps adding on. I can't believe that at my age , this is a huge problem for me.
Avatar f tn When I drink even a moderate amount I do not binge and purge. Also, I always get the urge to binge and purge during the evening. I am thinking of going to a professional but I really want to do this by myself, I was wondering if this could be due to a chemical imbalance?? I have always had problems with depression as a child and was anorexic for sometime as an adolescent until I discovered bulimia.
Avatar f tn I've always suffered from binge eating. 3 months ago I tried Meridia, and it was wonderful. I do not like to take medicines...therefore I stopped taking Meridia, but sometimes I take one for a few days when I believe I'm eating too much....but as soon as i stop taking it, I go back to the same old habits. Do you know of something similar that I can take w/o the same side effects...
1041656 tn?1253394619 I have a serious food issue. I used to be very skinny and pretty, but lately I've been putting on weight because of the amount of food I've been eating. I usually binge eat at night - sometimes during the day if I can't control the urge - and then I feel awful about all the calories I've taken in. For the past month I've been trying to jog at least three times a day, usually for at least 1 1/2 - 2 hours each time.
Avatar f tn You binge because you feel helpless or powerless...once you figure out what to do re the pain in your groin and your sleep disruption, the binge will stop. There are probably options you have not completely explored...
612101 tn?1220772860 I have suffered from binge eating since I was 20 yrs old. I am now 36. For the last 15 yrs I have been on many many anti depressants, diets, diet pills etc. I have had pretty much binge free the last 2 years while I was on Effexor and Wellbutrin. I came into money problems and had to taper off them. I had totally forgot about my eating disoder....well....I think I thought I grew out of it finally. Since I have been off my pills in the last few months I hve started binge eating again.
Avatar f tn I'm a 56 y/o female who has had a problem with binge eating since I was about 30. I can gain 20 lbs in a month no problem. Sometimes I can't stop eating, and when I'm too full to eat anymore, I can't wait to digest so I can eat more. I've been to psychiatrist's that specialize in eating disorders, OA, read every book I could find, went to counseling for years and years, and have been on every diet there is.
Avatar f tn If I am in a binge eating and vomiting, can I go to the ER and get some help? It seems I cannot stop and I just feel that at the ER nobody would understand... Also I do not feel like this I can go to work, I have been in my house for 5 days straight, but I cannot tell this to my boss or to the 6 people that report to me. Plus I have so much work and responsibility and my boss would be very upset that I take sick days off because of all that needs to be done.
Avatar f tn I also recommend watching the binge eating disorder video on YouTube from the channel breelovesbeauty .... I suffered from bed and these things helped me a lot.

1207078 tn?1265825982 m glad you posted here. Unfortunately binge eating and anorexia are like different sides of the same coin. You have an eating disorder. The good news is you CAN become a "normal teenage girl" and get recovery from your eating disorder. The problem though is it's not something that can be achieved easily with "tips" or "tricks". Eating disorders are complicated and have many causes.
Avatar n tn What kind of physical consequences are there to binge eating. I had this for years, overeating really fast and way too much. In the recent past I got on a medication and stopped. But now I have bad acid reflux, what feels like a tear in my intestines and an ulcer in my stomach and a gallbladder that is going downhill. I never knew what it meant to be full because I would alot of times eat past that.
Avatar f tn Is anyone familiar with binge eating disorder? I have been struggling with what I believe is binge eating disorder. It has gotten out of control and I am at a loss as to how to stop it. I have gained a horrible amount of weight and am miserable. I just want to regain control and able to cope in a healthy way...
Avatar f tn The best thing to do is not have junk food in the house, if you can't stop with eating a single portion. Replace the chips, cookies, etc with fresh cut up veggies, such as carrots, celery, radishes, broccoli, or cauliflower. You'll get the same crunch, but you'll get nutrition instead of the fat and empty calories. If you need the salt, sprinkle on just a tad of sea salt to add a bit of flavor.
8793709 tn?1409594060 every day I give in to some kind of unhealthy eating binge. my problem is that when I open a pack of biscuits, chocolates or anything the like, I can't stop until I've finished eating the entire pack ... that can be anything between 500 - 1000 calories. after that I feel so guilty. and yet it happens all the time. You ladies experienced the same? what do you do in such situations?
Avatar f tn Drink 2 cups of water before every meal. This will help with your apatite so you can get more full and eat less.

Avatar n tn I need to stop binge eating its my biggest downfall , any suggestions what to eat instead of sweets and choclate ??
Avatar f tn sounds like you are developing an eating disorder (binge eating disorder) or food addiction. To find out if you are have an eating disorder, you need to contact your doctor. Here is some information about food addiction. To being with, it is important to know that sugar and starches (and chocolate) are ‘drugs’ to the brain, as they can significantly alter or moderate mood. Comfort food - which I am guessing is what you eat - provides comfort.
Avatar f tn Help! i keep binge eating on food like chocolate, buiscuits, cake etc... and i cant stop, i need help!
